Got it.
Bonnie
When Luther catches up to the three in the woods, only a few yards in at this point, Bonnie nods and listens. "I understand that emotional responses can be very compelling, believe me. I almost don't trust me either after that." She smiles sadly and continues hacking away.
Trying to show that there are no hard feelings, she starts to show the rangers a few elven tricks of the woods.

Grimm stays with his mouth shot. His position made clear from the very beginning of this trip, and Bonnie's arguments not having an effect. The dwarf watches the three going south for a few seconds, before turning around and start following Wes and Avaala. "Wes! Avaala! I'm coming with you."
I disappear for a day and a half, and look what happens!

Chauncey looks more perplexed than anything at his friends' refusal to trust his word.
"I saw her true thoughts. There is no more questioning of what is real. Your version of events is false, a misunderstanding. Why you insist on clinging to it, I do not understand," he says.
He looks for a moment as if he is about to add something more, then turns southward and follows the party heading for the obelisk. "Come, Mr. Wrenly!" he says.

If Bonnie's speaking with the phanaton is agreeable as the next step in the process for the members who are about to leave the group......
There is always a possibility of finding more of them along the way.
However, if a splitting of the party is imminent regardless, then so be it.
This whole affair seems like a simple case of poor timing to me, but I dont have an established character at risk, so......

Luther
As long as we both know our positions, that's almost as if we can trust each other.
Luther stays open to any Elven woods craft that Bonnie wants to teach. He'll let Cealwyn take point for a while.

I'm fine with that. I don't particularly want to split the party. Or put Monsieur Rose in an inescapable, neverending, non-fun situation.
Asking the phanaton for a day to decide what to do has accidentally created an artificial deadline. Bonnie has said she would talk to them, so if there's a way to "keep that on the menu" and deal with it eventually I think that would work. (Otherwise it seems a bit silly that Wes would know there's a serious problem brewing and just decide to ignore it so that he can deal with potentially even worse consequences later.

Avaala the Grey
Avaala asks Wes and Grimm, "What if we followed them? Not terribly far behind, and close enough to render aid, of course. But far enough to let the Phanaton know we understood their concerns and have separated ourselves from her. But, I'm saying right up front, I will not support her against the Phanaton. I won't hurt one of them on her behalf."
After a moment, he adds, "And, if something else attacks them, we might be some very surprising reinforcements."

"I can live with that," replies Wes. "Having dragged them all out of the temple, I'd hate to see them all get killed now."
"Nor will I harm them either." He pauses, staring into the bushes where Bonnie disappeared. "She did say she'd talk to them. Hopefully we'll get a chance to make that happen instead."

Grimm
"It's fine by me. Besides, I don't have anything against the others and I don't want them to think so.
But I'm starting to have my doubts. This woman has a way to talk herself out of any situation, but I didn't know about any Krystals. Did Bonnie really attack the Phanaton? Or was it one of her doubles? Maybe she's being accused of things she didn't even do.
That said, she allied herself with the pirates and that... eh... Brendan? They fellow you killed at the temple! She could've joined the townies or any of the other adventurers, like you.
Anyway, I won't help her against the Phanaton either. Won't hurt any single one of them. No."

He moves warily forward, alert for signs of the dangers that abound here. He'll turn to Luther at some point and offer a nod. "I'm not too proud to admit that you know your way and the conditions here better than I, mate. If it's better for you to lead on, I can take a rear-guard.
In either case, he'll maintain a steady pace, not so fast that they miss clues or stumble blindly into an ambush, but not dawdling, either.

The Search Becomes Dramatic
Sunday, 21st of Goodmonth
Late Afternoon, Hot, Humid, Buggy
Thinking about the long trudge back to civilization with less than half a crew spurs the concerned members of the group to reach a compromise. Unwilling to abandon the group completely, Wes, Grimm, and Avaala agree to stick it out with their friends until a meeting with the phanaton can be arranged.
As the two parties chop their way through the insanely thick underbrush in a southerly direction, Bonnie shares her knowledge of the different things she has learned out here in the jungle so far. Wes does the same for his group, the two of them having spent the most time roaming the area. After a while, the druid starts to recognize a few trees and other landmarks from the last time he explored this part of the jungle. It is no less forgiving this trip, but he is happy that he doesn’t need to endure it alone this time.
Neither group notices any signs of the tree dwelling Phanaton along their journey, further solidifying Wes’s belief that they simply don’t enter this portion of the jungle. Though the members with such skills do feel like they are being watched at times, no evidence of this presents itself to them. Wes starts to recognize more and more of his tight surroundings. But if he had been here before, how is it possible that he missed a clearing with this alleged huge obelisk?
After about 2 more uninterrupted hours of this arduous slog, Chauncey is certain that they are nearing the area of their prize. He urges the others on through the oppressive conditions, he and his monkey sweating profusely at this point. Eventually, the clear sound of chanting can be heard over the normal din of the jungle. Moving slowly in that direction, it becomes clear that the gurgled voices behind the guttural chanting are very likely not human, as the language is incomprehensible to anyone in either group.
Whatever it is, it is not far away, and it’s intensity seems to be elevating.

