Dalin gets something to drink and eat and then will head to his room. "Vann I should be fairly set to head out when you are ready. I will probably just stop off and get some more bolts for my crossbow and stock up on provisions and water."

Eldon

The curious halfling picked up the rusty sword and examined it. He set the blade back down. "That thing needs some TLC. Not worth the 5gp to me. I was kind of hoping you were going back. Alas, I will need to find someon..." His spirit perked up when Vann Hector announced his the offer to join an expedition in the morning. "Since these guys aren't heading back anytime soon, I'll gladly aid you and the good cleric Reuben on his quest. I arrived in Helix in time for the festival, but with all the rumors I've heard, I extended my stay in hopes to explore a bit as well. Eldon Shadowfinger at your service." The halfling extended his hand and then thought of a very important question. "Just to be sure, are you leaving after first breakfast or second? I don't want to be late!"

Vann Hector

He looks at the two men. Drunkards. He follows a crazed priest. The village loony Alaster sits on the verandah dribbling as much as this hobbit's dog. There seems to be a pattern regarding survivors of exploring the Barrow Mounds, lost in their minds. Around the tavern walls various tributes and trinkets offered in memorial of those who never made it back in body at all though by accounts some tried.

Still, the lucky few do reap a trove of gold and ancient relics. The town squires with their 10'ft poles, the orange haired mage and his entourage.

"Sure Eldon, join the crew. Just bring a few sausages for the dog. There will be plenty of bones for him to munch in once we are there." he says, hoping it doesn't include his own.

I think we are good to go as a group.

Golgarth cleric of Cromm Cruach.

The chain-mailed priest returns to the Brazen Strumpet Tavern. He orders some ale and stew and settles at a table to review his recent expedition. He has a few scars from hungry baboons but gained a wider knowledge of the northern forest at least. It was not too far and he figures he could find the quarry again if he ever needed to.

He also gets some Deluxe standard twin room accommodation covering the next ten days in which he enjoys some research, prayer and Sabbatical. (-120sp / -6gp).

Cosmo

pays for 1 night deluxe upkeep (-8 sp), fetches the stew that this includes, orders a tankard of cider (-2 sp), an extra ale (-1 sp) and brings it all up to Golgarth's table. "Phew! After untangling onself from that web of events any man is worth a drink, whatyousay ? I care not if I don't see another spider this week. Mind if I join you ? I promise this pint is not illusionary he he" and offers the priest the (either superfluous, or more hopefully accepted extra) pint o' ale.

Golgarth

In the tavern during his downtime receives Cosmo Snag at a table. They recount their adventure, covering over his abysmal martial efforts. He takes a welcome drink.

"You know. I have been thinking regarding future options. I noted a Bulletin Board advert for recruits to explore a specific Barrow Mound. One besieged by lizard men to all accounts. My understanding is they are hardly noble savages and I heard on the grapevine they take captives for ransom or worse. Feasts for their cult banquets.

I was thinking if enquiring with the adventurer who frequents that 'tavern of ill repute'.

Either that or strike out to the Moors myself. Interested in coming along? Bring Sigrid
too for some extra arcane knowledge if she wants. Others would be welcome but not sure if their plans. Roaming the misty moor for swamp critters might not be their ambitions."

Sigrid wanders in just in time to hear her name. Waving to the table, she first approaches the bartender and orders a room (the double for 12 silvers hoping that if Mai enters she will offer her the other bed). She then takes a seat at the table with Cosmo and Golgarth. She nods to the priest, "I heard my name when I came in. What are you two up to?" Listens to their tale while taking off her boots and rubbing her feet. "I wonder how much they charge for foot massages."

Golgarth

"Please be seated." he welcomes Sigrid.

"We were beginning to discuss future plans. Maybe take this next week after the festival for some downtime and preparation. Then I want to head out and see what adventures are in store.

I was sharing about a notice on the town board and one the crier rings his bell about. Apparently the lizardmen tribes treat one of those barrow mounds as rather special and some adventurer wants to go take them on. Drive them away or find what neferious cultic use they practice there in privy.

So what do you think? We could offer our services to the man or team up for a different escapade."

He asks them their thoughts and plans.

Cosmo

finishes his stew, moves over to give their feathered friend some space, and orders another round of ale (-3 sp) for all.

