Boff takes another swing at the creature in front of him.

Longsword [1d20+2]=13+2=15
Longsword damage M [1d8+3]=2+3=5 L [1d12+3]=8+3=11

Frannie is unsure if it will work, but can't think of anything else to do without making herself a target, casts Hold person on the two Shtelke leading the horses away. I am 100% Okay if they are not a "person" for purposes of the spell. They looked kinda man-like & can talk, so I decided to give it a try.

The hybrid labeled as Pink D attempts a strategic withdrawal. This will give Nah Olos the choice here (a) press the attack which will give Nah Olos the next attack, but the hybrid still get this attack and then the full next action or (b) let the creature disengage from HTH. At the same time Red 7 attacks Nah's flank with a claw and bite for 8 points and Red 8 does the same hitting with a claw and bite for 8 points. It might be time for the Half-orc to call out for help as well.
Nah Olos reluctantly lets the creature withdraw and takes out his potion of extra healing to drink.

Androgost

Raises his shield to the left (red 1) and runs toward "C", engaged w/ Garrant.

@GM: Thanks for the maps.

Garrant

The wizard grimaces with the attacks. Realising he's managed to buy himself more time, but is still in serious danger and needs to take out his foes quickly, he fires off his last lightning bolt at the hybrid:

Lightning Bolt dmg: [7d6]=16
:x
The dice roller hates me, consistently low damage rolls

Hex will take a step back and conjure a wall of fire right down the line of the square the blue D and the colour sprayed blue is on the line, raising it in front of his attacker and not on his attacker if he can, with the hot side facing Raffi.

The halfling will try and strike at the one attacking him.

@GM: Thanks for the maps.
Since you appear to be moving directly to the two-headed dragon / lion hybrid (Yellow C) and this is less than half your movement (per house rule) you are still allow a single melee strike.

And I am glad you like the maps

Androgost

Hits the two headed dragon with all he has.

To hit: [1d20+3]=20+3=23 Damage: [1d8+3]=8+3=11

Nice!

Garrant

If Garrant sees Androgost coming, and there is a danger he might get dmg from the lightning Bolt he'd switch to magic missile if possible.

In a tabletop world I would never allow this (since the damage has been rolled), but that reasoning does not hold up in a PbP format.

If you want to switch spells (to in this case a shorter spell) - You can use the "retain" metric to not lose the original spell (this would not count as one of your retaining chances) otherwise you lose LB and MM or just take your chances with the LB.

Garrant

I do appreciate your flexibility on this, and I would have accepted a straight no with no complaints. In the unlikely even I roll more than 16 dmg I'll happily max out at 16, I'm even happy to save that damage for the next use of LB. .

Seeing the metal clad form of Androgost coming through the trees Garrant realises the danger of his spell choice and tries to switch:

Retain 3rd lvl evo (vs 14):[_4d6]=(1+5+2+1)=9
LB retained

Damage for MM
Magic Missile damage: [4d4+4]=10+4=14

In the Jotens - Wait they are leaving?
Late Afternoon Starday, 8th day of Planting, 597
3rd day since leaving Loftwick

Qleceec (AC 1, HP 48[+0=48]/63) SH:16
Androgost (AC -6, HP 55/65, Armor 21/26)
Nah Olos (AC 4, HP 31/53)
Siouxsie (AC 2 (1), HP 26/48) (Barkskin 11)
Garrant (AC 8, HP 24/50)
Hex (AC 5, HP 14/27)
Raffi (AC 6, HP 16/21)

Boff (AC 5, HP 49/61)
Franny (AC 4, HP 26/26)

The winds continue to grow in strength moving a clockwise manner around Siouxsie. The winds have reached 24 MPH approaching full speed.

Going from the bottom up this time.

Androgost gets an offer to end the fighting but does not even give it the time of day, perhaps the battle lust is to strong. Instead he ignores his opponent (Red 3) runs to engage the two-headed dragon / lion hybrid that is strongly damaging Garrant. This gives the a free attack to the Red 3 which does hit him for 4 points. Androgost moves up and engages the hybrid and lands a critical hit (Roll damage normally and double the weapon damage (not other bonuses)) for 17 points of damage.