To Cealwyn; Don't worry about it, friend. If I see a problem you don't, or you get tired, I'll take over.
When they hear the chanting, Luther calls a halt. Cealwyn, you and I- low and slow. Let's see what we're facing.
Using his woodsman's skills, Luther crawls toward the sounds, doing everything he can to stay quiet. Even though he doesn't understand the language, does it sound like one he's heard before?
Not sure what the die rolls would be...

The ranger nods and follows Luther's lead, crouching low and snaking as quietly as possible through the brush toward their quarry. If he reaches a point where it's simply too thick or brushy to maintain the appropriate level of stealth, he will stop, backtrack, and try to discern a quieter path forward, hoping that the sound of chanting will drown out his progress.
He also perks his ears at the voices in an attempt to recall if he's heard anything remotely resembling this language before.

Chauncey pulls Luther and Bonnie aside. "Sir, Madame. Do either of you feel you could safely suss out the origin of this chanting without being detected? As you have surely witnessed in the past, I myself am quite adept at camouflage and stealthy movement. I am quite spry. If you wish, I can lead said excursion," he says.

Meanwhile, not to far away...
Wes
Wes turns to Grimm and Avaala. "I've seen strange ogres out here before. Have you seen them? Do you think it could be them?"
He also tries to make out how "not human" the voices are. Since he can speak the language of the reptile-like troglodytes, he compares this chanting to that. Can these chants even be made by humanoid throats, or something more alien?

Bonnie
She looks confused when Luther calls for only the rangers to go forward, but merely shrugs and moves towards Chauncey.
“They’ve got this. I mean, they’re no Elves, but what are you going to do?”
She motions for Chauncey to keep quiet and winks at Mr. Wrenly.

The Obelisk
Sunday, 21st of Goodmonth
Late Afternoon, Hot, Humid, Buggy
Luther, Cealwyn, and Paul sneak ahead without Bonnie or Chauncey, hoping they can get a view of the chanters without being seen. They try to discern what might be making the noises, but none of them can be certain. Wes stops to give the noise a listen too, finding the language similar but not identical to the dreaded fishman tongue he vaguely understands.
Not far from the main group, the rangers slip through a thicket to find a large, circular clearing up ahead in the jungle. They see a few small grass huts with a dirt trail connecting them. Beyond the huts is a large circular stone platform in the center of the clearing that rises up from the jungle floor in three diminishing tiers. In the center of the top of the highest tier, stands an amazing sight. A tall, clear obelisk, jutting out of the stone riser, maybe 5 feet wide, but at least 50 feet tall, and maybe even higher. There is a gathering of creatures surrounding the obelisk platform who appear to be some kind of lizard type beings, and the strange chanting is most certainly coming from them. There is probably a dozen or more of these odd looking creatures, but all of them seem to be in some sort of trance-like state, chanting, bowing, and waving their scaly arms towards the transparent monolith. There are figures and structures deeper into the clearing as well, but they are difficult to make out from this distance.
Standing a bit closer, currently with their backs to them, are 2 more of these stationary bipedal lizard figures who appear to be watching the spectacle with great interest. They show no sign of being spotted by the concealed onlookers.

Luther
Luther taps his companions on the shoulder, then moves back to where the others are.
How tall are these lizard people?
He makes a concious effort to keep his voice down as he reports what they've seen. Anyone know anything about these lizard-people? It'd be best if we could make peace with 'em- like the Phanaton, but they may not be as reasonable as the treefolk. I don't want to fight 'em- the clearing looks like they live there, and people defending their home are the most dangerous.
But the good news is, we found the first obelisk.
Luther uses the tip of an arrow to draw out the clearing in the dirt.