"Barrows, you say - barrowsh ? They do seem a likely cover for nefarious cults. And we can't 'ave nefariosh cultsh, now, can we ? I'm all earz" He slurs some of his sibilants - well, it's been a long day and snakebite to a gnome's head will quickly go.

Sir Dewey

Sir Dewey enters. He ignores Alastar, now convinced that he is no knight. Spotting his spider friends, he makes his way over.

"Ah, friends. How is everyone after our travels today?" The Knight stands, not sitting until invited. "I plan on staying in town for a fortnight or so, helping out at the chapel and ministering to the town. The stables seem a decent place to sleep, so I guess I'll try them." He pulls out his meager coins and fingers through them, nodding. "Those spiders didn't make us rich, but they did provide, thank St. Ygg."

Cadeweed

Cadeweed enters right on the tail of Sir Dewey and follows Sir Dewey over to the other seat party members after ordering a pint of ale and the stew of the day. He also settles on a Common room over the stables. Cadeweed pulls up a chair to sit with his fellow adventurers - "I am planning on staying for the Herne Festival of Spring and then looking for a group to head out again. What about you all?"

Sigrid listens quietly while they explain about the cult and says afterward, "This sounds like something we need to look into. Consider me in if we decide to do that." She greets Sir Dewey and Cadeweed as they join them. "Sir Dewey, no need to sleep in the stables, I've purchased a room with two beds. I've no objection to you taking the spare so long as you don't snore too loudly. And that offer is on the condition Mai doesn't want it." She sits back and stretches, "Anyone here speak lizard tongue? I'm looking forward to the Herne festival myself. Just trying to think of a proper pie to bake for the occasion."

Cosmo

now in a very merry mode: "Friendsh! Brave comrades! We need a bigger table!" then blinks a bit to regain his senses. "Yes, count yours truly in." and in a much lower voice, aimed only at the gathered adventurers and no surrounding eavesdroppers: "I was entrushted with an item that belongsh to the group...and promished to use it for common good; I cannot escape that oath. Lizzzard I do not shpeak but I will follow where you go." and then in normal pub volume again: "Letsh drink to that! Best barman - more ale for our table!" (-5 sp).

Mai
Mai, sipping watered wine, joins Sigrid and the others. She pointedly ignores Cadeweeed's drunken antics.
Thank you for your offer, Sigrid. I hope you will not be offended if I choose to get my own room.

I do not speak the debased tongue of the Lizard-folk. I agree that we should investigate- such lower races need to be kept in check. Her tone is very matter-of-fact, as if discussing proper care of a sword.

Golgarth

Takes an extra ale. "I wonder if the mercenary guild have a translator? Someone who can speak in lizard-tongue? Either check there or stick an advert on the town board and hope someone comes forward.

So it seems we are set to explore in a few days. Who wants to come to the Foul Pheasant and contact this man Foxrell?"

He will go and suss the man out and fact find regarding his recruitment notice.

I will post that visit in the other tavern thread.

Sigrid greets Mai as she joins them, "Not offended in the least Mai. It opens up the bed for another in our band." Nods at Golgarth's suggestion of hiring a translator, "That's an excellent idea." She thinks a moment before responding about visiting the man, "I'll tag along if you like."

Golgarth

"Great, let us go tomorrow at lunch and see if we can find this Foxrell fellow. Today, is a drinking day."

He says and orders a round for the table and generally passes the evening at the Brazen amicably remembering to do his devotions and prayers early morning to access his spell allocation.

Sir Dewey

The Knight pauses at Sigrid's offer, secretly hoping that Mai will absolve him from the situation. When she fails to be his savior, he is forced to contemplate. Will he decline, and potentially insult a gracious host, or will he accept and potentially cause a minor scandal by rooming with a woman. An attractive woman, he is keenly aware, but quickly banishes the thought from his mind.

Finally, he decides. "I would be honored, Sigrid. Thank you." You believe you can tell he's blushing a bit under the helmet.

Clearing his throat, he continues. "I would be interested in seeing these mounds for myself. I've heard tales of undead out there. Do we know any more about the lizardman tribes? Are they hostile to the village?"

He agrees to join the expedition to the Foul Peasant.

just a reminder to folk to reconcile the 10 days stay in the tavern in water common, standard, deluxe or superior accommodation you purchase..

Carry in with any roleplay and chat here. I will update the tavern scene for the evening of May 10th later.
