Quick clarification: the lawful good holy symbols in the doors look like "original equipment" that was part of the ornamentation of the doors when they were installed, not carvings added later.

Robert too examines the scratched out symbols "I imagine this is what Vorkath's symbol will look like soon." He then checks the doors to see if they are locked.

"Speaking of our forceful friend," says Tibbius, "... where has he gone?" He dips his shoulder, and Randolph leaps down and doubles back to find the pally.

Vorkath, Paladin
The Sword of the True God steps from the scribe-counter's room, quickly closing the door. Some smoke escapes.
"I am done there," says Vorkath to Tibbius upon seeing him. "That's one less evil in the world, and Strahd will find his record keeping difficult now."
The paladin looks at the rug, considering its kindling potential, but then moves on to take up the rear in the marching order.

Robert "I don't like that Vorkath is lagging behind. I fear he has lost his grib on good and has murdered a captive the old scribe I fear has just been burned alive by our Paladin." Robert says with a heavy sorrow for both the scribe and the loss of good in the once Paladin companion. "I fear he is slipping and does not even realize it."

Illuq looks down the hallway for Vorkath to arrive, speaking in a hushed tone to the others, "I fear for the Paladin as much as anyone else here but now is not the time for this. Let us watch him and if he slips we shall handle it then, for now let us worry about surviving what comes for us as we search the place. We shall save no one if we are all dead."

You examine the double doors. Robert tries the handles and finds that the doors are not locked.
Tibbius, concerned about the Paladin, sends Randoplh back to look for him. The cat encounters Vorkath on his way back to rejoin the party. The holy warrior declares that another evil has been removed from the world. Some of you shudder to think what that must mean, but now is not yet the time to worry about that.

Illuq ignores the words of the paladin for now, he stands ready to face whatever is beyond the doors as Robert opens them.

Robert opens the right hand door all the way. He readies his sword. "Be at the ready friends and Vorkath."

Tibbius again takes the form of an invisible stalker.

Tumbler lets out a small laugh at Robert's quip at Vorkath. The big human has been a bit on the destructive side lately but on the other hand the undead don't deserve many considerations.
Tumbler has been keeping unusually quiet, a sign of his concern at the situation the group is in. He wishes he was at hoe working on some new designs instead of being stuck in this awful place.

Robert takes a deep breath and opens the right hand door all the way open. He readies his sword.
"Be at the ready friends and Vorkath," he says, signalling the party's recent tension with its firebug holy warrior.
The door opens onto a long, dust-covered balcony overlooking a vast rubble-strewn room. Two large, ornate thrones stand in the middle of the balcony. The thrones face away from the door you just opened. The thrones could easily shield someone sitting in them from anyone behind them.

Illuq slowly edges into the balcony area, "I shall investigate, watch out for any forces of evil lurking in the shadows." He then cautiously makes his way towards the thrones, edging towards the sides so that anything hiding on the throne cannot grab him, he keeps his eyes always moving, searching the throne for movement, the walls, ceiling, and shadows for movement, and his mouth silently uttering a prayer for protection.

To see what's in the thrones, you'll have to get close enough that anything in them could reach out and grab you. Your choice.

Robert will follow Iluq but 10 paces behind him ready to cast a spell if needed.

Illuq gulps, reining in his fears, and concedes to the DM's will. He shall approach the thrones...

Robert will circle around the opposite direction Iluq is going. Sword drawn and at the ready and a spell on the tip of his tongue.

Tumbler moves alongside Robert with his crossbow up and trained on the closer throne. His finger is tight over the trigger.

Vorkath approaches from the rear with Excommunicator drawn.
"A safe aerial view Tibbius of throne and room?" suggests the paladin to deaf ears as the others approach the throne closely.
The Guardian of the Truth stands ready to defend the others.

You carefully edge toward the thrones, Iluq and Agrippo to one side, Robert and Tumbler to the other. Vorkath covers the rear. The invisible Tibbius—well, he’s invisible; you can’t quite see what he’s up to, but his footsteps show in the thick dust that covers the floor in this place, right to the point where he must have taken flight. Ireena stays back.
When you slowly poke your heads around the sides of the thrones, arms with rotted gray green flesh reach out to grab you! Faces with bits of flesh coming off try to bite you! Two zombies sit in the thrones, and they’re attacking!
