I think our Hobbit is broken.
This entire post was hilarious!

I'm back... a little stressed, listening to the fire fighting planes fly over my house. I am reasonably close to the Pawnee Fire in northern California (as in, I live in Clearlake Oaks). This is the 4th year we have had seriously large fires in Lake County, and I think everyone is traumatized.
Meanwhile, I'll go see what Br. Gilbert needs to do.

That sounds frighteningly serious.

You could always move up to Wisconsin, where nothing bad ever happens. (except for tornadoes and the occasional blizzard)
Keep yourself safe, SM!

Are you ready for yet another embarrassing mind change from the DM?
I have been thinking about my earlier ruling on the Enlarge spell where Gary suggests that clothing and armor would get ripped up if cast on a clad person.
I think I might renege on my initial thinking. Since Enlarge is only a 1st level spell, and I assume that note was placed in the DMG to limit the power of said 1st level spell, I am inclined to enact that little tidbit from now on.
So, ignore the fact that I said clothing and armor wouldn't be damaged. Since weapons stay the same size, I think armor and clothing should too.
I apologize for being so wishy washy on this matter, but now that I have given it some proper thought, I think Gary was right.
So, from now on, please keep that in mind if this spell is ever used on a person again.
Apologies for being so damn disagreeable, Mr. Storm.

Not at all!
Though it is ok to answer a question like that IC as well if you like.
Just so all of the newer players know....I normally consider anything that happens in the main threads to be common knowledge that can be shared among all the players in the game. It could be hearsay, rumor, or just someone bragging in the tavern, but you would have all at least heard of pretty much everything that has happened here so far. (with a few exceptions that should be obvious, i.e. what is currently going on with Bonnie and Keilif etc.)
The reason I have a private thread set up for each player is for things that you might not want the other players to see. (for whatever reason) Some of the players in this game have just as much action going on in private as they do in the public threads. Some players choose not to use their private threads at all, which is also fine by me. For the most part, you will get as much out of this game as you put in. If you want to simply follow along with a group, that is great. If you want to conquer the island all by yourself, I can accommodate that as well.

Well at least Chauncey snuck in one casting before the Great Spell Nerfing took effect.

So... it seems to me someone who knew we were there wouldn’t blast a horn and give themselves away. If they knew we’d settled in they’d run back to the other camp and get help without alerting us, right? So the signal might be for something else?

The shoreline is not as far from the jungle as the map indicates. The beach is only about 30-40 feet wide on average, but that does vary slightly depending on where you are.
OK, so we are using Apple Maps. Good to know.
For future reference, at 1 mile per hex, the beach should've been drawn as a line, which gives a more accurate impression.

Really? Thanks for the info.
I prefer to make the outdoor maps more visually friendly for the user than perfectly accurate. I kinda doubt that most of us would be able to discern one tiny tan line at the waters edge. I made the beach a bit wider on the map so it would be more noticeable.
Do me a favor......
Look at it as if one of your characters has drawn out the maps instead of the person running the game. I seriously doubt that most hand drawn maps created by adventuring parties would be perfectly accurate.

OK.
In that case I wouldn't have drawn a beach at all. Maps don't have to be accurate, just not create too many false impressions, which is why I had to ask how wide the beach really was.
I shall ask first next time. Lesson learned.

Just a quick FYI for everyone....
tomloshang has left the game. Gwen will be assimilated into the mass of random adventurers roaming this part of the island.
I’m not sure what has happened with Xyxax. I hope he comes back, but I will NPC anything directed at the constable for the time being.
Thanks and carry on.

Now the island assimilates people!

We need a list of all the ways people have died/been npc'd on the island.

I'll take the chance of being labeled a kiss-ass, but I cannot imagine anyone wanting to leave this game! I have been enjoying this from my first day!
