Home Sweet Home
Re: Home Sweet Home
Finnigan readies his bow as he charges towards the portal. He pays no attention to the half orc, though, as he wants to get Pumfrey back, so as soon as he has his bow ready he jumps through.

Re: Home Sweet Home
Grossphil the Feeble
Grossphil is quite pleased with himself for making the thief fear him, though he is less than satisfied when he survives and drags Pumfrey through another portal. With only 1 spell left, Grossphil is prepared to use it the next time they spot the thief, but first a plan ought to be in order...
Never mind, there goes the dwarf. With a furrowed brow Grossphil mutters quietly to himself, "Foolish, bloodthirsty, barbaric fighters. Don't they ever plan anything?"
Considering the ominous warning the thief gave before he left about how he was going to injure them, Grossphil is fairly convinced that on the other side of the portal where Pumfrey just disappeared that there will be traps designed specifically for a group of people charging through. Therefore, he will cautiously wait and allow the fighters to go blundering into the room along with any who wish to join them. Grossphil will purposely enter the portal exactly 1 round after Finnigan and Elitir do. Based on earlier experiments, he at least knows he'll still end up in the same room as the others, even if 1 minute later.

Elitir
Once Finn is through the portal she follows.

Zefarrel will go through after Elitir if the mages move out of the way with hammer in hand. Sprig, watch our backs!

Mac
Wary of playing hide and seek at his age, Mac pauses to assess. As he does so, half the group darts through the portal. "Ah well. This path is as good as any other I guess."
Mac turns to Grossphil. "I guess the whole leap before you look thing is working for them. They've lived this long. Shall we?" He motions to the portal. Mac will go through the portal with Grossphil a few moments later.

Re: Home Sweet Home
Hallway?
First Morning Inside
Finnigan stops for a second to stow his ax and ready his bow before blindly charging through the black portal after Doblin, who is still attempting to escape with their halfling friend. Elitir sheathes her sword and pulls out her sling, staying right behind the dwarf. Zefarrel yells for Sprig to watch their backs as she follows the others through as well.
Grossphil cringes after hearing what the thief said, certain the fighters are rushing to their deaths, headlong into some horrible trap. He decides it will be better to wait for exactly one minute before following. Mac and Sprig seem to agree with the weakling elf, staying right where they are for the time being as well. They begin to count......
In the next room....
This will go much better for me if only the three who have actually entered the room read this:
Actions?
Elitir 13/22
Zefarrel 20/20 0/4 first 2/3 second
Grossphil 16/16 1/2 first 0/1 second
Mac 7/7 0/2 first 1/1 second
Sprig 10/10 2/2 first
Finnigan 18/25

Re: Home Sweet Home
Dining Room
First Mid Morning Inside
Finnigan and Elitir let their missiles fly in the direction of the already injured, fleeing thief, glad that they took the time to prepare them before entering this room. Elitir's stone plunks him in the back of his head, causing him to actually drop the small form he is carrying. Fin's arrow sticks into the thief's back just as he makes it to the portal, penetrating his armor and soliciting a cry of pain from the human. As Zefarrel skirts the missile fire, heading towards the enemy, she watches him slip through the portal. The priestess thinks his escape was more or less a fall forward rather than any actual running, causing her to wonder if the man has been incapacitated, or if the action was simply more of his diabolical trickery.
While the trio decides if they should continue their pursuit, Grosphil, Mac, and Sprig suddenly appear in the room, standing directly in front of the northern portal. They see the others all looking towards the western black portal. An unmoving halfling sized form with a bagged head lies on the floor there. You can read the description of the room in my last post now.

Elitir
Elitir tucks her sling into her belt and draws her sword. "I will cover the portal, help Pumfrey!" Shouts Elitir. She then moves to the side of the portal the thief went through.

Re: Home Sweet Home
Finnigan's eyes jump back and forth between the other three portals, wondering if the thief will come out of one of them. He watches closely to make sure, since the half-orc is watching the western portal...

Mac
After getting his bearings, Mac follows orders and moves to assist the bagged halfling on the floor. He stops a few feet short, however, as Doblin's words come back to him. "Uh...are we sure that this is Pumfrey?" Mac tries to remember what the little halfling was wearing the last time he was seen. "This could be a trick."

Elitir reaches down and cuts the sack off Pumfry. "Make sure he is alive!"

Zefarrel: While I am loath to cease the chase when he is injured, other things are more important. She will see if "Pumfrey" is actually him & if he still lives.

"Well, we found the dining room," says Sprig. While some of the others look to Pumfrey, he'll scout the room for any obvious hazards, edging towards the pile of tapestries, but not getting too close until he's had a chance to inspect it a little more closely. But, you know, from a distance.

Dining Room
First Mid Morning Inside
Not sure what has happened to their enemy, the group decides that security and first aid are more important, so they give up their hot pursuit. Keeping an eye or two on each door, the group concentrates their efforts on Pumfrey. Elitir cuts off the sack with her sword and gasps out loud.
The small figure is indeed their halfling friend, though he isn't looking very good at the moment. Zefarrel kneels at his side and finds that his neck has been cut by a small blade. The wound itself isn't fatal, but there is a green residue all around the cut, indicating that the blade must have been smeared with some type of poison. She isn't 100% certain, but she thinks the shireling yet lives. However, he is totally unresponsive and his breath is so shallow that she can barely feel it on her face. There is a white crust on his lips and tiny white bubbles slowly exit the corners of his mouth.
Sprig moves closer to the pile of refuse and tapestries. The smell from the pile indicates that there is definitely something living in it. Or, at least using it for a bathroom. The rats on the table scurry away into the pile when the gnome draws near, and there is a louder scratching noise coming from the middle of the heap. A glint from a gold coin somewhere near the center catches the mystic thief's eye. He also spots another one of the shiny metallic watermelons half buried in the pile of smelly refuse. This one appears to be unmoving. The carpet around the pile is littered with rat droppings.

"Guys, don't get too comfortable - there is definitely something alive in that pile," says Sprig, backing up a few steps and drawing his short sword.
Re: Home Sweet Home
Elitir
"Can anyone deal with poison? I will help Sprig." Elitir moves over to where the scratching noise came from. prepared to attack or defend herself.

Finnigan shakes his head, "I'm no good with healing anyone of anything..."
His attention continues to focus on the other portals until it becomes necessary to change it to something else, like whatever is in the pile of carpets...
