I mean, technically, wearing the Helm of Uthoth, Kiri
can understand it.
Hey, that's right!

but his heel finds a slab that is loose.
Oh, was that just a loose slab. I misunderstood then thinking it was a trapdoor or hatch.
Ok. I am fine with exploring ruins more.

Hi Blue.
In sharing this...

...(Grigor) discovers no ledger stones of burial vaults...
...I just meant that a crypt had not been found, in response to this:

"Are we going into the crypt below or exploring more of the ruined city?" he asks.
So many details are lost or misconstrued, due to the format of PbP, that I try to correct any minor misconceptions before they snowball.

Hey gang,
You shouldn't split the party. It'll end in a TPK! So we'll go with the will of the majority.
Here's the current vote tally, as I see it (please correct me if I'm wrong):
Search for the harpy nest and any treasure it might hold: Cruloc, Dahinna, Iago
Descend ladder in search of the Library at Thracia: Amethu
No vote yet: Grigor, Kiri, Zahra
Please indicate your preference in the IC thread with your next post, and then I'll push the action forward! Thanks.

Is it wise to head straight down upon arriving? Generally speaking, the lower you go, the tougher the monsters become. We just got here.

Kiri, remembering with deepest shame...
So deep is Kiri's shame that Pixie is blushing!

Thanks everyone. We have a majority:
Search for the harpy nest and any treasure it might hold: Cruloc, Dahinna, Iago
Descend ladder in search of the Library at Thracia: Amethu, Grigor, Kiri, Zahra
Onward!

The best map ever.
It's less of a map and more of an entry on the Periodic Table.

Are there 2 rope bridges forming a T intersection?

Almost. It's one T-shaped bridge that spans east into shadow, and north to the opposite cliff of the crevasse where a tunnel cuts into the rock. The PCs are at the bridge's southern end, marked on the map at the beginning of the "Rope Bridge."
On the map, the slatted T-shaped path is the bridge over the chasm (19).
The slatted straight, east-west path on the southern border of the map (18) is the stairway down to the cavern. Stairway, corridor and bridge are all single-file.
I'll adjust my IC post for clarity.

Speaking of our recent spider encounter and our not looking up... I remembered this guy from ages past. If you saw him you knew that your TV viewing for the evening was at and end

Hope the Americans among us are enjoying the long weekend.
Let's see what's cooking over in Rules Corner...
Urson, as you know, firing a missile weapon into an existing melee has a chance of hitting friend or foe alike (as per the DMG). I'll roll for which combatant comes under the javelin, then we apply your attack roll to the AC the randomly assigned target. If you forgot that, feel free to alter your action. If you didn't, please confirm you're good to proceed.
Grigor, PCs that attack in a round may only move 1" in that round. So I'll continue to slowly advance Grigor north.
Fyi, fleeing an existing melee without attacking allows full movement, but gives your foe a bonus free attack on you as you depart. (Ibid.)
Please let me know if you have any questions.

If the bat is stuck to Grigor, I can see the firing into melee rule applying.
What if the bat is swooping, and Zahra throws when the bat has separated from Grigor?
I'm just interested in an experienced DM's thought process is all.

Like Grigor, the bat can only move 1" in a round when it's attacking. So it's no longer swooping and dive bombing (a.k.a. Charging). The man-sized monster is staying close in a feral tangle of scimitar and wings.
More context from DMG p. 63:
discharge of missiles into on existing melee is easily handled... Assign probabilities to each participant in the melee or target group according to sheer numbers...
...(this) represents the fact that there will be considerable shifting and maneuvering during combat which will tend to expose both opponents to fire on a near equal basis.
And from Braveheart:
Longshanks : Archers.
English Commander : I beg pardon, sire. Won't we hit our own troops?
Longshanks : Yes... but we'll hit theirs as well. We have reserves. Attack.

It's a calculated risk, but Zahra doesn't want to wait.
