Marshal shrugged. "Guards don't make that good of a salary. They are easy to bribe..so I don't trust them is all."

Petra returns to the inn and shares the story of her experience with Plutivarch outside. Tired and frustrated, she suggests the group returns to their room and get a night of sleep before resuming their investigation the following morning. The witch suggests the group engage the city guards, per Plutivarch's suggestion, then questions whether any of her companions have any reason why the guards should be avoided... which they assure they do not. Marshal suggests they report back to the Pathfinder Society.

The group is able to return to the room they've rented without incident. Feel free to discuss what your next plan of action will be, and I will move everyone again once I know what you intend on doing.

Upon returning to the room, the group notices that their drunken friend Harold is missing, and has apparently wandered off.

"I don't feel comfortable staying here. I think we should move on."

"Agreed. My body would find sleep quicker on a pillow than the floor boards anyway."

"I'd rather get a room in a better part of town, for safety's sake," Ty agrees.

Athriel nods his head in agreement. "I have had enough excitement for one night. A place of safety would suit me fine."

Does the group want to return to the Alibaster District, and use the chit Sheila gave to Marshal?

"Let's return to the Alibaster District and use that chit from Sheila to get a room," Ty suggests.

Athriel looks around the room as if trying to get one last piece of information but just can't seem to find it. "Agreed."

The group returns to the upscale Alabaster District seeking fine food and safe shelter for the night. Before reaching the villas, which line the far eastern border of the district, the group stumbles upon a two-story timber and brick inn named the Naked Serpent -- pleasant sounds and smells emanating from within lure the group inside. The inn is fancifully decorated with a tiled mosaic floor and, despite its relative lack of windows -- there are four total, two on the front and two on the rear walls -- it is brightly lit by glowing gemstones set into the ceiling. A large, wood-burning fireplace occupies the wall to your left upon entering, and a bar, with a back room or office behind it, is found to your right.

The groups is greeted quickly and led to one of a pair of round wooden tables in the far corner of the common room. Seated at the neighboring table are three females -- an elf, a halfling, and a human. The elf is is tall, with red hair and brown eyes, and dons leather armor and wields a spear. The halfling is short and slender, with silver hair and brown eyes; she wears banded mail and wields a flail and shield. The human is exceptionally beautiful, with brown hair and soft gray eyes. She wears dark robes and wields a long sword and dagger.

A half-dozen other tables occupy the rest of the space, and are mostly filled with affluent, non-adventuring types.

After presenting the chit, the group is fed a satisfying meal of braised shellfish with a blackberry tart spread and generous glasses of mead or port. They're also informed that the inn's accommodations consist of several small rooms with beds and woolen mattresses, but reminded that the chit only covers the cost of a meal, not the rooms, which are 5 silver pieces each per night.

Sorry for the delay, guys.

Anything else you want to do this evening, or are you good to advance to the following day? I'll also need to know how many rooms you're looking to secure, and for how long.

Petra will stay in Tys room.
just kidding :)
1 night stay please.

Petra will approach the woman adventurers and ask to join them.
"Now this appears a capable group. " she says smiling.
"I would dearly enjoy a story of your adventures, should you be so inclined."

The group goes about securing individual rooms, with Athriel and Petra electing to reserve theirs for a single night, while Marshal and Ty pay in advance a second night each.

"Now this appears a capable group," Petra says with a smile as she approaches the table of female adventurers. "I would dearly enjoy a story of your adventures, should you be so inclined." The trio exchange glances with each other before the human of the group extends a receptive greeeting. "Please. Sit." she says, indicating the single empty chair at their table. "I'm Robine," she starts. "This is Marora, and Keylee," she adds, indicating her halfling and elf companions respectively. "And you would be?" she asks. Assuming Petra introduces herself, Robine continues. "You are mistaken, however. We are not adventurers, just... protecting ourselves."

"You've heard people have been disappearing of late, no?"

Petra nods, her expression becoming somber. "I have heard rumors. Little more. You are wise to go in numbers. What have YOU heard of these sorry events?"

"Just that they're happening," Robine says. "And that no one is safe... well, we're relatively safe here in the Alibaster, but there's no sense in taking chances."

She turns her gaze to the three other party members. "So, what's your story," she asks Petra of her and her companions.
