If the group agrees to stick together, whoever has a light source should post that he is lighting it up and we can proceed.

Thurinor has exactly 5... candles -- that's right, candles... one good puff of wind and out she goes! But he'll light one if no one else has anything better...

Not really. He is on a higher vantage point than last time but he can't see the end of the forest or the swamp; plus there is less detail from this distance.zebediah wrote:Ogirdor picks the torch offered by Swilbosh and moves in.

Re: OCC Thread
This quip from zebediah made me notice something, rfrahm87 (Ozborn's player) has not been to the Unseen Servant forums since the 12th of December. His last entry was back when the party was chatting with Swilbosh on the old keep, after Ozborn got hit by teh crossbow-trap.zebediah wrote:Ogirdor nods in agreement with Andrin Let us check the door then. Oz, can you see if there are traps on it?
On the whole that is two whole months of radio silence! I think it is fair to assume he has bailed out?

Gawd darn it! And me and Saalaria had to go with all the trouble of making Swilbosh and inserting him into the campaign because rfrahm87 beat him to nab Ozborn after Ra the Monk had to leave...is it just me or is this starting to look like a soap opera?
I guess I got to re-open the recruitment thread, and we have to be in hiatus until someone takes over Oz and goes for them doors.

Re: OCC Thread
The last time Stonjuz scouted ahead, alone, in the dark, he ended up in the lake earlier.....
Re: OCC Thread
I also want to take this opportunity, while we are on the subject of replacement players to tell you all to think about bringing these characters into the game called The Inn of the Unseen Servant.
Vargr can tell us, if he hasnt already, what the current year is, here on the mountain.
Fifteen or so years later, it is possible to be alive and in Greyhawk. (Unless it is supposed that no one survives the Serpent)
Would it be too weird to play the same character in two different time periods? Simultaineously.
And what would be the norm for character leveling over that span?

Re: OCC Thread
Huh...I think that is putting the oxen in front of the cart to be honest. But the idea of carrying PCs from one campaign to next after they finish/survive a current one is not something I'd be opposed to.
I have set the year of UK5 Eye of the Serpent as 575 C.Y., or one year before the official start of the Greyhawk Campaign according to the original 1st ed World of Greyhawk folio.
As for leveling up out-of-game in terms of passage of years, the only system that even comes close to that concept that I have developed (but not used...yet) is a minimum age modifier for chargen if you start above 1st level equal to one year per level above the first for humans, and an equivalent ageing according to lifespan for demihumans.
Oh, and since Stonjuz's game is 2ndEd AD&D and we are using house-ruled OSRIC for UK5 (including a different ability score modifiers table) it would mean these PCs would be serious nerfed in a transfer.
But like I said, carts and oxen. We do not know what will happen, maybe the party will be successful finding their way out of Hardway Mountain (and back to civilization). maybe there will be a TPK or something in between. We also have no idea how long IRL it will take until the module is over.
If the gang really enjoyed playing the module, after it is finished maybe we can keep the PCs and sort something out. Maybe delve into another UK series adventure, almost all of them take place in Greyhawk and were written by the same guys.

Re: OCC Thread
Yea, extremely difficult and maybe not such a great idea after all.
Re: OCC Thread
Fortunately the fun and challenge of playing old Swil outweighs any bitterness on my part!
I appreciate the hassle factor for you though varg!

Re: OCC Thread
That's right, things didn't go so well for Oz right at that point... must have scared rfrahm off... Could you just NPC him until someone picks him up?
BTW, bringing old characters over or not, Stonjuz's campaign is a lot of fun, y'all. I brought my half-orc from the elf campaign that died on arrival, with some fun modifications. If you're looking to add a game...
I'll stick with Thurinor as long as he lasts!

Sounds like we have a replacement player for Ozborn. Chubbypixie from my IM15 game will be joining us.

I'd never even heard of this module somehow, so I'm excited to see what happens. I do have my original "World of Greyhawk" boxed set from back in the day for reference. Never used. Now I can at least check out the ginormous map and wonder where we are...
