Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Worren speaks the words apprehensio hocus-pocus and stares at the mist. The mist, whatever other properties it might have, is not magical.
Xale then makes his way to the front of the group. "I still have a dweomer that should allow me to discern if there are any traps in our path," he says. With that, the Dwarven warrior-priest holds his holy symbol and prays to Dalt for divine vision. "That mist is not safe," he says to no one's surprise.
"Perhaps we could dispel this mist?" asks Mason. He moves 10' forward, to the edge of the mist. Abrex follows.

"What do you mean it's not safe? Is it poisonous?" asks Eduardo backing up half a step. He raises his javelin a bit higher and peers into the mist. "Is it possible to dispell a non magical mist?"

Elsa, bladenatrix
"Let us all blow upon it, and perhaps it will dissipate back," jokes Elsa, then holds her breath. She stays at a distance concerned the mist could bellow at them. "Perhaps an alternate route?

Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Xale thinks for a few moments as he ponders the situation. To his companion's question he replies; "No; my dweamor only detects if there are traps or not....therefore I suspect that either there is a trap hidden in the mist or perhaps the mist itself is a trap or was released by a trap. Does anyone have any dweamors that could perhaps move the mist away?"

Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
I advise us to search the path we have taken from the secret door to our current position. There have been enough hidden hallways to indicate that the way is often not the obvious one, let us make sure we have not missed any alternative paths before we try to explore or undo the mists. proposes Zoster.
Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Worren smacks his head. "Of course. A gust of wind may be just what we need here.

Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Elsa suggests that everyone blow toward the mist. Worren smacks his head. "Of course. A gust of wind may be just what we need here," he says. He steps forward, pulls a small seed from his robes and eats it. "Blohardus," he says, then draws in a deep breath and blows. It turns into a powerful gust of wind that blows down the hall!
You see the mist swirl. Eddies and whorls form in the mists, and then suddenly the wind is blowing the mists back at you! Before you know it, you're all surrounded by the mists!
Everyone, please roll saving throws vs. poison at +2 (because the mist is somewhat dissipated).

[1d20+2] = 1+2 = 3 poison save vs 11 Mason's saves roll.....rope row....
Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Xale's Saving Throw roll: 1d20: [1d20] = 7
He only needs a 3 vs Poison (Dwarf with a CON of 15); so I think he's good....whew!

PbP Forum code: [1d20] = 12
Zoster's save against poison is 6.
Not sure if I need to roll for the wolf or if you would do that Zhym, but here it goes:

"That was just a joke!" croaks Elsa, holding her breath and backing away further.

Malibran coughs on the mist but seems to not be adversely affected:

Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Mason, Eduardo, and Malvexa, the two wolves, and Worren's hawk familiar succumb to what you now know to be fear gas. They flee in wild-eyed terror, pushing (or winging) their way past the rest of you to run (or fly) away in a blind panic as fast as they possibly can. They're gone before you can even blink, out the door through which you entered this passage.
The last winds of Worren's spell blow the fear gas into the hall to the north, where the fumes dissipate. Those of you who remain see a 40' hall where the mists used to be. You now realize why the spell backfired: Worren's gust of wind blew the fear gas into a dead end and back out at you.
A door sits in the south wall 30' down the hall.

Elsa the Unafraid
Elsa moves to the side as her comrades bolt. Someone steps on her toe.
"I hope they keep their heads running around out there," says Elsa to Xale. "Should we wait? What does your spell-trap-sense tell you about that south wall door?"

Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Seconds after Mason, Eduardo, Malvexa, and the animals flee, you hear a scream and a thud from just north of the hallway you're in. A moment later, you hear Eduardo's voice calling, "Lemme out! Lemme out!"

Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Malibran heads north to Eduardo to lend assistance.
Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Worren follows Malibran.
Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Malibran and Worren immediately head north. They see Eduardo, still wild-eyed and panicked, stuck in the pit. He's scratching desperately at the walls of the pit trying to climb out.
After a moment, Mason returns. At least, you think it's Mason. The figure rounding the corner is wearing the same clothes Mason wore when he left, and looks like Mason, but curvier. Then you realize: Mason's now a woman!

Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Sorry for the delay - I am not getting email updates even though I am subscribed for some reason. Just catching up and thanks for running Abrex.
Abrex runs after the others to calm them down and get them under control.
Easy folks it's ok. Come back. It's safe now. Mason is that you? What the hell happened?
Abrex helps Eduardo out of the pit when he can get to him.

Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Xale had likewise followed his friends; he was anxious to find Malvexa. Not seeing her; but seeing Eduaro in the pit and the changed Mason; the Dwarven warrior-priest stops and moves to help the terrified man in the pit get out while asking if he had seen his faithful Dwarven follower. He also says to Mason; "I have a DIspelling dweamor that may help you return to your old form....though, considered the ability of the mad mage/lich whose tomb this is; it very well may not. Would you like me to try?"
