Since #10 died before round 9, can I swap him for #13 (currently dominated)
Are you still waiting for greyarea?

I've edited my post with dice rolls and the if-then-else logic.

Denslow assists with as much luck as needed. Sorry, didn’t realize I was being the log in the road holding up traffic.

Howdy,
Still working out the bugs in my understanding of MCC.
Does Farmanus get a free attack of opportunity on #12 because the brute retreated? If so, would that AoO be part of Round 9?

Yes. Please roll the additional attack.

So, Kurot seems to have ended up all alone against all the remaining enemies. Oops. :)

How quickly can Kurot fall back without opening himself up to a bunch of free attacks?

MCC does not have the +4 bonus. It's just a free attack.

If he withdraws from melee, any melee opponent gets a free attack. Currently, this is only #5.

In AD&D, there's a difference between "Run away!" and a "fighting retreat." With the latter, you keep fighting but pull back. Is that something Kurot could do—i.e., not withdraw from melee, but work his way back toward the cart to get away from the other potential melee opponents? Or is that not a thing in MCC?

MCC doesn't differentiate. Rules light, I suppose.

If you are moving but still fighting, they don't get a free attack. That would be the "fighting retreat" in my judgement.

Silvestri focuses his power on #3, #6 and #12 (if still alive)

"Loyal tribesmen, you have been betrayed! Some of the tribe have attacked their own kin as well as my bodyguards. They are trying to kill me and destroy the tribe. Kill the traitors, kill them!
#3 is prone with a broken leg, #6 is engage with #13 and #12 is dead.

Gotcha. I've posted an action that I think does what I'm trying to do (but we'll find out!).

Do you / Does MCC use the "set weapon against charge" rule as in AD&D? If so, Farmanus would allow his mates to launch missile attacks while he forms a one-man front line, crouched with his spear set to do double damage to any fool who charges us.

No to both. Such a rule is a legacy left over from the wargame mechanics of original D&D. In my opinion, this is only suitable against mounted or chariot charges.

MCC does allow a character to charge into combat for a bonus. The PC must move at least half their movement to gain a +2 attack bonus. However, their AC suffers a -2 penalty until the next round.

So, on a completely different note, when does a character get new skills slots? I'd still like Silvestri to learn old-onglish.

Initiative: [1d20] = 17

He calls out to the two beast-men:

"Mighty warriors! You have proven your loyalty, so much that I have decided that one of you will have the honour of being my primary bodyguard and second in command. But who should have this honour?...In order to prove which of you is the strongest and therefore the most worthy of such an exalted position, you must fight each other until one of you concedes the position or passes out and shows their weakness."
Silvestri is way nicer than me. I would have just put the thought in each of the survivors' minds that the other one was a mortal enemy. I mean, once a person is convinced that someone he thought was his friend is now his mortal enemy, it's not that hard to convince him that someone else—even someone who fought with him against those enemies—is also his mortal enemy. Inducing paranoia is a powerful thing!

But, sure, maybe a person with ethics and stuff wouldn't kill when unnecessary. It's a lot easier to loot the dead, though. :D

well, with the edict that having them fight to the death might be pushing it I thought I'd get them to weaken themselves so we can kill them easier, so maybe not that nice after all, as they will have to be killed.

I guess I was erring on the side of caution as to what I could get them to do.
