The Irish gangsters look at each other perplexed, then laugh.
"What the fuck is he talkin about?"
"We ain't Danny, copper."
They each draw a pistol and four gun barrels stare down Baines.
One gets up from his chair and approaches. He searches Baines and takes his gun and identification. "You want to see Danny, maybe we can arrange it," he says as he looks at the ID.

Gwen Baines - BOI
"I would very much like that, what I have to say could very well save his life, lead the way", he smiles, almost mischievously.

Back at the Providence BOI office,
Isaiah Bartlett further explores the files on the investigation (
via PM.)
The Irish gangsters, with guns drawn, escort BOI Agent
Gwen Baines to a car. They put a blind-fold over his eyes. A short ten-minute ride later they stop, exit, go into a building, up some stairs and into a room. The blind-fold is taken off. Baines sees the infamous Danny Walsh behind a desk.
"So this is the guy," he says aloud.
"Tell me why I shouldn't kill you?"
Elsewhere,
Reginald Wilkins and
Dr. Matthers talk with Mr. Randolph. (
Via PM)

Gwen Baines - BOI
Baines rubs his eyes, "Oh, it's a pleasure to meet an important man such as yourself Mr.Walsh, why you shouldn't kill me? Quite simply that won't help any of us now would it? I would be dead and the BOI would be so far up your business you would be lucky if you can escape this city without being caught. You see, the BOI is in a bit of a.....struggle shall we say, they are desperate to regain control and fear, they are howling for blood and they don't give a damn who gets caught in the fire, and who can blame them? One of their own agents was brutally murdered, cut from limb to limb, my own partner too! That's why I came on this suicide mission. If you kill me or rough me up or even simply let me go without their demands, the wrath of the BOI will fall on you, they know I came to talk to you, and I don't like anger being misplaced, so Mr.Walsh, are you ready to hear me out? What I ask is but a small thing, and we would be helping you rid yourself of your newest ,and from what I hear, annoying competitor"

As Danny listens to
Baines one of the boys goes up to Danny and whispers something in his ear.
"Okay copper, I'll hear you out."
Reginald Wilkins and
Dr. Herald Matthers return to the Charters Book Shop after talking with Mr. Randolph. Dr. Matthers places a phone call to Miskatonic Univeristy's Archeology Department.

Walking into the room quietly is another irish gangster, Short brown hair, greyish blue cloudy eyes, average but muscular build and sporting several bandages from looks like literal days of harsh treatment. He nods to Danny and looks to the seated copper, content with being another thug unless Danny needed to talk to him that second.
He leans over to another nearby thug and speaks in a low tone,

Gwen Baines - BOI
Baines takes note of the extra gangster that entered but returns his focus to Danny quickly, "
I am glad you agree, you see, one of your boys have been running a muck in my investigation, I had a very important lead and he fired a couple of shots which made the 'lead' fled, then he kidnapped the next best thing. He also attempted stealing my badge and notes, now I can leave all that's in the past there but the Jamaican man you kidnapped is essential to our investigation, in addition to whatever belongings he had with him. You give me that and I will be on my way"

Irish crime boss Danny Walsh listens to BOI Agent Gwen Baines.
"That sounds like all the more reason to kill you," says Danny.
"Why do you think we have the Jamaican. What is he to you?"
Reginald Wilkins returns to the study of the
Pnakotic Manuscripts, and Dr. Matthers to
The Testament of Selene. Each comes upon a section of alleged spells. Would they work?
From the
Pnakotic Manuscripts...
- Create Gate
- Find Gate
- Shining Trapezohedron
- Contact Elder Thing
- Instructions for inscribing an Elder Sign
From
The Testament of Selene...
- Contact Servant of Selene, by which an unidentified "servant" of the goddess may be contacted.
- Summon Servant of Selene, by which an unidentified "servant" of the goddess may be summoned.
- Ingredients for the Dream Mists of the Oracles of Selene (Brew Dream Drug)
- Journey to the Other Side
- Create Scyring Window

Harold Matthers
As he reads through the
Testament of Selene, part of his minds thinks about the things he has learned today and what he is reading. He shudders. What he and Reg saw with Randolph today lends credence to what they read in their books.
Sanity roll on [1d4] = 1
He keeps scribbling notes.
[Edit: Whoops! Just remembered to change the char sheet to the new SAN score. 58]

Gwen Baines - BOI
"Mr.Walsh, killing me will only elevate the situation, two BOI agents dead within two days? That will send the BOI so far up your trail that I would be the lucky one being dead! As of how I knew, intel placed", Baines checked his notes, "Darrin McCoy who was an affiliate of yours in the scene of the crime where a few shots have been fired leading the important lead to escape and then he was seen kidnapping the Jamaican who is now all I have to solve this tiresome case, and what I have is all that the BOI has, so if I go out of here empty handed, dead or battered to an inch of my life, the BOI will probably finish me off themselves before coming after you. Please Mr.Walsh, you have everything to gain from this and nothing to lose but a Jamaican man who is probably a burden on you by now"

Reginald Wilkins, bookdealer
Like his friend Dr. Matthers, Reginald reflects on what he has read and what he has learned today. He fears that he might be losing his grip a little.
OOC: I posted the link in the Speakeasy thread, but Reg lost 2 Sanity points. Current Sanity score is down to 24! Character sheet updated.

BOI Agent Baines finishes his speech to Danny. The Irishman who walked in late speaks.
"Why are you investigating Carcosa?"

Baines turns to face the man, "Like I said he has ties to the case that I have been working on with my now dead partner, now this case is super sensitive and I am sure that you don't care about BOI affairs right? Unless of course you are tied to this case as well without my knowledge?"

That afteroon at Charters Book Shop,
Reginald Wilkins and
Harold Matthers come upon further revelations in the
Pnakotic Manuscripts and
Testament of Selene. Old man Isaiah Bartlett returns to the bookstore. They share information (
via PM.)
BOI Agent
Baines faces Irish mob leader Danny Walsh. The latecomer to the meeting stares long and hard at Baines, as if he's going to say something.
Danny leans forward on his desk and looks intensely at Baines.
"You don't last long in my business if you can't read a man. I can see your soul at the edges of your eyes. It's corrosive, like acid. There's a shadow on you son. And I don't like your face, it makes me want to do things to it."
If we find this Jamaican, I'll let you know."

After the PM whisperings:
After discussing some disturbing matters, Isaiah finds that there are, well, other disturbing matters: magic, spells, rituals, all laid out in a big pile on the tables. He looks concerned.
"Is this all necessary? Are you, people of sciences and proper humanities, really looking for help in the dark void of sorcery?!"
His hands start trembling.

Darrin keeps a hand in his pocket, gripping his blade tightly as his boss and the BOI agent square off. He nods to the other thugs in the room to wait on his or Danny's command. Darrin's eyes dart to Danny, a silent question hanging in the air.
If the silence hangs for too long Darrin will speak up, "Boss, want me to bring him to the last place we saw the Jamaican?"

"I know such things are not your preferred method, Mr. Bartlett, but surely we must use every resource at our disposal," says Reginald.
"If it will ease your mind, consult your Book. I think you will find that, at times, one must turn plowshears to swords, that the weak be made strong. Joel 3:10."
