[Closed] Briarbeard Tavern (Vaul) - II

An expedition led by the elf Rhodri departed first thing in the morning to make an attempt to penetrate the suspected goblin stronghold known as the Finger of Doom and secure some of the riches rumored to be lying unclaimed there. Should any of this be true, the small band will need luck or the will of the gods behind them to bring their bold mission to a successful end.

Wish them good fortune, that they may return!

[Dogma]

Martin Whyte stands at the door of the Inn, giving the place a good lookingover before moving up to the bar, He drops a handful of silver onto the bar top.

"I'll need a room for several nights. Somethng clean. And a bottle of something....doesnt matter what as long as it's good." The young cleric looks about the room. "I hear there may be some work in these parts. Know of anyone looking to set out any time soon?"

[AleBelly]

After one more ale "with the boys" Wendall slaps his dented in forehead.

Oh my hic gosh! I totally forgot hic something!

Wendall exits the tavern stumbling and heads back to his room. He returns a short while later, sweating and a little out of breath.

His shiny new coat of chain mail is now proudly displayed, oddly enough, on the outside of his grungy, smelly robes. It seems that the awkward boy has never donned or even seen a set of armor before. This might seem hard to believe but, he actually looks more ridiculous than he did before.

Well hic? How do I hic look? He gives Harold a smile and a wink.

"You look like you need a bath" laughs Varas.

To Valorei, he responds "I'm happy to head out east with you. But Dorvar and I get first dibs on treasure. Let's leave the day after Harrowing."

[Zhym]

"East?" asks Harold. "Didn't the Duke give Mr. M. a paper to sign that promised we wouldn't go east?"

[AleBelly]

"That treaty didn't cover us. Mr. M. said we could pass through his lands" says Varas authoritatively.

[Mister-Kent]

"First dibs?" Olympia bellows, stomping up from the nearest table, where she's just finished a fresh round of arm-wrestling matches. "You're not forgetting little old me, are you?" She flexes and takes a swig of the nearest ale (whoever it belongs to).

[AleBelly]

"Oh, I didn't see you there" says Varas sheepishly. "Let me but you another as a penance, my lady" he smiles.

[Mister-Kent]

Olympia smiles and mimes a dainty curtsy. She is quite easily appeased where friends are concerned.

"Pardon me for intruding, " Martin saya as he walks over to the others, " but I couldn't help overhearing your conversation. Would you by chance have room for one more? I can pull my own weight and have a couple other skills that may come in handy."

In fact, I may go out on a little excursion into the wild very soon. If the others want to wait until after the festival to go out again, perhaps you can join me?

"Wise decision, Martin. I'm Varas. I see you've met my friend Wendall. Ol' Wendie's very useful, and has saved our asses a few times out there. But he does take some foolhardy risks" warns Varas, pointing to the dent in Wendall's head. "A larger group of us are discussing looking for some hidden elf city after Harrowing. Sounds as good idea as any to me."

Thats very good thinking sir! I'm sure a few others here might want to go out for a couple of days. If they aren't all satisfied with drinking from now until the end of the festival.

W only needs 156 XPs to level and was thinking about exploring to the west for two or three days before the fest. Anyone?

So, Val.....what did the Duke have to say about your little theory?

Val gives Wendall a confused look, "My theory? On the sword? We never spoke of it, was there another theory?" He takes another drink from his cup, "We did speak of the possible benefits as well as negatives of finding another society, and that he has tasked me with finding out them as well as any other interesting pieces of history and knowledge this land has. The duke certainly seems to have the right view about this land! There is so much to learn!"

Valorei gives Varas a wide smile, "That is excellent! And of course, you and Dorvar, as well as Olympia, get first dibs on any items we may come across."
