0004 Pequan to Tremous Dex
Re: 0004 Pequan to Tremous Dex
Two days before emergence, Zaki speaks up during lunch. "Are we planning to search for more bombs or other surprises? I admit I don't have experience at such things, but the dramas I've seen talk about people sabotaging airlocks to open both sides at once, and other things like that." She shrugs. "I know it's mostly some fiction writer's overactive imagination, but is it possible?"

Sigrún interrupts her instinctive grab and requests "Pass the veggies please". As she helps herself to veg to go with her preferred protein she states "It's possible with air locks but folk prepped for hull work or boarding should already be tethered and suited". Then turning to Doug she smiles "I picked up those pins and the tac gear you printed for me, thank you. Do you think the fit is good?"joertexas wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2024 12:02 am Two days before emergence, Zaki speaks up during lunch. "Are we planning to search for more bombs or other surprises? "I know it's mostly some fiction writer's overactive imagination, but is it possible?"
After a near week in jump and several print runs Sigrún's appearance has evolved from "storage creased coveralls, bandages and baggy T shirts" to something distinctly Swordy. One particular clothing trend seems to be cutting everything in half leading to cropped T shirts and a (halved coverall) crew jacket which is much less distracting than her short shorts. Small runes and fetishes now adorn her kit and also the new bespoke tactical gear she is currently cinching over her ever defining abs. Indeed the webbing gear plus her physique adds further strain on the “utility fit (female)” coveralls that are clearly missing the tailoring setting for "Amazonian" resulting in a very definite amount of décolletage. This particular "obstacle" to a quick draw may have influenced her choice of an inverted placement of the automatic in her shoulder holster but doesn't effect the crossdraw option on the snub pistol holstered on her left hand side - nor it's twin holstered for a left hand crossdraw over her lower back.
Having most definitely got Doug's attention she then suggests "We should put in new seals and then see how much overpressure we can generate in the airlocks. We also need to isolate the air lock grav plates to run them with zero G so the flechettes float free – we'll need about a kilo for each airlock”. Turning back to Zaki she states brightly “That's not really sabotage. More like “improvements”... or making the ship more... ah... welcoming!”
They're apparently all terrible folk - infamous throughout all civilized lands for their bestial habits...
I'm sure Terry will agree...

Zaki nods sagely. "I was hoping for something along the lines of, oh, don't worry, we checked everything and it's all working properly."Tiglath wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2024 3:55 pm

Either that, or he will travel the few miles from his house to mine, and challenge me to a duel...

Sigrún adds in apparent reassurance "The aft air lock definitely works - we threw the bomb out of it. Doug and Bob have worked through Engineering and Karcsi checked the staterooms and vents while I searched the cargo. Flighty checked the computer and avionics with Donovan and myself so I say we're good".
She then teases "Probably...".
Ooooh, will you be Harvey Keitel or Keith Carradine???

As the published, full-time author or co-author of 42 novels, I am the beast. And I was in the SCA and prefer a mace and shield.
Honestly, the only civilized response is to Tuckerize you both and have you die meaningless and humiliating deaths. Like being killed on the toilet in a space brothel after you paid but before you consummated the deal. I didn't do that to a friend, but it was so damned funny that I might do it to you jokers.

Re: 0004 Pequan to Tremous Dex
At least that's more merciful than being killed by the toilet in a space brothel...

It can be both. First some backflow to get you nice and lubed--like all over--and then sucked face first into the bowl when the pressure gasket goes.

"There are a couple of voids between bulkheads between Engineering and the Cargo Hold. Each are about a half ton space, oddly shaped and tagged as waste space, but..." he shrugs, "You can store things in there, if they're small."
"They weren't hard to find, were even in the specs, so I wouldn't call them Smuggler's holds, exactly." Doug says thoughtfully staring off into space as he speaks, "Actually, now that I think about it...hum, I'd have to check but the ceiling of Engineering is about a meter lower than the deck of the Garage."
He waves his fork around as he speaks, "Now the fuel intake pipes run through there, but that would only take up a little of that space, I think."
