Peaches McGee
Peaches cracks her knuckles, spits on her hands, rubs them together, and says a magic phrase that sounds suspiciously like hocuspocuscadabra.

Casts Spider Climb

Peaches grabs a rope and climbs up to the hole in the ceiling.

Sven tries not to stare too long at the new girls naked feet. :?

"Be careful now. Do you need a light source up there? If you see anything dangerous, don't mess with it," he dolts.

Sven snoops around in the treasure chest while Peaches climbs.

He pulls out the smelly clumps of yellowed stone and takes a whiff, remembering fondly a story he read once long ago.

"If these stinky lumps of pumice are what I think they are, we might have a pretty good score here. Good ol' whales. No wonder they kept em' locked up in here."

He looks over the rum bottle next, wondering if it is simply good spirits, or something more.

Exploring the Corridors

June 8th 1066

3.05pm. 'Temple Room'

Peaches invokes a spell to enable her to walk on all fours up the sides of the temple pillars, across the ledges and into the inner sanctum of Gabby's hole in the ceiling.

The narrow passage displays the features of a clawed out burrow, it is just wide enough for a stretchy, lithe creature like Gabby to slither through, the 'badass' mage finds just enough wiggle room for her 'wide ass' hourglass figure. It is short, going back perhaps ten or so feet into the earth and rock above the ceiling before opening into a wider nest type chamber. Dangling from roots which hang through the ceiling are various decorative trinkets; a set of long finger bones formed into a panpipe to blow a few discordant chords, a string of pointy ears each with a plain gold ring stuck through the lobe, a hastily written page of notes detailing the very same spell you have cast is stuck to the wall with a tooth used as a nail, more scrawled writing and study notes added to the margin. A few other items are about, non-descript adventuring gear well past the sell by date; a tankard, worn leather gloves, fondue set, cuddly toy.

The little chamber is fitted with a bed of coarse green-yellowed stalks with pungent tubular flowers. The scent is heady and pungent but not off putting. In fact, it has a rather different affect for the sniffed Nepetalactone begins to bind various protein receptors in your brain and provokes the mage to release her own heady pheromones. saves vs poison please or be affected by the nest of Catnip. Success and you can overcome the effect, fail and ... well did you ever go to Woodstock?

While Peaches is off exploring above, the others spread out. Sven adds some Ambergris nuggets to the treasure trove and the rum from Old Plighty brings back memories of the sea. A welcome dram is passed around each. He leaves a stone arm from the coffer among the bone pile.

Entering the hallway, he checks out the side passage to the east. It proceeds twenty feet before becoming a junction with passages going further east, north and south. You are about to check the junction when a skeletal robbed figure walks from the south passage perhaps drawn by the flickering light of your lantern. It passes by the junction and then steps quickly out of sight up the passage. Sven roll me a [1d100] and a [1d20] vs spells please. The newly found ring, taken from the bone pile throbs upon your finger briefly.

Orgoth takes the south of the entrance passage, wary of the wind blown threat from further down the corridor. You get to the rubble strewn portion and stop to examine the area using your Cromm masonry skill. It is as described, the stones hacked from the wall into a small ten foot crypt. An old stone coffer lies empty inside, the place unadorned except for a large shield that hangs on the facing wall above the coffer.

There is another hacked through crypt further south and to the west a slimmer passage, only 5'ft wide.

actions and rolls please

Before heading off to explore, Sven mentions to Peaches that the group was friendly with the creature who's lair she is currently exploring.

He is about to call for Orgoth once he sees the robed skeleton pass in front of him. Noticing the ping from his ring, he instead decides to concentrate on what that might mean.

Random Percentile Roll [1d100]=3

He pats his trusty companion on his head for some reason.

Save vs. Spells (11) [1d20]=17

"We got action over here folks!" He whispers to the clerics.

Creeping forward, he takes a look around the corner.

Peaches McGee

Save vs Poison (14) [1d20]=15

Peaches casts Detect Magic on the items she sees. Regardless of what she does or doesnt detect, she takes the ring and the spell pages. She also grabs the cuddly toy. She heads back down and reports on what she sees.

If she has time, Peaches reviews the spell pages and accompanying notes.

Exploring the Corridors

June 8th 1066

3.10pm. 'Temple Room'

Peaches resists the urge to snuggle into a nest of pungent Catnip, its heady effects not quite up to standard, (probably why Gabby asked for more). The note pinned to the wall is the copy of Spider Climb that Sven traded with the creature in exchange for the door keys. The cuddly toy is just that, the ear-rings on a string are plain as described. do you take them as is or fiddle with getting each ring out of the ear lobe it is attached to? Six rings in total.

Casting a Detect Magic , you examine the trinkets and none bar the scribbled spell on the torn page gives any indication of magic however buried inside the mattress of stalks you find a scroll tube shaped like a bone with a screw top head. Inside is a rolled dusty parchment tied with a filligree lace of thorns. You stuff the collection into a pouch and scuttle out of Gabby's nest, reclaim your boots and rejoin the others.

