The book contains the spells Hold Portal, Magic Missile, and Continual Light. Hold Portal and Magic Missile are both 1st level spells, so either could be inscribed into a scroll for 100gp including materials, with half paid up front.

Ok, I thought when you said "trade", you meant spell for spell, not my gold for your services. Wendall lacks the funds and desire for any of those 3 spells to be put into his book at this time.

Rogar walks into the tavern and orders an ale then asks Ghrym "Do you know of anyone needing a warrior? I'm looking to make some coin here."

Ghrym nods, glad to accommodate the newcomer. "After the festival's done, you'll have more than your share of work, I suspect"

"Aye," Martin says, nodding in aggreement with the bartender," It seems everyone is waiting for this festival before any further expeditions will be planned. I hope you have some coin saved to cover your expenses in the meantime."

Varas looks incredibly happy as he stands up in the tavern. "Alright. Who's here for the ale drinking contest?!" he yells.

Dorvar polishes the Dorvar's Drinking Corner plaque with a cloth and then sits in the chair beneath it. All of you are trying for second place, just so ye know. But it should be fun times for all involved, especially Ghrym, who stands to make a fair profit this day. He smiles, and says, First one to lose their ale sleeps in the stables!

Ghrym starts setting out his finest leaded-crystal tankards for the participants along the bar and smiles. "So, what will the rules be, Mister Varas?"

Varas stares at Ghrym blankly. He clearly hadn't thought this far ahead. But he recovers quickly.

"All right. The winner is the one who can drink the most of Ghrym's delicious ale. When you finish a tankard, turn it upside down over your head. Any more than a few drops of that delicious liquid come out, then that beer doesn't count. Ghrym, will you be kind enough to judge?

After each ale, you close your eyes, lean your head back and extend your arms. You have to touch your nose with eyes closed, and you get two tries. If you fail, the ale counts but you 're done with the contest. Sound fair?"

Ghrym guffaws. "That's good with the spirit of the festival tomorrow--what about those who need to take a break due to fullness or because they can't hold things down?"
