Wrenly looks at he map with interest. "What was strange about the standing stone?"

Wulfhart, engrossed by a book for the first time in his life, is too busy reading to participate in the conversation of what to do next.

Fingal

Yesssssssss. Oh, sorry. I mean, yes! That is a good idea. No stone unturned and all that, as they say. Whoever they are?

For you new guys, the standing stone was one of the choices that we could explore when we first came to be in this place. It is to the west of here, on the other side of yonder mountain.

Fingal forces the other draw open and finds a small belt pouch filled with two-dozen blood red gems, half the size of acorns. The experienced eye of the thief judges them to be worth 75 gp each. There is also a clerical scroll with three spells: Protection from Good, Curse, and Cure Serious Wounds.

Wulfhart continues to read The Mounds of Tindalos, dwelling on excavation practices involving laying of pipe in virgin earth (profusely illustrated.)

The adventurers discuss next steps and agree to explore this dungeon more before possibly going to the standing stone on the map. The party is exhausted however and given the long day, are ready to rest.
It has actually been one long day since you entered the complex. Continuing is an option, but to reflect the tiredness there is -1 on all rolls.

Asherrion's ears perk up at the Cure Serious Wounds spell scroll.

Wrenly the Brown, Conjurer

"Well, that was disgusting, yet somewhat profitable. Let us go set a camp nearby, get some rest, and come back tomorrow to clean this place up, shall we?"

Fingal hands the scroll to Porphyry who he believes is the closest thing to a cleric the group now has. He wonders what ever happened to the cute female cleric the group had years ago but then remembers that she was eaten by trolls.

Then he wonders how just he and Wulfhart have become the only original surviving members of this group that set out for the keep all those many years ago. A tear forms in the corner of his eye as he thinks about all the people they have lost over the years.

Can you read that scroll goatman? Ash there looks to be in pretty rough shape. I also agree that we should rest before continuing.

He puts the gems away for future distribution, mostly because he cant figure out how to distribute 24 gems to 7 people.

Porphyry takes the scroll, holding it with the tips of his fingers as if it were covered in filth. He says with even more studied disdain than usual, "It appears to be very primitive, inelegant work. Let me see if I can make any sense of it."

He sucks his teeth as he reads through the scroll. "This healing spell is all backwards. It would make much more sense if you reversed this process, here, and shifted the aetheric flow from positive to negative. You'd get a vastly more impressive result. Probably fatal to the patient, of course, but superior in every other respect."
Does the goat have the slightest chance of actually casting from this scroll?

"I suggest we just sleep here tonight. I have some reading to catch up on, and all of us are weary. There's only one direction we can be attacked from - if we're in the wilderness we can be surrounded" suggests Wulfhart.

Ha!
"Hmm. I see your point," Wrenly replies to Wulfhart's suggestion, "Although there is also the hole in the roof that the worm creature came through," he says pointing upwards. " Still, if we set up in the narrow part near the well and keep a watch we might survive the night."

The party is in the room under the sarcophogus, so I assume Wulfhart means sleep there and not in the scorched chamber above or near the well.

Unfortunately the cleric scroll is not castable by the satyr necromancer psychopomp. :( The party has been without a cleric since the death of Easia of the Twin Hammers.

Yes, the room under the sarcophagus was what Wulfie was referring to.

I agree with Wulfhart. A night's rest might help.

"You need a few nights, by the looks of you" says Wulfhart empathetically before returning to his book.

Porphyry tosses the scroll aside. "Gibberish, really. Below my dignity as a spell-caster. Trust me, Asherrion, you're better off as you are than letting that sort of slip-shod gimcrackery fiddle about your corpus."

After two years sharing a single room with most of the rest of the party, Porphyry is accustomed to setting up habitation in a corner, and goes about it with habitual ease.

Wrenly the Brown, MU

Wrenly scoops up the discarded clerical scroll and stows it in his pack. "Perhaps we should hold on to this. We might be able to trade it to a temple in return for help with our... various ailments?" he says, indicating their illustrated status. He then finds a space along the wall opposite the book shelf to settle down and begin copying Sleep and Shocking Grasp from the wizardly scroll into his spell book. He will then give the scroll with the remaining spell, Enlarge, to Asherrion.
I suppose Asherrion can't copy Wrenly's spells until he's able to get ahold of a new spell book in town? Or if he's able to memorize out of Wrenly's spell book, he'll loan it to him for that purpose.

Asherrion the ashen grey

A few nights would be preferable, Wulfhart, but I doubt that's an option. Porphyry is probably right: this body has had enough magic to last a while. That said, this scroll might be handy, Wrenly. My thanks!

I'm hungry. The constant smell of bacon is getting to me. Anyone have rations they can share?
