so we have a rope strung across the pit- right? how would one cross most safely? Do we need someone holding the end or not?

It's spiked into the wall and ceiling at either end. You can cross it like a rope bridge.

McCloud, matrixed mid-leap, is he frozen by a spell or did he hit an invisible wall and now flat faced and rubbing his nose? any saving throws? what can he consciously see and hear?

Skarlos, very carefully, crosses the pit on the ropes. Once on the other side:

"McCloud - are you okay? What's happened?"

McCloud looks like a lifelike statute, but not one that's been turned to stone. He's just stopped in place.

The other figure looks something like this:

No save. This is the Tomb of Horrors.

Quinn begins playing a loud tune on his lute in an attempt to charm the figure.

The tune has no discernible effect on either the figure or McCloud. Both remain motionless at the end of the hall.

"Neither are moving," Quinn points out. "There are spells that banish illusions and other strange magic but I have already cast mine."

"The second figure could also be a victim of some evil magic," Quinn observes.

Quinn will try to lasso McCloud and drag him back towards the group.

Making a rope into a lasso and throwing it over someone is kind of a specialized skill. Please roll a d20 against dexterity at +6.

[1d20] = 17 Dex is 16

You throw the lasso. It flies towards McCloud a bit off-target. When the loop approaches McCloud, it freezes in mid-air. You pull the rope back to you, and the loop drops back to the ground.

"It is like everything within that area is frozen in place. Unless someone else has the means, I will need to rest and recover my spells. Hopefully an abjuration designed to banish magic will work."

OOC: If nobody has anything better, Quinn will rest and prepare dispel magic.

Doh! I have Dispel Magic memorised...

Skarlos moves closer if needed (not too close though) and calls forth his god's power...
Dispel Magic cast at end of hall

Skarlos dispels the magic at the end of the hall, freeing both McCloud and the diminutive fellow behind him, who falls on his rear end.

The small chap gets up and dusts himself off. "Thank you, whoever you are. My name is Bagrin Bizfin."

Welcome ragnboneshopper! He's on the road and unable to post at the moment, but he'll be joining the party when he gets back. I'll NPC Bagrin if necessary until then.

Status: Skarlos (C10): 51/56; Urdak (Dwarf F10): 71/75; McCloud (F6/MU6/T10): 20/40; Quinn (B13(F7/T8)): 68/78; Bagrin 45/45
