Akhilleus welcomes the rest.

He says goodbye to the former prisoners after inviting them for the last time to barricade themselves with the group or try their luck in the desert at night being in the state they are.

If it's possible to have some rest like that, I'm fine with the watch rounds.

Another option would be 4 hours each, overlapping two hours with the next keeping watch.

Drest

I am fine with that order as well, the important think is we get the rest we need to get hp and spells back and that someone is on watch.

Cyril helps with the barricade and then settles in for a nap with his back against the barricade. As he is drifting off, he looks up to confirm if there is a ceiling in this area.

There is a ceiling in this room. The only open air locations on the map are the circular courtyard and the area to its immediate west.

Leaving the rescued humans to their fate, the group barricades themselves inside the room to sleep out the night.

After about three hours of uninterrupted rest passes, while Drest and Akhilleus are still on first watch duty, they start to hear a strange hissing noise coming from just outside the blocked door.

The others either remain unconscious or sleeping.

Valkrina

Would if awakened to danger grab her spear and trusty flute.

Drest

Drest wakes everyone quietly.

Whispering, "Our snakes are here."

Drest leans into the couch blocking the door to keep it shut.

Valkrina

Woken, will sneak to the door and listen. Can she tell how many there are. It seems a bit strange. 'the snakes will come' comment I thought might be related to random pythons slithering about or something more insidious such as a creature of mythos rather than a normal animal. (A snake-man?)

Drest

Lots of possible snake things in Hyperborea. I would think we would all be familiar with the more famous and common but the bard would know the most I would think. Probably have to open the door to find out and I have no interest in that.

Akhilleus guards the door in silence while Drest wakes the others. He unsheathes his sword slowly, his attention on the door and the floor immediatelly in front of it, to see if he has to slice some snakes necks.

Except if the animals are bigger than he expects.

Cyril awakens with a twitch. He then mutters, "Snakes...why did it have to be snakes? I suppose the only good news is that they have a hard time opening doors."

Cyril stands and does his best to spot gaps in the door frame that would let them in.
I hate to mention it but what is our light source situation here? Cyril has a few torches and can light one if need be.

There were candles left in the room, so I am assuming one of those was lit while you slept.

Drest wakes the others who all prepare for whatever is coming in their own way.

Valkrina places her ear against the door to get a better listen at the hissing noise, certain this is not coming from any normal snakes. When she looks at the crack under the door, she doesn't even think a snake could get through, and that's when she notices the barely visible almost clear mist slowly entering the room at her feet. Can I get a Save vs. Poison from Val and Drest, please? If you succeed, go ahead with your next action.

Snorri is still doing exactly as his name suggests, while poor Xenos remains out cold from the groups earlier battle.

Actions?

Xenos AC:6 0/12 1st:2/2 Unconscious
Akhilleus AC:4 19/32
Drest AC:7 3/16
Cyril AC:8 4/5 1st:1/3
Snorri AC:4 -1/11 Unconscious
Valkrina AC:7 12/16 1st: 1/2

Akhilleus remains in place, unawares of any gas entering the room.

Cyril groggily gets to his feet, assisting himself with his quarterstaff. He says to Drest, "Thanks Drest. What is happening? Oh wow, you don't look too good."

As the misty gas seeping under the doorway is noticed, Valkrina and Drest both decide to lay down on the divan blocking the door. They don't cry out or moan in pain, they just lay down and close their eyes as if they have both fallen into a deep, deep sleep.

Cyril gets to his feet and approaches the action, suddenly becoming even more sleepy himself. (Can I get a Save vs. Poison, please?)

Akhilleus stands there wondering what has just happened to his friends, the pair of strange magical stones still orbiting the warriors large head. He sees the gas entering the room and points it out to Cyril, as of right now, the only other person conscious inside their single entry sleeping quarters.

Akhilleus walks backwards. He moves to the back of the room, as far away from the door as possible, and looks for a handkerchief or a piece of cloth to use to cover his mouth and nose. He then kicks any piece of furniture he can find. He then remains still and alert.

His intention is to make the beings who are bringing in the gas believe that it has already affected even the people at the back of the room (hence the noise caused by the furniture, as if someone fell down when he became unconscious) and that they can now enter.

He grips the handle of his sword tightly.

Sleepy Time, Night

Cyril decides to take a rest next, plopping down on the crowded couch and leaving Akhilleus all alone to fend for himself against whatever waits outside the door.

The brave fighter backs away with his sword at the ready, creating a noise that sounds like a fall. After a few moments, he sees the door handle turn and the portal being forced open from the hallway side. When it hits the couch barricade, it is shoved on harder and harder, eventually creating a gap in the entryway large enough for the waiting fighter to visualize who is trying to get inside.