A strange figure has wandered up the neighbouring passage, seemingly ignorant of Sven standing nearby. He rubs his hands, a chill in his bones. That side passage does have a colder chill, an eerie darkness though his numbness seems something more. Eventually he can flex his fingers and point out what happened.

He goes forward with Amos, Orgoth behind, to sneak peek around the corners.

The passage opposite goes twenty feet and then turns to the north.

The immediate northwards passage on your left proceeds beyond your lantern light, at least 80'ft+.
Two large statues stand erect and on guard in alcoves set into the western wall of that passage at the 30'ft & 50'ft mark. Picture provided These are giant sized statues, as tall as an ogre but roughly human in shape. Unlike other statues you have come across, these seem made of hardened glass being dull opaque with swirls of colour inside as one might find inside a marble. Before each of their feet is a stone coffer which is covered in runes and sigils written in the blackest of tongues.

Southwards, the passage goes ten feet then opens into a 20'ft wide by 50'ft deep rubble strewn chamber.

There is no sign of the robed figure.

Sven looks around confused for a moment.

"It was right here. I saw a robed skeleton walk right past me. Did you guys see it? Where did it go?"

He looks down at the ring on his finger, touching it to see if it is cold as well. "Did it get sucked into this ring? Oh shit......" The young mage who isn't good at learning his lessons yet tries to remove the ring from his finger momentarily, just to see if he can.

"Well, I don't like the looks of these glass statues. Or more specifically the evil looking coffers in front of them. Anyone have any good ideas?"

"According to my map, this hall must end up ahead. Lets give these statues a wide berth and check to see what remains."

Interesting theory ... Sven totting a finger mounted particle accelerator powered by the gemstone that triggers a beam of protons to entrap negative energy spectres and hold them within an ethereal prison awaiting Judgement. Sorry no ghostbustery techno gadgets on show though that idea might inspire some creative Gnomish artisans.

Sven does show the ring off. He is very pleased with his find, taken from a skeletal hand hidden under a pile of bones. It suits his finger, so he thinks, how decadent and luxurious it appeals. No, he really feels it has grown upon him and taking it off would be almost sacrilegious. Certainly he would take first dibs on it when the treasure trove is divided, 'finder's keepers and possession being 9 / 10th of the law' and all that.

...

On another note, if the figure didn't get sucked into the ring, it may just have walked into the dark beyond the statues.

Sven shakes his head slowly.

"You'd think I'd learn from my mistakes eventually but I think this ring looks pretty good on me."

So, the robed figure passed from south to north?

He will encourage the group to investigate the northern hallway, hoping to find the figure again.

When she returns to the group, she takes a moment to examine the contents of the scroll she found.

Casts Read Magic.

Exploring the Corridors beyond the Temple Room.

June 8th 1066

3.15pm.

The group split into threes to buddy up. Truro, Treyvor and Peaches check out the south chamber. On first viewing it is as described, strewn with rubble. The south east corner of the room looks weakened from a bulge in the wall and many missing stones suggesting that section liable to further collapse but the main rubble seems to come from piles of stone that may previously have been statues for you see blocks with carved features like legs or heads. Not actual petrified people broken up, the features are more obviously caricature statues (an angel with a trumpet, a laughing imp, a fat man in 'buddha' pose'). Crossing the chamber to check in the east passage, Orgoth, Gnim & Bucko find it actual ends in that single square. The 10'ft x 10'ft alcove has an old stone bench and two armoured skeletons sitting at rest. In front of them is a small pool of murky water, bracken and yellowish. A drip of mineral water from the mounds above constantly plinks on the surface causing a few ripples that disturb the surface of the waters. A plaque on the wall suggests 'supplicants ponder in awe and fear, wash their sins and baptise their mortal souls'.

Going north and stopping between the statues, Sven, Amos & Yardie. Clearly, but not threateningly, the heads of the statues creak as they turn to watch your progress by. A casual nod as you swerve they by keeping to the west wall, a slight lift of the sword and a tap on the floor if you step closer to the coffers.

The passage ends fifty feet pass the second statue. On the east and west walls (50'ft & 30'ft away) are four crypt doors. The two on the west are closed and intact, the furthest lies in ruins, smashed into wooden pieces by the arched frame. The closest in the east is ajar and a sickly perfume wafts from this room.

Sven nods at the others, telling Peaches that those pages she just stole were recently ripped from his own spellbook.

"Let's keep within shouting range in here in case one of us runs into trouble."

He takes out 2 gold coins and drops one upon the top of each coffer as they pass, looking for any reaction from the statues.

Wrapping a cloth over his nose and mouth, he takes a deep breath and holds it before sneaking up to the first door on the right to take a peek inside, trying not to breath in the sickly sweet air.
