Cassius
Content to have others pick a path in the caves, Cassius busies himself with looking for arrows and keeping an ear out. "Gods, how can you tell east from north down here? There's dampness and moss everywhere. And do you think the walls are getting closer?"
As they reach the bedchambers, he checks for arrows. "There was a light back the other way. Are you all up for some more action?"

Sai begins to check the dead for anything they can use while the others continue on. He finds several broad swords and about 200 gold pieces; these Orcs were paid quite well. Adelphocleas, Dorin and Farkus continue on until they come to a four-way intersection. The centaur stops and listens and then asks Sai, "Which way do you think?"
Kranston arrives with bounce and a jiggle and Montego and Muldgarr are glad to see him. They take the eastern corridor and follow it a few yards until it splits...one passage leads north, the other south.
Actions?
Grabs the gold and several broadswords that look good and follows after the group. After catching up he looks around at the floor for tracks.
The most used path would be the best course. He hands 2 broad swords to each of the soldiers. Hang on to these and sell them when you get back to the fort. A bonus for your families. Since I am in the best shape I'll take the lead.
Drawing his long sword and shield up in front of him.

Kranston is that you? Did you encounter anything? We saw nothing but dead Orcs. Guess we need to keep looking. There may be more of them down here.

“Horse hoofs? Down here? Not likely. That has to be the others!”
Once the group is reunited, the ranger asks where they have searched so far before heading up to check the northern tunnels. (parallel with 17)

He waves to Sai, Adel, and various others as the groups unsplit.
Following Montego, he stalks quietly along the north tunnel.

Kranston finishes humming his tune and thinks inwardly that he may have a hit on his hands. He pushes away the enticing image of performing it live in the tavern for the moment.
Without picking them up, he eyes the ringmail and cloak. Do they seem sized for an orc?
"Lit torches, perhaps for the benefit of someone, a non-orc person? who cannot see in the dark..." he says.

Cassius
"Krayquer. We know that name, right?" Cassius looks to the others as his head has gone battle-hazed.
He looks to the others and points out the equipment. "Nobody leaves nice things behind unless in a hurry. They may be close." Cassius moves to move the sword but stops short. "A trap? Can anyone check this area out before we touch anything?"
"Even Orcs need light to read maps. But I agree, this is for someone important."

Montego looks around at the table for a moment. "We do, Cass. The scar-faced saboteur we already had suspicions about."
"This stuff should all be gathered up and brought back with us."
Out of habit, the ranger checks the floor for tracks to see if there was much traffic between this room and the next.
He moves to the passage west of 12 and looks around there as well, listening intently for any sounds coming from deeper within the complex.

Below the Chimney...One More Room
Kranston hums a tune which he thinks is sure to be a hit, and eyes the ringmail and the cloak, deducing they appear to be sized for a small human...but there appears to be room for expansion in the way the mail is designed.
Cautiously, Cassius calls for the skills of a trapfinder before they touch anything in the chamber. None readily step forward.
Montego checks for tracks, more out of habit than anything, and doesn't find much in the chamber itself. But...while looking at the western exit, he finds a few pairs of tracks leading out of the chamber and also returning. Listening carefully, he steps into the dark hallway, holding his lantern high and ahead of his steps. He sees a lone door set in the wall of stone ahead. The door is made of wood and is closed...but there appears to be light shining from underneath.
And...was that a shadow that passed behind the closed door?
Actions?

Re: The Secret Base of Iuz
Montego sticks his arm behind him and snaps his fingers twice, hoping to get the attention of those still in the planning room.
He points to the door with the light underneath, and quietly draws his sword.
He looks around to see what the others are doing, giving them time to prepare. Once the fighters have assembled and everyone is ready to confront the unknown figure, he puts his massive boot into the side of the door where any lock might be, trying to kick it open dramatically to see what lies beyond.
I will post a STR roll but please let me know if you need something else: Strength Check (18) [1d20]=17

His head swivels when Montego snaps, nodding at the intention. He readies himself, moves to the door, and prepares to pounce once it is opened.

Dorin takes his eyes away from the gold on the table and the chest, and eases up behind the ranger; Farkus is beside him, weapons ready. Adelphocleas keeps back in the chamber, guarding against an attack from behind.

Muldgarr grabs the sword and slides it from its battered sheath. As he’s inspecting it, he hears a snap and spins around to see the others heading toward Montego. He joins the ranger and others with this new weapon in hand . Is the sword black as night?

Re: The Secret Base of Iuz
Below the Chimney...One More Room, One More Battle!
With a snap of his fingers, Montego gets the attention of his companions and beckons them toward the door at the end of the tunnel. Cassius moves up to stand opposite him, and gets ready to pounce one the door is opened.
Dorin takes his eyes away from the gold on the table and the chest, and eases up behind the ranger; Farkus is beside him, weapons ready.
Muldgarr grabs the sword leaning against the chest and slides it from its battered scabbard. The blade glimmers in the torchlight, revealing bluish-blackened steel, and the pommel is cold to the touch. Muldgarr is marveling at the blade when Montego gets his attention, and he moves forward to join the others with his new sword in hand.
Sai, depleted of most of his spells, stays near the back along with Kranston who is still turning the tune of a song over and over in his head. Adelphocleas keeps back in the chamber, guarding against an attack from behind.
When everyone is in place, Montego steps forward and with his boot to the door, he stomps the wood near the latch, where it may be locked. There is a solid "thud" and Montego feels the resistance run all the up his leg to his ass! The door shudders and opens, slowly swinging inward.
"Took ye damn long enough!" comes a harsh voice from inside the room. "My armor better be spotless, and my sword..."
The voice stops speaking, likely realizing whoever is opening the door is not a friend or companion. The voice mutters something, and the door is yanked open...and you recoil at what you see:
The creature gives off a stench that nearly gags you as it gnaws on the arm of something or someone. Another similar creature stands up and growls with hunger as it licks blood from its long talons. And stepping into the torchlight is the source of "the voice" - a rugged, massive Orc which chuckles, and says, "Well, well. So it's come to this. My master will be pleased."
And then the Orc begins the incantations of a spell...as the creatures lunge to attack!
ACTIONS!!
I need an initiative roll and an action(s) roll from everyone! Are you charging into the room, are you waiting for the creatures to come to you...what exactly are you doing?
Oh, and Hotgoblin > when the door is opened, Muldgarr's new sword swirls with bluish-black flames!

Re: The Secret Base of Iuz
With the element of surprise now gone, Montego does not wait for the monsters to come to him.
"YOUR MASTER WILL BE DEAD!!!! AND SO WILL YOU!!!"
The huge ranger tries to shoulder his way through the pair of sloppy eaters, charging at full speed to make his way to the smarmy orc casting his spell.
Strength Check (18) [1d20]=2 (If that isn't possible, he stabs at one of the undead instead. Is there a +2 bonus to hit on a charge in 2E?)
Attack w/ 2 Handed Sword [1d20+3]=10+3=13 Damage [1d10+5]=10+5=15
Edit: Initiative [1d10]=10 dang it!

Quick draws two daggers in rapid fire from his leg.

Kranston, snapping out of composing mode, springs up and rushes forwards. Fearing hitting one of his friends with his sling, he instead runs up to engage one of the slavering undead, brandishing his staff:
