Dr. Clarke:
"Thank you, I'll take whatever you have available, and please contact me when you have secured the others. You can reach me at the Misk... I mean." and David pulls out his notebook and scribes down his address. "You can reach me here when the books become available."

Dr. Francis Morgan:
After giving Claire the glass of water, Frank asks, ”Do you think you should see a doctor? That was quite a spell you had, Ms. Ford.”

“I have an appointment tomorrow with my doctor,” answers Claire, taking another sip of water as the investigators get up to leave.
The black lab, tail wagging, watches as the men get into the car and drive away.

from Andover

The investigators are driving back from Andover to Arkham.
They make small talk. Claire's feelings toward her father, and the information she gave, could be most helpful.
Reginald votes for visiting James Ford's private residence. That's in Manhattan. The New Orleans trip is coming up soon.
"Agent Mulder needs to know this," says Marius. "And I want to know how the raid on the docks went yesterday."
The men stop in Danvers at The Tasty Crab for a seafood lunch.
On the road to Arkham

Dr. Clarke motors back to Arkham, his newly acquired books on the seat beside him. He ponders Raymond Randolph's research interests. Dreams and travel and pagan religions. Was the old man racing against time to decipher his fate? Learn what befell him in his time-altering experience with the trapezohedron crystal? What time does Big Betty open?

Dr. Francis Morgan:
During lunch, Frank speaks up, “Yes, I agree with you both, Reginald and Marius. We should visit Ford’s private residence and relay our findings to Mulder.”
He wipes his mouth with his napkin, lights up an after lunch smoke, and adds, ”Ms. Ford’s “condition” was quite peculiar. She was off on her due date by a couple of months and the spell she had...most peculiar. What do you all make of it?”

Dr. Clarke:
David drives home and fixes himself a sandwich and a cup of coffee for lunch. He looks over the list of books that Raymond purchased and makes a copy, placing it into his inside jacket pocket when completed. He takes the original and glues it to the bottom of his top dresser drawer. Afterward, he stares at his dresser wondering what has happened to himself to make him so paranoid to perform such an odd act? Sitting on his bed staring at his dresser his mind wanders. He thinks of his time in Turkey, of Raymond, the crystal, his homecoming. Then with a flash of clarity, he rushes over to the phone. He picks up the receiver. "Operator? Yes, will you please connect me to Mrs. Florence Randolph on Lazarus Lane. Yes, I'll wait. Thank you." David nervously waits for Florence to pick up.

Marius:
Between munching down on a plate of mussels Marius speaks. "Really Doc you got to try these. They are nice and fresh. Now only if they served them with a side of linguine and a nice butter sauce they would be perfect. I bet you they got some (insert derogatory term here) in the back. What they need a good Italian cook. Hmm but these are good." Marius loses himself in his lunch until he is finished it. Afterward, he orders an expresso which gets him a blank stare from the waiter, so he orders a coffee instead, black. "Next time Doc, I get to pick the restaurant." He says as he lights up a cigarette himself. "I don't know anything about her pregnancy Doc, but I'll take your word for it. She did get kind of peculiar towards the end though. If something spooked her I didn't see it, nor did the dog. Do you think it has anything to do with her getting pregnant and what not?"

Reginald Wilkins, bookdealer
Reginald finishes his lunch, listening to his companions' thoughts on their peculiar encounter with the unlikely Ms. Ford. He sips a black coffee.
Indeed, Ms. Ford seems to have been affected by some manner of time dilation, just as the unfortunate Dr. Randolph had.
Sadly, she doesn't seem to remember much about it. We should report this to Agent Mulder. I'm curious about last night'sraid as well.
After throwing it for his portion of the check, Reginald finds a payphone and calls Mulder. He informs the agent what they learned from Ford, and inquires about the raid.

