to Keilif: "Hold on! Before you touch it...." He twirls his fingers in a mystical way towards the sack: by applying his Flay cantrip, the aim is to magically and remotely rub off so much mildew from the material that Keilif can grab it without risk.

Vhing Cranepool

Only 7ft to the hole, well at 6ft Vhing could touch the ceiling. So lighting his bullseye lanthorn, he tosses it softly into the rafters. Taking the coiled rope, unless someone gives him a leg up, after making a small jump and reaching up for the side edges. Vhing wriggles through and pulls himself up into the attic if he can.

(Hard strength test made. 4d6= 14 vs 17str)

Shining the lantern beam about just to check his surroundings, Vhing will tie off the rope around some sturdy beam and call the others up. If he has too, Vhing will use his small hammer and pitons to nail the rope more securely.

We found a purse with 11 gold in the pile of clothes. It is very strange that a pile of fresh clothes were laying on the floor and no sign of who they belonged to.

"Got it!" cries out Jónas suddenly, as the box springs open in his hand. He holds up a small green marble. "Amazing! What kind of material is this?"

Burly helps Vhing however he can, giving him a leg up or a shoulder to stand on.

Doubtful

Doubtful thinks on how now there are two different floors that have only partially been searched and we are starting to explore a third. The arithmetic on just how many exposed flanks we are up to escapes him. Resignation seeps deeper into his bones and he watches silently for now.

The party spreads out along the upper floor. At the top of the landing, Jonas exclaims that he has solved the puzzle box and discovered its contents. He holds up a mysterious green marble of an undetermined material for the others to see. Alec the dwarf has a look but neither of the two can identify the material of the green marble.

The nearly unconscious Vhing is still determined to blaze a trail for the others despite his recent and still rather evident injuries. He jumps from the wood of the collapsed stairway that leads up into the howling attic. He struggles mightily to pull himself up into the dark hole above but he eventually throws his leg up, rolls over, and begins to stand.

Keilif and Danny enter the storage room to find the much better dressed Burly admiring his new tighter fitting clothes. Burly watches the two poke around in the moldy sack of rotting clothes. The same one that he just dug through. He stops Danny before he wastes his last bit of magic, telling them there is nothing to find inside but moldy rags.

Nothing else of value or interest is found in the storage room. (17)

Doubtful just shakes his head at the mass chaos unfolding around him. He watches as the nearly dead half-orc moves up to yet another unexplored level of the house and wonders how the group could possibly leave themselves any more vulnerable. He keeps his thoughts about it to himself, for now.

Burly and Jervis then move in to try to help Vhing up into the attic hole but they find that the rotting wood of the stairway under their feet tends to provide rather unstable footing.

The ever silent Ermulf lends a helping shoulder for the sickened Ben to hold onto.

Injuries:
Jonas, slightly
Ben, moderately (sick, poisoned)
Vhing, seriously

Doubtful

Noticing a green Ben, Doubtful goes to him and begins asking questions and examining him in an effort to come up with possible treatments for the poison. Lacking any more ability with cantrips for the day, he instead tries to comfort Ben and think of natural aids. He positions himself and Ben so as to keep an eye on the second floor landing that leads toward the unexplored portion of the second floor in case anything comes along.

Finding nothing of further interest, Keilif joins Jervis and also listens to the door down the hall.

Burly quickly moves away from the questionable flooring, but does not leave the room. "Vhing! Everything alright up there?"

Brushing any mildew dust out of his otterskin cape, Danny - after exiting non-fun-room 17 - moves across the landing, to peer out of the nearest of the windows in the corridor. What can he see out there ?

Doubtful gives Ben a quick look over and realizes that, even though he is rather sick, he is still somewhat functional. Danny tires of searching boring moldy rags so he takes a look out the window across the hall. He wipes the grime away to get a nice view of a small paved patio choked with weeds in the yard below and an amazing look out onto the cliffs and the sea beyond. Jervis and Keilif move to the next unopened room, hearing no sound from within. They carefully and cautiously open the door.

This room was once a large, beautiful bedroom, but is now decaying and filthy. Damp mold covers portions of the walls and ceiling and rubbish is strewn liberally around the floor. In the center of the room is a single mattress which has been badly torn and from which the stuffing protrudes. Under the window sits a large wooden chest, it's timbers split and it's lid closed.

Back at the landing....

Burly watches and shouts encouragement up to Vhing who abruptly proceeds to do a fireman pole slide back down to the landing, only, without any pole. He spikes his lantern down in front of him and a small flame flares up on the attic floor. He then jumps back through the opening, trying hard to catch his fall on the way down. Ahhhhh! A nest of batquitos!!! He lands hard with the rotting wood of the collapsed stairway beneath him. He remains conscious, barely, but is now laid out flat on his back.

The group at the landing soon realizes the cause of the half-orc's desperation bail out as two bat like creatures dive down through the the attic hole. They fly around for a second to relocate their target again and then fly directly at Vhing, attempting to poke him with their mosquito-like proboscis.

Are we close enough to hear the disturbance? If so, Keilif will rush forward with mallet in hand. If not, he will carefully approach the chest under the window and attempt to lift the lid.

Doubtful

Speaking to the Batquitos, I know how you feel but he's with us, and then swinging his club at the nearest one.

initiativeinitiative [1d10] = 6
to hit [1d20] = 4 damage from club [1d6+1] = 4+1 = 5

You three can definitely hear the commotion. You just cant get there to attack until next round.
