So they don't fight everything, and then just starve."

Taisho observes Ito putting the o-bakemone's silver wrist band into his bag with hardly any attention. He'll watch when he takes it out again, step in and advise or intervene.

Taisho estimates that the bracelet's weight in silver is around 20 silver coins. So it might sell for around 15 silver to an ordinary merchant. But it's a rare artifact taking from an o-bakemono, and possibly made by o-bakemono. It could sell for much more to a wealthy collector, if one could be found. And because of its supernatural nature, a shugenja might be very interested in owning it.

Ito makes it clear that he has not strong attachment to the bracelet. Maybe get us along should we need some coin?

Katsumi bows in response to the priest's request. Hai, Kamunushi-san. They were scouts spying on us for bandits working out of a nearby village. It was their intent to rob us and perhaps murder us if they found us weak. This they told me." He bows again, unruffled- it is after all the truth, more or less. Then he turns and leads the old priest toward the bodies.

As they make their way toward the bodies, Katsumi asks, "What will you do with the bodies, Kamunushi-san?"

Viewing the bodies, the kamunushi says, Shiro and Yasaku, farmers from the Neno village. It's regrettable. The men and boys of the village set out looking for them before dawn. You must come with me to report this to the samurai lord. Your visit to the shrine will have to be delayed. He thinks a bit. No, let's go to the shrine first, so your bodies and minds can be cleanses before facing the samurai. He remembers Katsumi's question. The families will retrieve the bodies and I suppose the Buddhist priest will give them funerals. Come, follow me to the shrine.

Everyone, please post your actions. Please state whether the bushi PCs are wearing armor today. (An NPC reaction penalty will apply for wearing armor higher than AC3).

Did we all traipse off to see the bodies?

Kentaro has sworn to be the Priest's protector for the remainder of their journey, so he mounts his horse and remains armored accordingly, unless the priest gives indication otherwise.

(Edit to add: Kentaro definitely stayed with Katsumi and the Priest to see the bodies.)

Each player can decide whether their character went to view the bodies or not. If any PCs didn't go to look, then when the priest returns to the campsite he'll also invite them to accompany him to the shrine.

Taisho certainly wouldn't go look at bodies... That's what Buddhist Gakusho are for :-)

Ito: Bodies? None that I care to see.... Ito is visibly a bit frustrated.

Back at the campsite, the aged priest indicates Ito and says rather formally to Taisho, Unless I have made a mistake, this person has an injury, and you can provide healing. If that is possible to do, I think it would be good to do it. If you choose not to, I will do it, with the bushi-san's consent.
Well, the Sun is ascending, people and the kami-sama are waiting. I mustn't be slow. I must visit the samurai, or take you to the shrine before doing that.

He looks around at each person in turn. His eyes express that he has placed his confidence and trust in your honesty and good nature. Because if you are brigands, it might be the last early morning for him and the miko-san.

Actions, everyone?

Katsumi glances briefly at his companions before addressing the priest. "I would very much like to visit the shrine and pay my respects to the kami-sama, Kamunushi-san."

Kentaro clears his throat and straightens his heavy armor.

"I swear to protect you and ensure you reach the shrine safely, Kamunushi-san," he says with an excessive bow, his mountain accent coming through more than he would like.

Taisho will do healing magic on Ito after applying bandages with healing salve (which heals 2 points). How much damage did Ito take? Basic Healing is BCS 10 less 1/10 the damage remaining to be healed for 1d6 healing.

Ito took 8 HP Subdual damage, no Lethal damage. So the penalty doesn't apply, BCS should be Taisho's raw Magic Capability.

Also:
Subdual Damage is healed much more quickly than is Lethal Damage.. If the character rests completely, he regains his base Healing Rate for every 10 minutes he rests. If he is active (moving, fighting, etc.) he regains the base Healing Rate every hour.

Assuming that Ito consented to the Basic Healing, he regained 7 HP (2 for bandages + 5). Thanks, I hadn't seen that about the Subdual healing rate.

We need Ito's and Omi's actions. Kentaro, Katsumi and earlier Taisho said they were going to the shrine.

And I think that cost me one power? I need to grok a bit more of the magic rules...

I need to decrypt the magic rules too. The ones for gakusho are especially hard to make sense of.
