Cilian picks up the map case and examines it. If it contains parchment, he pulls it out and examines it, as well.

unsealing the end of the tube there is indeed parchment inside.

As you remove and unroll it you recognize it as a family tree.

Near the end of the parchment you see the name Mary Quantis then pencilied in brachned from her you see the names of her three children.

Scythius calls back to Osric, I think they found something.

How late in the day is it currently?

It is early evening around 5 pm.

Osric cleans himself with gathered water and waits, watching the rain, hoping it shows its power in storm.

Next, Cilian picks up the signet ring and pendant and examines them more closely to see if he recognizes the markings on it. He quickly scans the family tree to see if he can locate similar heraldry on it anywhere.

"Seems odd that they would deed their house to pay for their son's resurrection when they have all of this gold and silver and this jewelry," Cilian says to the rest of the group.

the hearldry on the ring and pendant have a matching insignia on the family tree.

Osric says to Scythius, "I think they just said 'gold'."
Osric returns to the stairs and hollers to the others. "Are we now looters? Did you find any clues?"

In our position as deputies I would take those items and money with us, and return those to our town. We might be able to find a member of the family in the region and, if we do, we should hand them the money and other family belongings. says Serg

Searching the rest of the home you find nothing out of the ordinary. Over the next couple of hours as night falls the storm weakens.

Cilian agrees with Sergius.

"I'll see how much of it I can fit into the coin purse of holding, just to make it easier to carry. One of the bigger guys can carry the rest of the coin and I can keep the scroll and jewelry in my pack. When we get back to town, we can see if anyone knows of the family or any nearby relatives. If nothing turns up, we can use the coin to pay for the potions we had to borrow..."

Cilian starts putting gold coins into the magical purse...

The purse stops excepting coins at 500.

Vik momentarily frowns when Serg offers his thoughts but realizes he's right and what they have to do. "Aye, we swore an oath to Talon, alright. We should bring it back ta him and let him figure out what needs being done. We certainly ain't leavin it here for 'ol Jonus to find if he returns!" he exalts seriously, looking around to his childhood friends.

"Speaking o' which, if we're sure this place is all checked out n' safe and gonna be spendin the night here, we better do what we can ta be ready in case that bastard Jonus decides to return..."

Once everyone is down from the attic space, Cilian explains what they found to the others.

"So... what do we do now? We all need rest; this might be as good a place as any to get it. I think we should secure the outside doors and get a fire going in the fireplace and try to get some sleep."

I agree. Let's secure our shelter and stay here till morning.

Scythius begins searching for anything that could be used to bar the doors or windows.

We should be ready in case Jonus decides to return...

You can eisly push furniture in front of the doors and stack things in front of the windows.

The party starts a fire and settles in for the night.
