Flight Deck Firefight Round 3

All


Despite their casualties the Paras press on sensing a return from their relentless and ruthless pressure. Or maybe they press on because these are men who refuse to fail.

Kit having revived Able last round (an act of humanity undocumented by the incompetent scrivener! :roll: ) gets in the fight. He targets the remaining grenadier who returns the compliment. Kit's HEAP grenade strikes the Para in the lower torso and cuts him in half. Kit registers that the return grenade at least missed him. Then he comes to. He's leaning over the parapet propped on top of Able who is unconscious (again). Kit notes that there's something wrong with his left arm. He rationalizes that it won't work properly...

Frank raises his gauss rifle and targets the Para hosing Killer. He stitches gauss needles down the man's left side. The penetration through the target's lighter CES hits something vital and the Para pitches forwards off the Flight Deck and onto the elevator platform.

Klaus calmly changes mags and keeps layin' it on. This isn't his first rodeo - noting the lighter armour on the Para's legs he drops his aim as he checks that the fire selector is all the way forward. He scythes DS rounds into his target and watches pink mist erupt behind the Para's upper left thigh. The man drops poleaxed. Klaus feels something "wet" going on following that bang to his right leg - seems like nothing so bad at this stage. [OOC: Light Wound Right Leg -1 on Actions but still in the fight. 'Ooorah! ;) ].

Prerna hefts her long rifle and boosting herself up onto the deck runs east through the Paras jinking left and right around them. It seems they don't notice her in the evening's light mist... [OOC: Which is... um... surprising... at least to any tactically minded observer...].

Jess sees one of the wounded VDV men rise and, drawing something from his webbing, calls what sounds like "Granate!" As he throws she aims low and gives him the good news. Her rounds impact before he completes the throw and his grenade skews wide of the elevator. All of her rounds strike his lightly armoured thighs and in a double fountain of arterial spray he likely bleeds out before his exsanguinated corpse hits the ground. She hears Mike cease fire to admiringly comment "Fekkin' outrageous!" He then adds a dutiful "Ma'am" before he returns to blatting away at a bloke soon to be immolated by Nuts.

Meanwhile Corporal Able groggily rallies his squad "Come on First Squ..." Ink puts another mag into the Para that took out Dog and finally takes him down. Route One swings his bat at the grenadier stood on the parapet and who is targeting Kit. The barbed wire coiled bat makes solid contact just as Kit's RAM grenade puts the encounter beyond debate. Route One will need the steam cleaner... Nuts targets another wounded Para who hoses rounds all about him to no avail. Nuts growls "My turn Canute!" and leaning into the recoil blasts another bolt of plasma that takes the veteran in mid thigh. The bolt removes the limb and sets the now falling corpse on fire.

The Paras doggedly attempt to press their attack. A grenade lofted by a wounded Para dropped by Jess goes wide. Klaus' opponent seems to score a hit on his leg in their ACR duel - just before winning second prize. Another Para blazes at Ink only for his rounds to skitter off her armour. She reciprocates with both automatic fire and some shockingly filthy language. The Para about to be dropped by Frank empties another mag into Killer who, seemingly riddled with DS rounds, finally drops.

Everyone stops shooting and on the most basic assessment the scores are in: an SEMC squad has stopped an elite Avastan VDV squad - dead.

Prerna goes for the lift controls and activates it so that the others can use it. Then, she turns around, selects a firing position, and begins scanning for customers.

On speaker, "Those able to continue form up. Those more seriously wounded, we'll send you back down for treatment. Good work, it's time to hunt more rats."

Voss - Our Org Chart shows all our medic slots unfilled. We are going to need the Archology's Emergency Services.

Or maybe the Zhodani?

Colonel, Should we notify the Archology Management of our predicament? It directly affects their security.

A groan and two quick shots indicate that one of the Paras was briefly not as dead as he could have been but the Troopers of First Squad aren't feeling merciful. Route One and Nuts stack a couple Para bodies on the "hostile" west side of the elevator pad to make a parapet. Silenced AKs and spare mags are piled up

Frank performs a quick triage assessment.

Casualties:
Whiskey is KIA (but could be stashed in a Low Berth - because "dead" really isn't...)
Dog has cumulative injuries (3LW) equating to a Serious Wound and is unconscious
Able is unconscious again and with two light wounds likely needs a full medical assessment before returning to combat
Kit has a Serious Blast Wound to his left arm but is semi conscious

Walking Wounded/Still in the Fight:
Klaus has a Light Wound to his right leg
Ink has a Light Wound

Killer, Johnny, Route One and Nuts are fit to fight as are the QSM's two riflemen (Mike and 'Arry).

Capt Domici and Lt Ellis state they will escort the stretcher bearers (your ambulance crew medics) and render immediate aid to casualties.

Yes and see above - Jakob is Medic 1. The ambulance Emer Low Berths will "freeze" anyone that they can't stabilise.

OOC: There was sufficient hiatus for folk who wanted to kit up to do so. Therefore please assume Klaus is in his combat armour with a full battle load of ammo / grenades.

Kit

Kit is still a bit fuzzy as he realises that Lt Ellis has a lovely smile and a wonderful bedside manner while her better half seems to be an effective medic (well he is another ex Marine!)

He gets the feeling back in his arm and basic if reduced functionality and is informed he's now "walking wounded".

(OOC: Medic Roll [2d6+2]=8+2=10 Degree of success removes the penalising effect but not the damage of Kit's wound.

He'll now count as 2LW and take a DM of -2 on all actions.

NB If he's wounded again the good work of the temporary fix is undone so he'll be on a SW plus whatever new injury afflicts him. Fair to say this wouldn't be ideal... ;) :P ).

Klaus checks his leg to confirm it was only a scratch as he takes cover and gives himself a chance to assess the field and relative positions of friend and foe.

Keeping low he checks his grenades are set with short (3 second) fuses and gets ready for the next wave.

Here she rounds up the ambulance crew and gets them to the small-craft lift.

We have the ambulance by the small-craft lift...If you lower it we can deal with the casualties there.

As Prerna stands sixteen forms rise with her from within the lift shaft and flank her in tactical formation.

Prerna is the green dot (near eastern elavator) numbered purple dots are each groups of four robots.

Ignore any apparent reshuffling of any parked craft - stuff was simply moved for clarity.

As per my last Baker and Beau are atop the green tower (Bartizan Spire) while Gaughan and Caxton are in the ground floor (Bartizan Gatehouse).

Enemy Movement

The group of VDV next to the PCs has been eliminated.

The "splattered" group has been pinned and has casualties.

The two other groups have moved (and the dispersed one has now converged).

Freya is with Freddy, the ambulance below the central lift. Jakob and Liv are taking over the rescue efforts there, but before they do so, she'll get the ambulance to lift her and Freddy to lift level and allow her/freddy to slide into the gap.

Freddy, keep your head down and help slide the injured through the gap to Capt Domici and the ambulance crew

A quick check over the parapet sees the troops out on the open flight deck with no cover. She connects her gauss rifle by fibre and uses its sights to aim at the head of someone who looks like they may be an officer or NCO.

Colonel, can Sgt Gaugin catch that crowd in the open from behind? And can we get any of those APC's manned and firing?

My (possibly incorrect) understanding was that Gaughan was in the gatehouse already having a go at the enemy.

As Freya points out, we spent the money on those APV let's get them up and running, they should even the odds. Voss, if we bring the APV online then keep an eye on our airborne friend, we don't want any interference from them."
