I should have thought of this before... I only have Cook 2, have used my train already and my Nature is tapped to 3. I can't pass this test this time, and I prefer to fail so ai can advance the skill.

Is it kosher to hold off on Rabon's test until after the others have spent their checks? I'd hate to be the cause of a camp ending twist while everyone else is exhausted, etc.

Or should I just go for it? Thoughts?

I would say go for it. Besides, isn't there an order in which they have to be tested? So we would have to use our own supplies to get rid of hunger if we have any other conditions. You could probably use the Cook test to try to make some preserved rations for next camp we do? But since I think we will probably go to town after this next adventure phase it would be a moot point if they didn't turn out.

[Edit] Looking at our conditions, Aoife and Allric would need to consume their own rations before they test to recover from whatever else they have. Everyone else is just Hungry, so we can wait until after you cook to eat it, assuming it's edible. If not then we just use out own rations.

If Rabon uses a preserved ration in his test and does NOT succeed in alleviating everyone's conditions (alternately, he could succeed in alleviating the conditions and get a new condition himself), then we all need to eat rations. This is how it affects our inventories:

Allric is carrying 1 preserved ration.
Berenwald is carrying 3 preserved rations.
Aiofe is carrying 3 preserved rations.
The disc (now Aiofe's sack) is carrying 2 fresh rations.

We consume two fresh rations (1 slot) and 3 preserved rations (1 slot) for the five of us.
We still have 3 preserved rations (in Aiofe's pack) and all of our full wine/water skins to alleviate conditions if they come up before we return to town.

That then gives us the following open slots:
Thag (1 backpack slot)
Allric (1 empty belt pouch)
Berenwald (2 backpack slots)
(Rabon has an empty slot he hopes to use for recovered thieves tools)
Aiofe (1 empty belt pouch)

That's a good amount of slots, but not enough to avoid carrying the large sack of loot.

Light:
Disc (now sack) has two flasks of oil.
Allric has two candles.
Berenwald has four torches.
Aiofe has three torches.

When camp ends, we can go back to the chapel and see if the darkness is gone. If not, Allric will cast Light to see if he can dispel it. If not, then we make light.

If we fill both Rabon and Berry's lanterns and have them stay with Thag and Aiofe, then Allric can hold a torch. Hopefully that gives us two in full light and three in dim light to act to search the chapel chamber.

We still have six torches, which can hopefully provide enough light to end the session and depart back to town.

I think that's all our checks spent, so now we should strategize about how to deal with the darkness in the chapel.

I propose finding a log or a wooded beam, coating a few feet of one end with oil, if we have any, lighting it, and pushing it into the chapel. Hopefully it will provide light as if it were a couple of lanterns. It might only last a couple turns though. It might take a Laborer test to move it around though. But maybe if we could find a wheelbarrow?

Also, aren't we only one test away from the end of a session?

We only have two flasks of oil. We have more than two lanterns. We know a lantern will provide full/partial light for two people. I am uncomfortable using our oil by taking a chance on a burning log, when we could just pour it into the lanterns.

I propose we:
* Cast the Light spell and see if it dispels darkness.
* If not, light the two lanterns (giving light to 4 of 5 of us) and investigate that way.

Food and Water
Allric is carrying 1 preserved ration.
Berenwald is carrying 3 preserved rations.
Aiofe is carrying 3 preserved rations.
The disc (now Aiofe's sack) is carrying 2 fresh rations.

We consume two fresh rations (1 slot) and 3 preserved rations (1 slot) for the five of us.
We still have 3 preserved rations(in Aiofe's pack) and all of our full wine/water skins to alleviate conditions if they come up before we return to town.
Rabon ruins one ration. We eat five rations.

We have 2 preserved rations in Aoife's pack. Thag, Aiofe, and Rabon have a full waterskin from the boiled water. Berry and Allric have a full skin of wine.

All other rations are now deleted from inventory (assumed eaten as we move forward).

Packing Gear
That then gives us the following open slots:
Thag (1 backpack slot)
Allric (1 empty belt pouch)
Berenwald (2 backpack slots)
(Rabon has an empty slot he hopes to use for recovered thieves tools)
Aiofe (1 empty belt pouch)
Gear apportioned in the group:
Berenwald: (1 slot) scroll of "Sanctuary of the Lord of Shields"
Allric: (1 slot) an intricately crafted silver hammer, bearing an engraved image on the head (7D)
Allric: (nil) a brittle page, "Forgive me, dark father of the forge, my toils shall never be enough."

Still in Large Sack (Aiofe):
(2 slots) A large, gilded, gem-encrusted book
(2 slots) Crossbow (unusable without quarrels)

Light
Rabon and Berenwald both carry lanterns, both lanterns are full with our last two flasks of oil.
Allric has two candles.
Berenwald has four torches.
Aiofe has three torches.

Congratulations on raising Health. I almost lowered it (and you would have lost your accumulated tests), so I'm glad that I didn't.

(Also, remember that a cloak isn't a cure-all for exhaustion. Cloaks are for cold weather. But whatever. It all worked out.)

Ironically, of you had gone in while your Fireflies spell was out of control, you would have been well lit.

Ironically, Allric is relieved he needs to remain in the hallway to preserve the magic lighting.

What level of light is there firefly spell? Too bad it didn't work. I hate splitting the party.

Technically it is multiple candles. I amped it up to 3 so it was equivalent to a lantern, in case it helped. Alas, it is not so.

Right. 3 candles ≠ 3 candela. :(

You can't go bouncing the light around willy-nilly, but for the most part, you can assign the light bonuses to whomever you want, within reason. You can't change it on the middle of a test, though, so you'll usually want to have it in the right place beforehand.

Okay then. For now, Rabon keeps himself in dim light and offers Thag full light. If that changes, it will be at a point when it would make sense.

If there's nothing on the walls, then Aoife, and/or Allric if he joins us, will probably want to read the anvil incscription. When it comes to that swtich the light to them and I'll take the dim light.

There's nothing keeping Allric from joining the group. He just can't read or map or engage in most conflicts (and suffers the darkness factor, of course).

Allric should be able to leave the lights on the hall.
