New move posted: everyone good with the plan?

Benedict tries to spoof orders
Romer bluffs the guards

If it devolves to a firefight, Silas tries to get on board and the rest of us do coverfire?

Basically if they radio upstairs to ask why a rag-tag crew of off-wordlers are here to take the ship, it probably won't end well!

Welcome to the game, Viktor.
- You sheet looks great mechanically, though feel go ahead and take a starting gear package. We can say that you scavenge some things from HF cargo loaded on-board the reclaimed Vale.
- Your backstory is good, but MES isn't quite the dreaded affliction you describe it to be, especially on Pavvis. The Academy itself is something like a cross between a Jedi Temple and an Ivy League university, with all the T4 conveniences you could ever need; once enrolled you'd be living a very good life by most people's standards. We could say that as he has a rare and valuable gift in Metapsyonics, the USPS (interesting concept by the way, I'd imagine they would have ties to The Exchange, perhaps even the Reclamist Faith, or both!) instead sponsored him into a specialised program for training brain-guards.
- Your goals seem fine, I'll go ahead and add them to the list if you're happy with them.
- Being born on Pavvis, it's likely though not assured that you have positive feelings about the Reclamist Faith. You don't need to alter anything in your backstory, but something to bear in mind.
- MES blockers are a new idea, but certainly something that could exist!

Oh, I assumed we were in combat and were going to go in initiative order. Yeah, that works for me.

Hey, Viktor, welcome.

This is going to need a Cha/Talk roll, and a fairly high one at that, unless you can make a good argument for some other attribute and/or skill in its place.
What are the rest of the party doing as Romer makes his move? Staying hidden?

My plan was for us to move forward as a crew, but that's up to each individual. Damian is acting as Romer's Second and I will try to post in the morning. I would like to aid Romer's check with my own, bolstering his legitimacy... let me know if there's guidance for that?

Edit:
He now rolled and so did I.

Found "Aiding a Skill Check" on page 47. If the DC is 10, his roll with my help can get there. If not, we need another supporting action that lowers the DC to 10 or less. :)

Or you let us know the jig is up and we escalate to violence... which is it's own level of fun.

Yeah, the check was DC10 exactly, which he will make with your Aid roll... though I'm not sure I'd take Int/Fix as a suitable Aid attempt.
However, I would accept Cha/Fix to overwhelm them with your presence via your technical jargon in support of Romer, which I believe takes your check down to 10, which is still a success!

Oh! totally fair. :) After years on this site I just recently started learning how to use macros. I rolled my "fix" macro and didn't even think about the attributes.

After a few frantic seconds, you find it exactly where you left it. Katya and the other passenger seem to be in some kind of drugged stupor, but they are not in any immediate danger. You give it about 12 hours for the dose to wear off.

Silas is free to leave any time, the ship is fuelled and the bay doors are open for departure. Where is the destination and what is the plan?

Making sure I recall things correctly. Please correct any false assertions.
  • We already met our obligation to the resistance by supplying the bomb for use against the array.
  • Both the downed array and the ruse we just put in place for stealing the ship are very time-limited and we are dependent on them for getting past the planetary defense system and back to space.
  • We had/have no chance of reclaiming use of our flying ambulance ship, which was on-loan.
  • Our object is to get back to space with Katya intact, then return her per our contract.
  • We have an OOC problem that we have PCs who went inactive. We IC should go back for them, but IC can't, and OOC don't want to rule them out. Can they find their own way off planet?
  • Damian has a personal problem that fleeing without going back for Ivana may result in his future castration.
Our plan was to escape with Katya and have a rendevous to pick up our other crewmen and Ivana (who was finding and acquiring the Veil of Tears). That plan is changed now that we're ON the Veil, and have Katya, with a narrow window for escape. Our hope was that the narrow window would lengthen based on the Resistance finding success in bombing and eliminating the planetary defense systems themselves, but we don't have confirmation of that success.

I think our current options are:
  • Make directly for space while the defense array is definitely down, ensuring the greatest chance of getting Katya out alive. Ask the Resistance to get the wounded/unconscious crewmen (and perhaps the fixed ambulance ship) out when they recover (allowing them to OOC rejoin in the future if players return and alleviating the IC guilt factor of leaving men behind).
  • Take the Veil back to the Rebellion to pick them up, which may or may not complicate our capability of getting off-planet and back into space depending on their level of success at taking out the planetary gun systems.
I don't know if it is a legitimate source of IC angst or just an OOC guilt.

I'm in favor of leaving it for Silas to stort IC as the decisionmaker. :)

This was the biggest issue I could see, and was wondering if you wanted to make some kind of rescue run in character, or if you'd prefer to just say it happened on your way off planet. You currently have 6 people on a ship that houses 12, so even after picking up Odo, Agnahr and Wei you could potentially slip another 3 NPCs away, if they were willing to leave with you. Let me know your thoughts.
