The version of Fifth Frontier War I played was the "electric" version for the Vassal system. Ticked all the boxes for me: a nostalgia kick and nice aesthetics. A number of the old skool boardgame classics (Avalon Hill/SPI) are available for free on that platform and being "electric" you can't sneeze and wipeout days of play / accidentally swallow any of your units...

I played a lot of Panzer Blitz/Leader back in the 70's. Followed on with Tobruk (not great), Arab/Israeli Wars (better) and Squad Leader (great). I really preferred the more strategic level games, though, like D-Day, Midway, 1776, Origins of WW2, oh and
Blitzkrieg. Yeah, I liked Blue vs Red on a great big continent. Heck! I go back to Gettysburg and Tactics II with AH games and that was mid-60's. Did y'all ever play The Perfect General over modem? Flawed in 1 player, but a lot of fun in 2 player mode.

That was the last "war game" I played, though. I considered the internet version of The Perfect General, but never picked it up.
I started with Blue vs. Red mid 70's and moved up to huge Panzer genre mock up battles with several maps.
Me and my buddy hosted a battle with 9 boards and 3 rooms, 3 copies of the same board in each room, Axis, Allies and main board.
Commander on each side had 3 sub commanders which had to operate from written orders from their general.
It was terrific and chaotic and WAY to much work.
The ?british? guy with lots of arty was so pissed, he only got good fire missions about 15% of the time.

Of course my taste for analogue games still resists the digital world...

I was not familiar with electronic version of fifth frontier war. Does it still exist?

Arkar has voiced (at least to himself) about immediate cyber surgery, but are external arguments that are available?
360 degree glasses, attachments to his extra appendages et cetra.
BTW, neat game, I miss the old day of Panzer Leader/Blitz and so on.

I always liked "Fire Team" by West End Games - WWIII US vs Soviets in the Fulda Gap. I also played several Gettysburg versions, and even Tactics II.

Ah, a quiet game day. Bummer. Maybe the Imperials will hand off to a new sensor operator tomorrow and I can gin up some excitement of my own.

The guild leader has returned! Good, maybe I won't have to amuse myself tomorrow by complicating things.

Precisely what I was thinking after reading:
”…and you will be in danger from those who covet what you have or fear what you will become. That is why it was imperative to take steps to protect you by creating your first Archive. ... Welcome to you, the newest--and perhaps last--of the Ancients."

I’m being admitted to the hospital for testing for a day or two to see why I have double vision and will be doing the game from my phone. Be entertaining.

And on a completely unrelated note, I uploaded the ship late last night and didn’t look closely enough. It’s the wrong version. The crew area is correct but not the cargo and engineering section. I’ll update those once they cut me loose.
