Hmm did I miss something did the ferry drivers end up turning on us?

Nevermind i see where Calen is fighting both a orc and one of the idiots that ran the ferry.

yeah, he don't 'Lead" as much as makes decisions for the GM to save time -- marching order type stuff. I can vouch for GW, in that, he will consider all information brought to his attention. He is the leader in another campaign in which I am a player. He fills the roll well.

But sometimes, you might want to slow him down. Get him to look at something more carefully.

Let me add, don't listen to Calen. He is in a rush to smite.

I agree If I get to re-read sometimes I missed something the first time round. Calen is a silly smiting fool ;)
GM borrows space: Yeah, if Calen ain't in a fight, his opinion is that the party is wasting time.
Once there is a fight, the party is managing time well.

To protect his master, Baruch's song bird Te Kang also joins in by hacking away at said orc: Baruch's songbird beak peck [1d2-1] = 1-1 = 0, damage vs L opp: [1d6c1] = 0

Common man! Roll a D20 for that little bird. If it hits it can do 1/4 pt of damage. :D

A bird that small would be, what? AC -2?

Roll a D20 for that little bird.
OK, Te Kang's ancestors were indeed thunderbirds, so I'll roll as suggested next time. For the moment though, he flutters back into the safe interior of Baruch's rucksack, with a frightened squeak

Orc Ambush
Round 3

On the southern most extreme of the battlefield, Calen is toe to toe with Gog the deceiver and the Orc Chieftain. Calen parries a blow from the Chief while Freki distracts Gog. Blows are traded, but none land.

To Calen's right, Baruch does battle with Magog and another Orc. The priest is in fine form as he deflects a blow from each opponent and then gives Magog a well deserved thumping (-6). Magog remains standing, and fighting.

Garrett confronts the sub chief. The Orc fights from the back of the wagon , gaining high ground, while Garrett defends himself from the ferry's deck.

The goodly rogue is cut down by the sub chief's 2 handed sword (-8hp).

The sub chief turns to jump off of the wagon, leaving poor Garrett motionless on the deck.

3 Orcs have been made to wake-up. They engage the flank destroyers.

Two Orcs recognize the martial prowess of Montego the ranger. So, they double team him. Neither can land a blow. Montego returns the favor by splattering an Orc. A pink mist explodes and everyone is peppered by Orc brains.

Sanu
is barely missed by a short sword attack. He counters and strikes an Orc down. Then he turns his horse and slays another - a twofer for the Barbarian.

Titus, proud possessor of a real warhorse, can not connect with his spear. So, the Warrior of Westmarch drives the horse over his opponent. Then he puts it in reverse, and backs over him.

Svent,
riding behind Titus, Sanu and Montego, is forced to pause for a moment. His companions kill too quickly.

Svent navigates around Sanu, and sees Baruch double teamed. Svent issues forth magical energies from his fingers. He adds insult to Magog's injury and kills the lying bastard.

SUMMARY
Milli, Fred, and Garrett are at 0 or less.
Calen fights 2
Baruch fights one
Sub chief is selecting new target
The flank was destroyed again and all 4 guys are free
that's only 4 opponents. Moral will be rolled next round for orcs

Svent does nothing besides head to Garrett to at least try and remove him from the battle....

Baruch to Svent, in elven, while fighting: "Keep watch over Garrett, I've got one redivivus left for him, but have to deal with these reptant *&€ers first"

But doing two things at a time is seldom clever: Hammer to hit: [1d20+1] = 2+1 = 3, damage vs S/M opp: [1d4+2] = 1+2 = 3 / damage vs L opp: [1d4+1] = 3+1 = 4....."OOOOPH"

Titus will charge the female orc on shore, hoping to scare her off before she can wake seven more enemies to deal with. If she does not run, he will ride her down.
Attack with Spear: [1d20+3] = 4+3 = 7
Warhorse Trample: [1d20] = 3
Ugghh...that wasn't very intimidating. I may have renewed her confidence.

Montego sees the battle is nearly won. He wipes the Orc blood from his face and continues his onslaught of hatred. He will continue riding to the skirmish at the ferry to try to cut down any leader types that are left alive. if common Orcs get in his way......they will be dealt with accordingly.
Attack w/ 2 Handed Sword [1d20+3] = 20+3 = 23 Damage [1d10+5] = 7+5 = 12 Daaaaaamn! Why cant I roll like this in real life?
Critical hit [1d100] = 88

Sanu finds another Orc to attack:

Attack: [1d20+3] = 1+3 = 4 Dmg: [1d8+4] = 2+4 = 6 Crap!

[1d100] = 99

Calen, deflecting against the two orcs revels in combat. He swings again at the Chieftain.

Halberd(Specialized): [1d20+1] = 9+1 = 10, Damage: S/M[1d10+5] = 4+5 = 9, L[1d12+5] = 3+5 = 8

Freki continues to go after Gog, trying to drag the orc down to the ground and rip his throat out.

Calen's Wolf: (HP 16, AC 7) To Hit: [1d20] = 2, Damage: [1d4+1] = 4+1 = 5

Calen destroys anything he hits so far, only problem is he never hits anything

Orc Ambush
round 4
Image

As Ferki lunges at Gog, the 1/2 Orc retreats and repeats, we surrender we surrender.
Gog can barely keep from being bitten.

Gog and Magog's mother
appears from the south on horseback and begins to moan and cry. She rushes to Magog and whales by his side.

Montego's charge is not complete. As the sub chief exits the ferry he is met by the ranger, who runs him through. Revenge for cutting down 2 party members.

The Orc chief throws his hands over his head, and pleads, my children, my children. Calen stands before him, receiving his plea. The chief's halberd thuds on the ground.

Titus charges the female waking other Orcs. She evades him. Titus sees her dash into a shallow cave, only about 50 feet into the woods. Titus sees the Orc children peeking out of the cave in amazement.

Svent runs onto the ferry. Quickly finds the healing potions and administers one to Garrett.
GW Please roll D8+1 for HP recovery

Moments after seeing Magog fall, Baruch's opponent turns and runs to the cave.

One common Orc, Gog and the Chief stand before the party attempting to surrender. Mom crys over Magog. An adult male Orc, a female, and 3 little Orcs are known to be in the cave.

The party begins to notice corpses from other Orc victims. The Orcs had a productive day before they met the rancher/philosophers. The party can not help to note, even MORE horses, and captured equipment from both Merit's and Regenia's armies.

This victory will provide an impressive haul.

Fredricus and Milli remain bleeding on the ferry deck.

Can an unconsious person benefit from a healing potion ? Baruch wants to heal both Milli and Fredericus but wants to do it the right way, i e hand a healing potion to the person who is awake enough to drink, and cast a healing spell on the one who isn't. Anyway, here is the healing spell roll: Cure light wounds, heals [1d8] = 3 points of damage