Qleceec hits Pink 1 with two blows with her magic long sword and kills her.

Nah Olos drinks his potion of extra healing and gets back 24 hit points.

Garrant thinks about creating a Lightning Bolt hoping to kill this hybrid, but stops the spell in time and fires a Magic Missile. This kills the hybrid.

Boff lands a successful longsword hit for 5 points on Yellow 6.

Siouxsie swings her Khopesh but does not penetrate the Shtelke armor.

Hex uses his wand and creates a Wall of Fire on the Color Sprayed Blue 2 and having the Blue D hybrid on the other side.

Raffi swings with his short sword and dagger, but cannot penetrate the defense of the Shtelke (Blue 6).

Franny attempts to cast Hold Person on the two Shtelke stealing the horses and one is held but the other is not.

The lion dragon hybrid (Pink D gives a roar)

All of the Shtelke in the lower portion of the map (Red 1, Red 3, Red 7, Red 8, Yellow 1, Yellow 2, Pink 1, Pink 3, Pink 6) attempt to retreat. With the three Shtelke fighting Garrant heading east into the woods (along with the lion/dragon hybrid) and the rest heading south. They are still able to fly, but it is more difficult. Qleceec (vs Red 1 or Pink 1) and Nah Olos (vs Red 7 or Red 8) can get a free parting shot.

All of the Shtelke and the hybrid in the upper portion of the map (Blue 6, Blue D, Yellow 3, Yellow 6, the just recovering Blue 3, and the un-held horse thief) also move off. The one in the "cool side" of the Wall of Fire head over the top, the ones on the hot side head southwest and the horse thief heads west. Raffi will get a free parting shot on Blue 6, Siouxsie will get it on Yellow 3 and Boff on Yellow 6. From the fire the hybrid took 5, Blue 3 took 4, Blue 6 took 2 and Raffi takes 2HP damage.

As it will be time to regroup horse status will be an important question.
  • Qleceec - Spare horse died and main horse was last seen on the trail part of the map to the south. Status unknown.
  • Androgost - Tied up the horse and it is still there
  • Nah Olos - It appears to have wandered off in the combat, location unknown.
  • Siouxsie - It appears to have wandered off in the combat, location unknown.
  • Garrant - It "bolted" to the east
  • Hex - It was stolen by a Shtelke heading west
  • Raffi - It was stolen by a Shtelke heading west
  • Boff - Under the control of Franny
  • Franny - Franny is riding it
It also should noted that baby Shtelke are being "born" and having a challenge flying to the south.

Nah Olos swings at the retreating Shtelke.

Boff continues to swing at the one he is engaged with.

longsword [1d20+2]=15+2=17
longsword damage M [1d8+3]=3+3=6 L [1d12+3]=12+3=15

Franny considers for a moment and decides to cast a sling stone at the non-held creature. with any luck, it will at least drop the reins.
Sling [1d20]=15
Sling damage M [1d4+1]=2+1=3 L[1d6+1]=5+1=6

Qleceec

Qleceec takes a parting attack on Pink #1.

Long Sword +2 [1d20+3]=4+3=7 to hit [1d8+4]=4+4=8 damage

She will then retrieve her bow and quiver. "I need to go looking for my horse."

Raffi will not strike out at the creature fleeing him, but will move further from the wall of fire.

Hex will move slowly over to Souxsie and see if she’s ok.

That was exciting eh long shanks! he says with a weary wink.

Garrant

The wizard nods at Androgost "Thanks. I wonder why they retreated? They seemed to be gaining the upper hand... Now where did my horse go?"

He looks around for signs of his steed, but doesn't move away from the group at this point

Hex and Souxsie still cannot hear much of anything (besides ringing in the ears).

The gnome looks at the Druid in confusion and cups his ear.

Ehh? What? . He looks around at the now approaching Raffi. I have no idea what she’s saying! he shouts with a shrug
