Akhilleus detest to be thought as a coward, but the situation demands that he takes distance. He tries to go in the direction of the ledge he saw and once there soak all the water from his armor. He hopes that Drest still holds.

Under The Water
Before they sink in their soggy armor, Akhilleus and Xenos exit the water for the safety of the vast stone steps. Though the light up here is much dimmer than the illuminated water, they climb up the few huge steps to find a vast flat area with a prominent mosaic tile emblazoned into the stone floor.
Drest is grabbed by another tentacle, then another, as he continues to be pulled deeper into the water. He stabs at them as best he can, cutting into another, unable to escape, but still somehow able to hold his breath without dying. (Test of Con roll please)
Euripides dives under the surface, swimming as fast as he can to catch the creature before it escapes with their Scout. A few trailing tentacles reach out to grab at the Atlantean, but so far he is able to defend himself against becoming entangled himself. He cuts one of them with a jab from his blade, but the beast continues to escape his pursuit.

Concluding that in this place the answer is never the obvious, Xenos has a closer look at the mosiac and surrounding walls to see if they provides any hints.

Re: Into The Long Wet Darkness
Under The Water
Euripides spots what he thinks must be the monsters target of escape, a darker round hole in the depths that the beast is diving straight towards. Drest continues to struggle against the many tentacles grasping him, still unable to move very well as he gets dragged down even deeper by the horrible creature. The tenacious Scout still refuses to draw in a breath of the salty brine, knowing it will be his last if he isn't released soon. (Test of Con roll please)
Though he isn't necessarily in danger of drowning yet himself, Euripides continues to swim downward as he fends off the tentacles grabbing for him. Again he finds fighting with his large weapon almost impossible underwater. Then one of the tentacles wraps around him, trying to drag him even deeper below now as well.
Unable to do anything to help their drowning friends, Akhilleus watches them dropping deeper and deeper into the illuminated water. Hoping it might somehow work, he calls out for a rope in utter desperation.
Xenos is starting to understand this place a bit better than the others, certain that the floor mosaic might show him a clue he needs to help his friends. He sees white tiles with several blue colored circles intermixed. A small path of the blue tiles winds in between the circles that leads away from the water, towards the darker rear of the chamber. It is in that area where he thinks he sees a larger, darker circle in the floor design, but it is difficult to make out from a distance in the dim light.
The ghostly figure of Valkrina floats in that direction, almost urging the Warlock to join her.

Xenos
"Sadly, I have no rope" he replies to Akhilleus.
He considers trying to light a torch, but they're more than likely wet and would take forever to light, so to waste no more time he decides to risk the darkness and sets off down the blue tile path.

Euripides Nereos
Aware that he could have potentially kept Valkrina alive, and now in serious danger of being unable to save Drest from drowning, the Atlantean begins to wonder if the others would have better off if Kalamazoo had not prevented the Vikings from executing him back in Port Zangerios. Believing he can prove he is a valuable part of the (dwindling) team, he continues attacking the giant beast. Wrapped in a tentacle himself, Euripides does not have the ability to attack with his sword. However, he does have a free hand... Reaching down, he draws a dagger and begins slashing at the tentacles which hold him.

Re: Into The Long Wet Darkness
Under The Water
Drest displays his sheer will to cling onto life under the most dire of circumstances, still unwilling to take in a breath after almost a full minute under the water. The uncouth Scout becomes even more entangled by the many tentacles as the creature nears the black hole at the bottom of the flooded chamber, just about to swim through into the blackness beyond. Almost completely enveloped by this point, there is little else the ugly Pict can do but keep stabbing and hope his friends are still behind him. (Can he make it a 6th time in a row?)
Starting to doubt his ability to help save their friend, Euripides switches weapons as he continues to slash at the many tentacles. He does little to harm or slow the escape of the monster, when another slimy strand wraps itself around his torso. He sees the dark hole rapidly getting closer below them, but absolutely nothing is visible inside that black abyss.
Achilleus starts to doff his waterlogged armor, just in case, but encourages Xenos that Valkrina is trying to show them something.
The soaking wet Warlock follows the path of blue tiles that meanders through the blue circles that look a lot like very large bubbles. When he gets to the area where the ghostly figure stops, he finds a 4 foot long lever sticking up out of the center of the mosaic. The tile surrounding the floor lever is a black circle with curved sphincter-like lines, making the whole apparatus difficult to see from a distance in the dim lighting. The lever seems to be tilted fully towards the back of the chamber.

Short on time, and not knowing if Drest is even alive, he grabs the lever.
"Things can hardly get worse." he says to himself as he pulls it towards him.

Now it's the warrior that jumps into the water, knowing he has little chance, but thinking it better to die doing something useful than just staring powerless.

Desperate now, knowing his friend is most likely already dead and that he soon will be as well, the purloiner of Rel stabs at the tentacle wrapped around him instead of slashing. He feels the tip of the dagger make contact with the foul beast, but in the dark cannot tell if he did any actual harm to the sea monster.

Re: Into The Long Wet Darkness
Leverage
All alone in the dim upper chamber, Xenos pulls hard on the lever. This far away from the pool, he has no idea if the results aided his friends or not, but through the darkness, he sees a shadowy opening suddenly appear against the far wall.
Akhilleus leaps back into the pool again, his friends already well below him, near the bottom by now.
Drest continues to hold his breath, thrashing and slashing within his many slimy restraints. Euripides can see his companion starting to turn blue from lack of oxygen, but the stubborn bastard simply refuses to die.
The struggling Atlantean cuts away one tentacle just as another grabs ahold of him. Becoming concerned that they will now both be pulled through the black hole, he looks up to see the main mass of the creature, with Drest still wrapped within its writhing appendages, escape through the opening just before a metallic sphincter-like portal quickly closes, severing the three tentacles grasping Euripides that eventually fall off harmlessly.
Seeing the drain at the bottom of the pool suddenly snap closed, essentially freeing him, while separating them from their scout, Euripides and Akhilleus feel the water in the pool now slowly rising.

Feeling that the water level is rising, the first idea that comes to the warrior's mind is that the whole room is gonna start to fill. He quickly turns back and dons his armor. If the water rises too fast, he will just carry it on his shoulder and run in the direction Xenos went to. "Did you find something? The water is rising. We have to get out of here!" He shouts to the warlock.
