Gelli

Recovery
Arrow Recovery on a 4 [_4d4]=(4+1+4+1)=10

Gelli picks up to arrows he lost from the guards supply (back to full). He also picks up the unmatched key as something that could be important. (on sheet)

"I recommend that dispatch the guards and the group the two manacles and keys and 29 GP and anything else someone wants."

Niphos

While Niphos finishes binding the guards, Javess goes through their belongings. He gathers up all the food and puts it in his pack. He takes the length of rope, the torches and the grappling hook and packs them in Niphos' pack.

If I have that right that should put Javess and Niphos each at 10 packed encumbrance.

Edit: I can also put the 29 gold and the key in a pouch and mark them as party treasure on my sheet if people want.

Ok with Niphos keeping track of coins. Or splitting them now. Whatever the party wants to do.

In response to Athena and Thargus, Stonechewer provides the following: “I am Codswalop Stoneschewer, an imperial goblin in the service of Lord Burdock in his mines in Deepton. Five nights ago, my crew and I were kidnapped. A group of armed men in red armor came upon us as we were traveling to our campsite after a day’s work in the mines. They told us the Guild of Service requested our skills and that we were to come quietly or die. None of us wanted to test their threat. For the last four nights we have travelled to this point. The two goblins who are unconscious are Alban Rocksmasher and Samson Lamplighter. The dead one is Cuthbert Tunnelrunner; he never had any good luck nor did have any family. Is there some way you can free us from our bonds. We are grateful for you taking out our kidnappers. I have heard rumors that the Guild of Service is a secret slaving organization and you have surely saved us from enslavement.”

Thargus

I need some OOC info before proceeding, sorry if I have missed it elsewhere :P
I know we have an Imperial Goblin in the group.
What is the general disposition regarding goblins? same as would be toward humans, elves, half-elves, halflings or dwarves?
Also does Thargus know anything about the Guild of Service?

Here is what is generally known about Imperial Goblins by citizens of Achontos

The humans of Archontos enslaved the goblins of Mithruin in antiquity and put them to work as miners and as laborers on the vast imperial latifundia of Mithruin. Millennia of servitude – but also of exposure to the ‘civilizing’ forces of the Archontean empire - have created a distinct racial subgroup. Even if they resemble ‘wild goblins’ (monsters) physically, these ‘imperial goblins’ are culturally distinct from their monstrous kin and thus look at wild goblins with disdain.

Imperial goblins are short, long-armed, and bandy legged, with yellowish skin and, frequently, yellow eyes. They possess black hair and are comfortable wearing minimal clothing, but possess their own standards for fine dress (these include tall conical caps, colorful vests, and jodhpurs tucked into beautiful leather boots). They reach a maximum of 4’ 8” in height. Goblins are known for their wiry strength and tough constitutions.

Many imperial goblins have been freed from slavery over the years, leading to a large number of imperial freedgoblin citizens. Although these freedgoblins are noted as highly effective merchants, estate managers, and bureaucrats, they are typically treated as second-class citizens by ordinary Archonteans and are the object of casual racism on the part of the Archonteans.

Thargus and others may have heard rumors in Gosterwick regarding the Guild of Service as a slaving operation of the proscribed Cult of Set but it is not a formal institute of the Empire

'Fez' PheasantPlucker

"Cousins! Don't mind my comrades here. They are a bit obtuse maybe but kindly folk that would see no one enslaved."

It seems an awful lot of trouble to get workers kidnapping folk several days and scores of miles away.
There are the following items found among their backpacks: a key, two sets of manacles and keys
'Fez' would be against slaying the sleeping guards. Why not instead shackle them, bound up but alive. Do we take them prisoner?

He turns to Codswallop.

"Listen, if you help us up the cliff, you can stay with us; the 'bold and the brave' and then choose to make your way back to Lord Burdock or take Fate's opportunity to gain fame and fortune with us?"

He chats to his kinsfolk, not quite ready yet to dish out any of the spare weapons, just in case goblin sneakiness betrays us. But they can carry the packs of rations and supplies, willingly I hope.

Niphos

Niphos listens to the conversation. Friends, I very much fear we need to make a decision quickly. We either need to take action against the rest of the camp or make ourselves scarce before we are noticed. These scoundrels seem to be well outside the law, but attacking a defended camp is different from ambushing a patrol.

Having said his piece, Niphos will begin examining one of the wooden carvings found on the bound guards.

Thargus

Thargus glances over the goblins and nods, his gaze sharp and calculating. "Codswalop, it’s clear you're not here by choice, and I'm inclined to give you and your crew the chance to prove useful. If you aid us now, we can see about getting you safely back to Deepton—or wherever you might wish to go next." - he nodded.

He turns to the group. "Niphos and Athena have a point. This Guild of Service sounds like a nest of trouble, and we’re in no position to assault an entire camp if it’s well-defended. Let’s bind these guards, keep them silenced, and get hidden. Once we’re out of sight, we can decide whether to scout further or make our escape."

He then crouches down, starting to help secure the guards - "We can interrogate them later"

Slavers in service to the Evil One deserve death. He does like the rest of the plan and will cooperate in any event.
I am sorry about your friend, it was a poor throw (to the goblins)

Horasday the 6th of Molivios 2993 AEP 8:00 PM

Stonechewer says: “If you free me and my crew, we are certainly indebted to you but we would like to bury our friend and then head back to the lives which we had in Deepton. We are miners not adventurers. If you are ever in Deepton, you will be our guests and we will celebrate you with all the trappings of a goblin holiday. I will make sure of this. I will help you dispose of the body of that guard or all three if you choose.

Per the spell description:

Killing: Creatures enchanted by this spell are helpless and can be killed instantly with a bladed weapon.
Awakening: Slapping or wounding awakens an affected creature.
The duration is 4d4 turns; based on my roll that is 9 turns.

The goblins and guards will naturally awaken at 9:15 and be fully conscious at 9:20 without any intervention.

The party has to decide what they want to do with the Goblins and the Guards.

Niphos

Niphos nods to Stonechewer's words. There can be no question of keeping you against your will. I would recommend that you get as far away as possible before burying your friends. Your former captors won't be happy with your escape. Javess nudges Niphos' arm and puts the carved figure in his pouch. He and Javess begin making ready to move away quickly and quietly.

Thargus

Not wanting to waste any more precious time with talking, the man growls, then moves off to the guards, securely tying and gagging them. (How many are there? 2?)

Thargus then assists Gelli in setting the goblins free - "You are free to go" - he nodded.

Once that is settled, he sets himself to the task of dragging the corpses out of the way as best as possible, then covering them with branches if available - "Scavengers will find them anyway, but maybe others will not notice them immediately" - he shrugged.

We still have the caravan right? Thargus will check its contents, and

Then will slap one of the prisoner guards awake - "Who are you, and what are you doing here?"