Dr. David Clarke’s Home
Arkham, Mass.
1:45 pm, Oct. 9, 1925
Dr. Clarke phones Florence Randolph, Raymond’s widow.
“Mrs. Randolph speaking. Oh, hello Dr. Clark. How may I help you?”
The Tasty Crab
Danvers, Mass.
12:30 pm, Oct. 9, 1925
Reginald inserts four pennies and dials the BOI Providence office. He is transfered to Agent Mulder.
BOI Agent Mulder reports on the raid.
“We went in and found a distillery. Shots were fired. Some equipment was hit and exploded, killing several men including an agent, and injuring another half-dozen.”
“No sign of cultists or related paraphernalia. We probably shouldn’t be surprised this wasn’t a real lead, given how easily the address was given up to Reginald and Marius.”
“Next week we’re going down to New Orleans to investigate what we know are real leads. We want your expertise there. You remember from the letters we found in Carcosa’s apartment. His address, a club known as a center of cult activity, and other addresses whose purchase ran through James Ford.”
“Now did you find anything new recently? I know you were following up on Claire Ford.”
“Good news on the legal front with Dr. Clarke. The case has been dismissed. No family members of Asenaith Waite could be located, which seems mighty odd. The State had assigned a public defendant but without the push, it wadn’t high priority. The BOI applied pressure and it worked out.”
As Reginald and Agent Mulder talk, Dr. Morgan considers Marius’ question.

Dr. Francis Morgan:
Waiting for Reginald to return with his report from the BOI, Frank replies to Marius, ”I’m not very knowledgeable about pregnancy and its...”side effects”; however, I do know Ms. Ford’s behavior was very peculiar. It isn’t likely that a woman would forget her due date, let alone be off by months.”

Dr. Clarke:
"Hello Florence, and please call me David. I was calling to check to see how you were doing. How you were holding up and all since Raymond's passing. I'd like to stop by and pay you a visit if I could, today."
Dr. Clarke nervously waits at the other end.

Marius:
"Yeah, very strange." Marius places his share of the bill on the table and take the paper check and turns it over. On the back, he scribbles a note to the waitress in Italian.
"Durare sino alla vittoria! Durare oltre la vittoria, per l'avvenire e la potenza della nazione"

Reginald Wilkins, bookdealer
Reginald updates Agent Mulder. Yes, we have a few leads from Ms. Ford that we will follow up on before we leave here. It may be nothing, but we have an address that may be involved with the cult. I'll call you after we've had a chance to check it out.
Reginald returns to the others, and conveys the good news regarding Dr. Clarke, and the bad news regarding the raid.
When the group is ready, Reg travels with the others to the address provided by Ms. Ford.

Marius:
"That bastard! We should have known better. If I get my hands on him again I'll..." frustrated he pulls heavily on his cigarette instead of completing his sentence.
At the news of Dr. Clarke, "Well the doc will be happy to hear that."
To Reginald "The checks paid and we are ready to go."

Arkham, Mass.

"We can send our local Manhattan agents to check out the Ford addresses," offers Agent Mulder.
The waitress gives Marius an odd look at his foreign words.
"Are you making a pass at me?" she asks.
The investigators pay the bill and drive back to Arkham. Should we go to New York? asks Prof. Balandabar who has been quiet on this trip.
"I have exams to grade, and next week we'll be going to New Orleans."
Reginald is excited to go to New York city and check the Ford addresses. Upon his arrival back Arkham, to Dr. Morgan's house, he calls his book shop clerk in Providence. He has a pile of book shop orders, bills, and calls to answer. The antiquarian book dealer realizes he's been shirking his business responsibilities in the excitement of the investigation.
He also discovers that he almost forgot his appointment tomorrow with his psychoanalyst. Reginald feels he has been making progress in his mental equilibrium, though at times he's been skeptical that his mother is at the root of many of his issues.

Dr. Clarke:
David gets back into his car and drives over to Florence Randolph's home with his notebook with the list of books that Raymond purchased at Lorecraft Bookshop. He parks out front of the Randolph home. Before he exits he check the straightness of his tie and combs back a stray hair. With a heavy heart, coming once again to this dearly departed friends home, he proceeds to the front door and raps upon it. He forces a smile upon his face and tries to keep his composure.

Marius:
Marius looks at the waitress "No, child. Be ready. It's coming."
In the car:
"I guess I should go home. I'm sure Mafalda is wondering if I'm ever coming back. Plus it would be good to see my children again, Geno, Salvatore, Ivan, Maria, and Carmello my oldest boy who is looking after the place while I was gone. Mafalda won't like it when I tell her I'm leaving again. She can be a Che palle!. But nothing the back of my hand can't fix."

Dr. Francis Morgan:
Dr. Morgan pays his portion of the bill and exits The Tasty Crab with the others, elated at the news of David’s acquittal.
Back in the car, Frank looks slightly uncomfortable with Marius’ “back of his hand” comment, hoping the Italian was only speaking in jest. With a sense of trepidation and unease, he questions, ”Well, it seems as if our next stop is New York?”
