Gardo

"A thought. Are we worried that someone may try to help our prisoners escape?"

Seeing that the group will have to wait on the morrow to conclude business, Gardo heads back to the gate. On arrival, he will inquire of the guards if a woman matching Tinihildi's appearance came through. If so, he will spend time looking about for her in a few taverns. Otherwise, he and Mariusz will relax.
It's hard to explain puns to kleptomaniacs because they always take things literally.

Telemachus retires to a quiet inn and spends some time examining the sorceress' spellbook.

Aldus checks in with the others. "We'll spend the night in town, and meet with the Baron's man in the morning, right? Is the plan to head back over the bridge after that?"

Aldus gives Wulfka the rest of the day off, expressing how pleased he is with her performance of her duties. He then heads out to find whatever passes for a seat of learning in Junction. He is hoping to learn some regional history as it might pertain to aqueducts.

Newton agreed with this plan too.

That evening he will meet with the lieutenants of the mercenaries he is hiring at the Inn, introducing himself over a drink:

"I'm Newton Longville, a wilderness man by trade. I have little experience in commanding military units, but I see the need for them to help clear the land across the river. But I do understand trust, you need to trust the men you are with, as you put your lives in their hands. That is why I'm telling you this. I will do my best by you and your troops, but you must tell me if I'm making a mistake. I don't want to be responsible for the injury or death of your men though my ignorance or arrogance. If there are problems in your units I'd like to know too, there maybe something I can do to help."
ooc: before he retires, Newton will cast Cure Light Wounds on himself

No one with Tinehildi's appearance has crossed the bridge, and no one in any of the taverns can recall seeing someone fitting that description.

It's a slim book, the kind carried by some mages when they are traveling, containing only those spell the magician judges to be most useful. It contains the following spells, written in the Common tongue of Man: Detect Magic, Message, Sleep, Spider Climb, Amnesia, Mirror Image, Ray of Enfeeblement, Fireball. Three of the spells -- Detect Magic, Spider Climb, and Ray of Enfeeblement -- are not complete, the pages upon which they are written burnt beyond legibility.
The book failed its save v the fireball, but just barely, so I assigned a chance that a certain number of pages would be burnt and ruined. Three spells are not legible and cannot be studied.

There's really no seat of learning. Madam Fleur suggests that he may be able to find a sage that is knowledgeable of history. "I can look for one," she says, "and should have an answer for you in a couple of days, if that is okay with you."

Mercenaries

The mercenaries assure Newton that they will be loud and vocal when he does something stupid. "We won't let you forget it, neither", they chortle.

Thirdmonth, Eighthday
Junction

The adventurers rise in the morning. It's a cloudy day, but Newton doesn't reckon it will rain.

Aldus thanks Madam Fleur and asks her to go ahead and look for such a sage.

The next morning he spends a little extra time on his habiliment, making sure that he looks trim and presentable for being in Town, as opposed to the looser practicality of dress he adopts in the wilderness.

Seneschal Beorthmac

The adventurers arrive early at the Seneschal's office, eager to speak to him and then head back into the wilderness. Beorthmac arrives and seems somewhat taken aback by the companions loitering outside his door. He still has a dab of egg on his face, presumably from breakfast. "Oh yes," he said, "I should have known I might be seeing you today. My batman mentioned something to me this morning over breakfast about you; something to do with captured bandits?"

"Yes, in the process of sweeping the hex of threats, we stumbled across a group of bandits looking to ambush some boats carrying gold ore. We killed half and captured the rest. The Sheriff told us to talk to you about a reward."

"Bandits...what's this world coming to if a group of bandits can just camp out across the river from a fine city like this...That kind of situation has to be put to a stop for this place to reach the heights for which it is destined", then realizing that he only really has scarce details on the previous days' work, Feargus closes his mouth and stands in the back of the room.

Seneschal Beorthmac

"Hmmm. Yes, well, the Barony does offer a bounty on bandits. There are some brigands that are so notorious and so dastardly that they, and their lackeys, have bounties on their heads. Sanke One-eye, Bad Timos of the so-called Free Folk, Icen Viahere, and so forth. These are all wanted men and women with generous rewards on their heads. From what I have heard these bandits you captured yesterday are relative nobodies and have never struck against these lands. We typically would not offer a reward for such actions, especially since they hadn't actually committed a crime when you captured them."

He purses his lips. "But I tell you what. We will interogate them, and if they prove to be bandits we will compensate you based on their importance."

Telemachus

"Yes, that would be fine. They told us they worked for a bandit lord named Gajo who had 200 men under his command. And they did attempt to kill us as soon as they saw us.

We're going to continue sweeping the area across the river. Once we're finished, we'll return and see how your questioning turned out. Does that give you enough time to determine a bounty?"

"Never heard of this Gajo fellow. Maybe he preys on villages around Rocky Peak and such. If you're interested in hunting bandits around the mines, though, there's a bounty of 5,000 gold alcedes the Baron has placed on the head of Icen Viahere, the Scourge of the North, and bounties of one thousand alcedes each for his four lieutenants, that call themselves the Grey Riders."
