Bregalad helps Meagnor to his feet, and regroups with the party. "I may not be the fastest, Lanthorios, but I wish to find Quinthos and the other elves. They will need our help."
Bregalad will return to his horse, and then search for the village elves, aiding them in whatever way he can.
He has 2 waterskins and rations on his horse, and will use his tracking skill, if necessary, to find the village elves. (Tracking skill of 1, and 11 Wisdom)

Thordin the dwarf will help with searching the creature.

Where did you see that? If so, Thordin will volunteer to lead in.

Meagnor the Elf gets up with the help of Bregalad: "I'm really sorry...I could see what was helping, but there was someone else commanding my actions."
Meagnor will go with Bregalad: "I'm afraid of what could happen if those elves got Quinthos before you defeated that cursed creature."

Tratiln rises and begins apologizing to his friends, "My comrades, I am so sorry for what happened. When we entered the room I just saw the lights and then the stars and was compelled to defend that vile thing."
Tratiln will assist in any more destorying of it to make sure it stays destoyed.

Lanny the elf
Lanny advises Bregalad and Meagnor to hold a moment.
"Drudsa sees much of the gnomish sciences in this cube... I am wondering if the cube is but a machine that is controlled by a creature dwelling within it... If so, there might be something inside the cube that we'll need to obtain to be able to free the elves fully from their enthrallment... We cannot assume that they are now free..."
Lanny will take up his longbow and will wait (at a safe distance) for Thordin to finish his investigation of the hinged opening.
I might be wrong about there being something inside the cube, but I think it would be a good idea to check before leaving the caves or destroying the cube completely.

Bregalad the elf
Bregalad responds to Meagnor in their native tongue, pointing at the dark cube, "'Twas not you who attacked me, my friend -- but that unnatural evil, ancient and beyond our ken."

Bregalad turns to Lanny. "I agree with you, Lantharios -- searching the cube would be wise, but I do not wish to be near it. Whatever this thing is, it is older than even the elves and no longer a threat. And it does not look to be crafted by any gnome I have met. Their works are ingenious, yes, but they have a whimsical feel. This thing ..... it is unfeeling."
Bregalad turns back to Meagnor. "Come, Meagnor. Let us see to Quinthos and the other elves. Many of them may have not tasted food or water for days, and may be close to death."

Meagnor the Elf
"I'm afraid of what may have happened outside these caves, Lanny. Someone needs to check them."

Lanny the elf
Lanny nods in agreement with the elves.
"Then I will go with you too. The more elves to help them and guide them in their fragile state, the better. If they are indeed free of the enthrallment, then we should consider bringing them back to the outer cavern, where they can have shelter and where we can provide food and water and first aid. The sights of their dead kinsmen in and around their village might be too much for them to bear right now..."
Lanny gives it some more thought.
"We may need to camp in the outer cavern tonight, for we have no other shelter from this rain. Let us clear it of the dead ogres and make space for the village elves. We will need to retrieve our mounts as well."

Saul keeps pacing as he listens to Bregalad and Lanny but eventually breaks...
"Damn it! I'll take a look at the bloody thing! Just make sure you kill anything that comes out of it or at least don't kill me if I fall under it's power."
Saul will check for traps and see if he can find any hinges or other mechanisms.

Note that by this I meant the ancient artifacts retrieved from the Broken Lands by the Atruaghin couple, not the mechanical contrivances displayed by the gnomes.

The door on the face of Cube lies open and still. Thordin is able to peer inside, but is unable to discern much. About two feet in the roots of the tendril disappear between what look to be gigantic teeth mounted on some sort of teardrop-shaped axle. The interior is redolent with the smell of unnatural fire, rotten eggs and a faint oily aroma. There does not appear to be anything living inside.
The companions are clearing the outer cavern, dragging the corpses of the ogres outside, when Quinthos staggers in through the cave mouth. He looks worn and haggard. "The others. They collapsed a short distance from here . . . I do not believe them able to move much on their own. It seems as if whatever charm compelled them caused them to neglect food and drink."
In a niche behind where the four ogres had been standing guard the companions find several large leather sacks. Two contain a multitude of gold coins, some 4200 in total. There are four gems, valued at 500, 600, 1500 and 2000 gp, respectively. There is also a stoppered metal vial containing a liquid of some sort, by the sound of it, a slight and supple suit of chain mail and an ancient sword of what appears to be elvish manufacture.
The horses were left on the southern side of the village, remember. They should be fetched, as has been mentioned. I am not too concerned about turning this into a Red Cross disaster scenario, so if I could just get a couple lines describing bring the elves inside, getting them water and food, etc.

Tratiln, still a bit groggry and very upset over the events, "We should try to get the elves some basic help and see if we can round up some food, even if it's our own rations. Once the ogres are out of the caves we should get the elves in here post-haste. Quinthos, after a brief break for yourself, would you mind being on water duty, trying to collect some fresh water for the elves to bring in here?

Quinthos, elf
"Aye, I can do that. There is a spring not too far from here; I am guessing there are spare waterskins on the horses? For now it is raining hard enough for them to quench their thirst from the sky, at least for the nonce."

Thordin the dwarf
"It be the food I am worried about. None of use brought anything more than trail rations, and it seems these elves' food-stores destroyed."

Quinthos, elf
"You are right, sir Thordin. It seems as if the foodstores have been consumed or spoiled. If we can make it through tonight with what you all brought, I am convinced we can hunt enough to both feed my people and gift you with provender to replace what was eaten. Game is plentiful in these parts." He hesitated. "My friends, I must ask your forgiveness for my outburst the other day. It was unseemly, uncalled for and untrue. I hope you will recognize that what I said came from fear and uncertainty. If there is anything any of you shall ever need do not hesitate to ask, for I -- indeed, all my village -- is in debt to you."

Marodin the Cleric will address his henchman.
"Semele, well done! You have been blooded in battle, and even better, done so without being bloodied yourself! Now go help the others in bringing the elves back to the caves."
Once the elves are brought back, Marodin will give First Aid to all that need it. He will share freely of his stock of rations so that all have something to eat.

Bregalad the elf
Bregalad is thankful to hear that the other elves will survive. He will give his extra water skin and most of his dried rations to Quinthos. On the way back through the village, he will try to cut the ropes from which the dead elves are hanging, so that the bodies can be cared for properly.
The elf remaining hope is that there is still life in the great tree.....
He uses his Nature Lore and Arcane Lore skills (15 INT) to determine whether the tree still lives.

Bregalad presses his ear to the great tree and is barely able to make out a harmonious thrum, deep and low and long, as the oak slowly, glacially, breathes. It is likely it will survive.
Is Bregalad going by himself to fetch the horses?

Thordin the dwarf will join in retrieving the mounts. Surrounded by Elves is probably getting lonely not being surrounded by Elves.
