I was modelling the breakout of the Queen from the Docking Bay over breakfast...I can conclusively say that the door lands butter side down 9/10 times.

And should there be a giant space-labradoodle available, that door is toast!

OK - Exam question

There are two on the Passenger Deck (Indrani and Tiberius), two on the hanger deck(Anrwulf and Nalani) and three (plus 6 hangers on of various levels of usefulness) on the crew deck (Pranit, Noor and Maggie) and Reven blind-flying from the engineering desk.

The opposition have one somewhere (possibly outside, on the cargo deck or on the hanger deck), five (maybe 6 or 7 if you include the casualty in the lower part of the lift-shaft) on the freezer deck, lift shaft and bridge and 4-6 in a grav-vehicle or leaping into the crew airlock. Reven's mad-cap take-off has lost them the initiative and the possibility of outside help.

What is the overall plan for retaking the queen?

Discuss

Indrani's plan is to get them out of the bay. Then, they can scream for help using the distress beacon and all available comm channels.

Honestly, the crew and passengers have no realistic chance of retaking the ship. That's why Indrani had wanted to surrender in the first place, but the enemy isn't accepting that option. So, all they can do is hole up, buy time, and hope help arrives before they're all killed.

So, to make sure I have the situation precise.

The lift has one? claymore somewhere.
The lift seals between decks have all been opened or destroyed.
The cameras are out most everywhere the invaders are, except one in the bridge.
The exterior cams are out.
The drone is out.

What is the status of the Queen's computer now that the hacker has been disrupted?

Can we vent certain decks?

What Nālani knows:

The mine is on the roof of the lift leading down from the Hanger Deck to the Engineroom. The lift car is just below the Hangar. The other lift, leading to the bridge is not mined, but is in use by the intruders.

Not quite. It's on the roof of the lift that runs up from the Hanger Deck to the Passenger deck.

The other lift is not mined and was full of intruders...but the cameras are now out so it's hard to tell the current state.

The part of the other lift that covers the Cargo deck and Engineering deck still has a camera and at last inspection had a body in it - an intruder that got caught by a sudden G change and fell. This is currently sealed by a valve between the cargo deck and the hanger deck. That lift-shaft had a seal between the passenger deck and the crew deck, but that was forced open and jammed before the cameras shut off.

So the intruders are currently in the main shaft {between decks 1 (bridge) and 5 (hanger)} and on the bridge.
Assana, Indrani and Reven are connected to the computer, but that may depend on the actions of the Hacker and on the guys in the bridge.

Indrani locked out the bridge controls under her own authentication codes - if that helps.

Arnwulf: Do you have anything about your character's person that might help Nalani save your life?

Have I just been shot more times or is this the result of something else?

About Arnwulf's need for surgery. Can Noor try to talk Nalani through it? Noor would know what equipment she would need to deal with this problem, does Nalani have enough supplies or not?

If there is no reasonable chance this will work without more supplies, then Noor will have to negotiate with the invaders to allow her to reach Arnwulfl.

Noor won't be able to talk Nalani through full surgery...but she can probably improvise using suit patches, a boot-knife and and an electrical pair of pliers from the intruder's belt.. Medieval surgery techniques...no anaesthetic, no a-sceptic environment, no medical training. After that - get him in the aircar and fly to the port hospital?

This "roll the ship and cut the dampers" plan, does Nālani hear about it before it kills her and Arnwolf?

It hasn't started, yet, and yes, Indrani will warn the crew. It's not enough to hurt anyone, it just makes movement that much more difficult.

We're in the hangar with a loose air/raft, on the outer extremity of the ship. Maximum effect with a big object to crush us. Plenty of movement, and danger to boot. The raiders are in the lift-shaft, on the centre-line - minimum effect for them.

When Nālani hears the plan/warning I'll comment I/C as Pilot.

Indrani is thinking more of shaking people off the hull than messing with the raiders in the shafts. Even there, they will still have to make some adjustments. If they aren't experienced at such things, it could still be an advantage. In any case, we can work it out IG.

There are no raiders on the hull, just the team in the shaft, about to hit the passenger deck having done whatever they did on the bridge (kill the computer apparently). The people on the hull either entered the ship (via the hull breach on the Bridge roof or the freezer/hangar airlock) or were shaken off by the exit through the doors.

So, you'll throw Arnwolf and Nālani under the air/raft and shake up the rest, but leave the boarders relatively unscathed in the lift shaft.

Can you selectively cancel dampers instead? Then acceleration alone will pin the shaft occupants.

I figure having the entire ship spinning around the lift shafts would put a major damper on their ability to move around. That's quite a bit of rotational motion to deal with, even if there isn't much centripetal motion involved. I think we can leave the dampers running in the cargo hold, but the passenger deck's dampers would probably encompass the lift shafts at that level, too.

Assana was mucking about with the gravity controls and dropped one down the lift shaft earlier. They reacted by blowing up the computer and making control operation local.

Reven can turn off the inertial compensators - but they cancel out the engine's thrust only. Other accelerations aren't tied to the engines so aren't cancelled.
