Re: Tracks In The Desert
The Ruined Warlords Palace
Looking For The Inn, Early Evening
Drest and crew avoid the stinking furthest door to try the southernmost entry first. The door opens into a room none of them expect to find. Where most of this place has fallen into complete ruin, this area looks like the most well preserved place they have seen so far. The walls are adorned with 5 woven gold-threaded tapestries while 3 fine reclining couches are spread out along the floor.
Evidence of former occupancy is obvious, but this area is far less filthy. Though the cannibal slaves clearly stayed in here, there is no sign of graffiti, blood, feces, or other damage evident in the other rooms. A strange pane of glass about 8" x 8" can be seen on the floor under one of the couches, also oddly left in tact by the rooms former occupants.
There is currently nobody at home here, and the door's locking mechanism seems to be fully functional, though its key is nowhere to be seen.
Actions? Xenos AC:6 0/12 1st:2/2 Unconscious
Akhilleus AC:4 19/32 Poisoned (-4 on attack/dam rolls)
Drest AC:7 3/16
Cyril AC:8 4/5 1st:1/3
Snorri AC:4 -1/11 Unconscious
Valkrina AC:7 12/16 1st: 1/2

"Looks like we found our spot. We could lock ourselves in, at least if someone tries to get in it will give us some warning."
Drest moves into the room and searches it, he does not touch the strange pane of glass.

Akhilleus keeps his ground, guarding the spot in front of the kitchen door.
"It there a way out from there? You also could check the other room if you still haven't. Better avoid any surprises."

Valkrina
Bags the couch in the southwest corner. She looks at the fixtures and furnishings. *Great, much better than the rest. We should move in quick and secure the place."
She will check out the glass. A mirror? Stained glass? An actual window pane fixed in the floor?
She investigates in case it has a greater significance than just a random glass pane, using her Folklore bard ability.
Valkrina: uses Bard Folklore knowledge to gain insight? vs 15 wisdom. [1d20]=19 or % chance [1d100]=74

Akhilleus starts moving his wounded companions to the room and asks the traumatized ex-captive to come along.

Re: Tracks In The Desert
The door lock needs a key to lock or unlock it, or a steady hand and some good picks.
The tapestries are about 5' by 8', so not too big to roll up and take along with you. (10lbs or so x 5 of them)
The Ruined Warlords Palace
Looking For The Inn, Early Evening
Akhilleus starts dragging the unconscious bodies of Snorri and Xenos into this new room, trying to determine if the pair of captives from the horrible kitchen are willing to stay with them as well. The female captive eventually revives her male companion, but neither of them looks to be in very good shape physically at the moment. "We are NOT staying in here! The snakes will come for you and you will all DIE!!!" They continue to wander around in the open courtyard, unwilling to follow orders or listen to reason, only mumbling about snakes and being eaten alive. They continue to mourn someone they both respected by saying the name Jeoffery over and over again.
Cyril taps on the pane of glass after the couch is moved over by the door, hearing the distinctive tone the thin material makes upon contact. Valkrina picks it up and looks it over, trying to think back if she has ever heard of such a thing before. She has no recollection of such an item, but feels strange when she handles it. The small pane of glass is bronze chased, with a multi-hued surface showing nothing in particular. Looking into the glass brings on a feeling of inexplicable nostalgia and a deep yearning for times gone by. No ill effect is suffered from looking away again or setting the item back down.
The suddenly content Esquimaux woman calls one of the 3 posh recliners hers for the night, ignoring her badly injured and unconscious companions while thinking only of her own comfort. Other than some dirty eating utensils, empty containers, and a few half burnt candles, there is nothing else to discover inside this room.

Re: Tracks In The Desert
Akhilleus is busy with the wounded members of the group. He nods at Drest for offering his help.
But he's heard already the former prisoner several time refer to those snakes. "Snakes. Isn't it enough if we close the doors? What sort of snakes? If they eat everyone, how is it that there was so many people, even children, here? The desert is even more dangerous if we live now. No. We stay here. Come with us. We'll protect you."

Cyril whispers to Akhilleus, "If they stay out there then perhaps the snakes will be too well fed to care about us in here..." He then speaks out loud, "Perhaps these snakes can't open doors?"
Cyril helps the injured get comfortable and then takes a seat against the wall.

Valkrina
There is something about the glass (eight inches square not eight feet square?).
She might wrap it in an old rag to safeguard from scratching or breaking and put it in her satchel to study more with later.
We have some meagre rations, so eat, sleep, recover, someone on guard at all times.
Those levitating stones. We should put them to use to. I have heard that such 'moon-stones' are imbued with beneficial powers. Try them on the unconscious in case one promotes healing virtue.

We certainly can try, but they felt off Xenos when he lost conscience. He tries and gets them back if they don't work.

"We could try them on one of us who is at least conscious I suppose. We could try them on either myself or Akhilleus, no idea if they will help. Valkrina, have you heard any stories with stones like this in them?"

Drest will try and lock the door.
Open locks (4:12) [1d12]=8
He tries again. If allowed.

The Ruined Warlords Palace
Posh Digs, Early Evening
Akhilleus finally gets the woman to calm down with all the snake talk, but now instead she hisses loudly at him anytime he gets near her. Neither of the rescued captives seem willing to stay in this place overnight, but neither seem physically able to stop you from forcing them inside the room, if you choose to take them in.
Drest picks away at the lock in the door, unable to understand its working mechanisms. (you can try again…….once you gain another level)
The stones Xenos found are examined by Akhilleus, both of them shockingly rising from his hand to float in the air around his head. He suddenly feels better somehow, as if he were slightly healthier. (+1 Con) The other stone doesn’t reveal its magical nature to him, doing nothing to aid in the healing process. (Valkrina would certainly know of these magical stones, as would most other adventuring types. If you’re paying attention to what is happening around you, they obviously don’t work on someone who is unconscious. Judging by the adventures I have read so far, Ioun Stones are actually somewhat common in the realm of Hyperborea.)
Large chunks of broken pillars can be brought into the room to block the door with. The unconscious are made comfortable, allowing the others time to agree on a watch order.

"We are barricading the door, this lock is beyond me."
After that he sits back to rest.
Watch order proposal:
D and A
V and C
6 hours each
Would this get us enough rest to regain some HP and spells?
