Before they get on the ledge, Ciar pulls out his silk rope and suggests whomever is going to cross the ledge tie on with the rope. That way, Festus (and whoever else doesn't cross) can hold the line and try and reduce the chances of anyone falling. Or, at least, quickly retrieve anyone who does.

Ciar produces a silk rope and suggests that those that cross tie themselves to it, and
Festus and
Sylvan, whom will be staying on the other side of the ledge, can hold the line.
Sparrow, rope tied around his waist, is the first to cross, and does so with relative ease. He suggests, once he's already on the destination side, that he keep his end of the rope and hold it taut with
Festus and
Sylvan providing the resistance on the other end. Those that still plan to cross will do so with the rope kept to the pit side, and used as a guide.
Kassal crosses next, but not easily.
Ciar is next, and completely loses his footing, but is able to reach up and grab the rope above him and hold on.
Sparrow, on the destination side, initially can't and hang on, and eventually loses his grip completely, but
Kassal, perhaps feeling guilty over the errant dagger toss earlier, holds tight and is largely successful in keeping the halfling from fully dropping into the pit of slime.
Ciar's feet do momentarily dip into the green sludge, which now coats his footwear, but he is able successfully climb/be pulled back to the solid ground.
Sparrow and
Kassal are still on the destination side, while
Cair is back with
Fulp,
Festus and
Sylvan on the original side.

"Thanks," Ciar says, looking down at his feet. "Good a chance as any for someone to test the flame bit again. Sylvan, you are closest. Can you bring the torch to this slime? From above, please, and mind you don't burn me. Just... threaten to burn me, if you get my meaning."

"Festus, do you have a spike or piton we can hammer into the wall to act as an anchor? We'll need to tie the rope down on this side to keep it taut."
If the dwarf doesn't, he'll call out to the others with the same request.

Fulp mentions,
Good idea. I think tying the rope off to a spike would make this a relatively safe endeavor. I unfortunately have nothing to help do that.

The collective group studies their inventory, and Festus is able to produce an iron grappling hook, and Sparrow, already on the destination side, has a multi-tool hammer. "Toss it across," Sparrow says to Festus after spying the dwarf's hook. "We can secure it on this side."
Assuming Festus agrees, a safer security line will be in place for those that want to cross can attempt it again.

Festus uses his grappling hook to tie on and tosses it, carefully, to Sylvan. He will be the anchor on the other side.

Sylvan attempts to cross, feeling light on his feet today.

After "burning" away the slime that affixed itself to Ciar's boots (I assume), Sylvan safely joins Sparrow and Kassal on the destination side.
"There's room for one more," Sparrow says, looking at Ciar, Fulp, and Festus whom haven't successfully crossed yet.

Ciar says, "I'll give it another go."
He makes sure the rope is again tightened around his waist and steps onto the ledge...

After almost slipping again, finally makes it onto the ledge, following the others.

What he said.
I was doing a little backend housekeeping before posting the update. Apparently, I was working the wrong order.
Ciar does almost slip again, but manages to make it across the narrow ledge and join Sparrow, Kassal, and Sylvan; while Festus and Fulp protect their rear on the entry side. Dousing a rope with oil and tossing it across the 20' length of slime blocking their progress, then setting the rope aflame does successfully manage to create a narrow path through which the group can pass.

Seeing the effectiveness of their plan,
Sparrow, from his position in the front, begins to swing the rope back and forth and creates a wave motion, widening the path even further and essentially eliminating any risk it presented.

"Perhaps if the rest of us move through the cleared gap carefully Sparrow, you could use the flame rope in the other corridor to clear a bigger path there too? Do you think that's possible? Good job by the way!" says the gnome keeping well clear of the fiery rope. If the ranger moves the rope out of the way he will navigate the now clearer area to the other side carefully.

Fulp calls out,
Let us know when there is room for us to make our way over.

Ciar peers around the legs of the others, "Well whoever is going to go needs to do it now. Kass, you're up."

The path now cleared,
Sparrow successfully navigates through the slime and makes it to the other side, and
Kassal beings to follow as
Ciar calls across the narrow ledge to
Fulp and
Festus and informs them that there's room for them to cross.
Actions?
If they plan to cross and join the rest of the group, I will need rolls from Fulp and Festus.
Half of the 50' rope previously used to secure the ledge crossing has been burnt in order to clear the slime. It will be easy enough to use another rope to aide Fulp and Festus in their attempt.
Storm11 wrote:Sparrow, you could use the flame rope in the other corridor to clear a bigger path there too?
The slime in the other passage are 3' down in a "pit" and the only obstacle in crossing is the narrow ledge.

While others try their hand at crossing the ledge, Sylvan grabs his lantern and walks south down the hallway to see what lies around the bend heading west.

Festus follows Fulp and joins up with the others, moving quickly ahead to get away from the slime. After retrieving his grappling hook, he too checks out the corridor leading west.
