Vorkath does a backward advance up the stairs while facing any chasing wraiths with shield and a prayer.

Robert having an apparent lapse of brainpower and willpower remembers he can't cast most any of his spells indoors and backs away to the same area as the others. Back by the statues.

Please clarify how far everyone is planning to "backward advance": just far enough for Agrippo to occupy the doorway between the statue area and the chapel? All the way up the stairs and out the door of the balcony? Somewhere in between?

Keep in mind that wraiths can fly...

Robert retreats somewhere between the stairs and balcony.

Agrippo will finally recover from his recent bout of day dreaming he was elsewhere playing the role of a small cog in some distant hellish technological and industrial wheel....

doing what he does best, he will shout to the others to get behind him and fording the breach between the statues. lunging at the nearest wraith his melee strikes go as follows:

1st attack to hit 5, dam 5,
2nd lunge to hit 19 dam 5.

Cursing and bellowing he will instruct Vorkath to pull himself together and fight these fiends not some miserable accountant fellow and Iluq to turn or burn.

Iluq falls back with the group but hearing Agrippos words emboldens him, he IS a warrior of the light, and those that dwell in the shadows should fear him! He looks towards the denizens of evil approaching them with Agrippo holding the front line, "Denizens of Evil! Be TURNED!"

Turn Undead: [1d20] = 16

Nice try, but clerics can only try to turn once unless there are multiple types of undead (see 1e DMG p. 65).

lol, I was hoping you would let it slide because of the cool introduction.

Iluq, sets himself directly behind Agrippo, giving him support as the wraiths come, he brings his hammers down on the first wraith to close in.

Iluq, dual +1 hammer attack, THAC0 16: to hit, [1d20] = 12+1, [1d20] = 15+1; damage [1d4] = 3+2 (+1 v. L), [1d4] = 2+2 (+1 v. L)

Robert will cast Barkskin upon himself. and move forward to the statue area ready to swing his sword in defense.

Vorkath considers the odds against six wraiths, a dread undead type he has encountered before. He hopes they are tied to this chapel.

"These are wraiths - they will drain us! Escape we must and hope they don't follow!"

Vorkath strategically realigns position midway on the stairs to give Agrippo room to swing his spear, and have high ground should any fly through. The paladin glances back to make sure none are flying down the stairs from the balcony. He motions for the others to follow, with the paladin in front going up the stairs and Agrippo bringing up the rear. If recent behavior is any indication, he expects the strategy will not be followed.
Six wraiths? Maybe we'll come out of this as 4th level characters if we stand ground, unless some have item or spell to stop them. We should retreat.

Date: Nouluna 4, 1221
Time: 7:03 PM - Combat Round 2
Weather: Thunderstorm
Moon: Full
Location: Castle Ravenloft, Chapel of Ravenloft
**************************************
You wisely choose to take cover in the stairs from the life-draining wraiths. But the wraiths get the first strike this round. Robert again feels the icy grip of a wraith (-4 HP, -1 level!!). Another penetrates Vorkath’s defenses, draining some of the paladin’s life force! (-4 HP, -1 level!!).

You scramble for the stairs, but with dignity, as Agrippo guards your retreat. His spear again pierces a wraith. With a screech and a puff of dust, it vanishes into nothingness! Iluq stands near the warrior, attacking the first wraith to close in. His twin hammers damage a wraith that gets too close.

When you have all retreated behind Agrippo, Tibbius tries the Wand of Wonder again. Dazzling colors dance and play for a 40’ x 30’ area in front of the wand. The wraiths start to bump into each other. You realize that they have been blinded! Unfortunately, so have Agrippo and Iluq. But if you can guide the legionnaire and the cleric, this could be an opportunity to escape—or to press your advantage!

Robert converts from being a Druid to being a Cleric. flees from the chapel back into the hall outside of where the zombies were.

Iluq stumbles, his vision lost, "I don't think we should be here! If they are indeed tied to this chapel then show me in which direction I should be facing as we retreat, or shove me towards them and I shall swing my Hammers! Bringing justice to all they meet!!"

Guys!! I am blind! Help me.....

Robert having remembered an item in his bag of holding rushes back to his friends lays out his net of entrapment as fast as he can almost like rolling out a carpet in the area where the statues are "Try and lead them over the net my friends we can entrap them and make it a lot easier to kill the things!"

"Straight back Agrippo and Iluq, then up and out!" says Vorkath guiding the others verbally. He continues from his position half-way up the stairs to the exit hoping this is the opportunity to escape.
On the map I thought I was half-way up the stairs, from the clarifying post requested.

"Okay which tit let loose his arcanery, if we don't know what we are triggering we only hamper ourselves." With no point fighting blind to silent corporeal figures, Agrippo will shamefully retreat up the stirs, refusing to be guided by hand"not an old man yet you know" he will curse".

Robert will wait and watch as the group backs up in a retreat and only say the trigger words when the wraiths are over the net.

Robert will try to help Iluq and not lose sight of the wraits so he can trigger his trap. "Iluq my friend follow my voice as best you can I"ll help guide you." he does help guide Iluq.

Tumbler may be many things but he is not someone who will leave a blind friend alone.
He drops his crossbow and moves as quickly as he can to Iluq and pulls him along.
