To hit: [1d20+1]=3+1=4, damage with battle axe: [1d10+1]=10+1=11
Sik immediately swings his axe down hard, but misses the rats terribly.

Re: Return To The Ruins (Warlords Palace)
Cyril tucks the statue away in his pack and looks up at Sik. "Whoa...they are just rats Sik. Your swing has to be smoother. I worry you'll pull a muscle in your back with a swing like that."
For his part, Cyril swings his sling and launches a bullet at one of the rats. He grunts as he looses the projectile.
Sling @ Short Range to hit: [1d20+1]=2+1=3, damage: [1d4]=4
The bullet slams into the ground, skipping and then coming to rest against the wall. "To be clear that was not a good example of martial activity."

The Zakath Desert
The Ruined Warlords Palace/Basement
Afternoon
Xenos, Drest, and Ceana rush into the room while the others gather on the stairs.
As Sik, Akhilleus, and Cyril press the attack on the huge vermin, one rat bites the ax wielding desert Barbarian’s leg, sinking its fangs through his leather armor, and spoiling his attack.(3 dam and a Save vs. Death, please)
Akhilleus again demonstrates his exceptional martial focus, ripping through these rats three at a time, killing two of them outright with his flurry of strikes.
Cyril’s stone might not have hit his friends this time, but it does garner the attention of one of the rats, who turns to charge the less dangerous target all alone in the corner.
Actions!
4 rats remain

Sik recoils in pain from the bite, but presses on, taking another swing of his axe at the rat that attacked him.

He peeks inside the rat room and confirms that there may be enough catchers on the street. He'll keep watch in the hall for any activity.

Cyril groans at the sight of a charging beast. He does his best to tuck away his now useless sling and gets his quarterstaff up. He swings it at the rat's legs, trying to trip the thing so that he can more easily knock it silly.
Melee Attack with Quarterstaff: [1d20]=14, damage: [1d6]=6

The Zakath Desert
The Ruined Warlords Palace/Basement
Late Afternoon
Sik feels the wound from the now dead rat throbbing at the bite mark, but he and his friends continue to wreak havoc upon the huge vermin. Drest gets bitten once for his efforts, (1 dam + Save vs, Death, please) but after the others rush to their aid, the reminder of the furry pests are killed without further incident.
With the room quiet once again, their search can continue. When Akhilleus reaches to inspect the silver chalice, he finds something interesting inside its cup. Tipping the contents out into his hand, the fighter finds a strange looking golden colored object. His best guess is either an ancient artichoke, a golden pinecone, or a stunted pineapple. The others all agree that it looks more like a pinecone than the other choices, though its bright golden color is confusing.
Those still on the steps shine their torches deeper into the next area, finding what appear to be cells in the remaining chamber of this basement.

Death save (15) [1d20]=10
He will try and clean and bind his wound as best he can.
""Very curious. Maybe something turned it into gold?"
Is it gold or just golden colored?

Akhilleus
"Aye. It is indeed strange. I'm keeping it if you don't mind. Not because I want it for me, but because someones has to carry it."
He examines the pinecone even closer and scratches it a bit with its nail. He does the same with the chalice. If nothing of interest can be inferred by this examination, he puts both away in his backpack.
It's the pinecone attached to the calice or is it a separated object?

Re: Return To The Ruins (Warlords Palace)
The normal looking chalice is made of pure silver, likely worth 50 gold pieces or more.
After further investigation, the separate pinecone seems as though it was once a real living thing, just like a normal pinecone might look. Scratching at one of its petals reveals an underside that is still soft to the touch. But this one is golden in color, the likes of which none of you has ever seen before.
Anyone with high Intelligence can give me a percentile roll to see if they have ever heard of such a thing before.
