Rhys the Traveler

Rhys draws his great bow. "Gather the troops. Archers in the middle, fighters around them. Use the building for cover, but let's be prepared to run."

Then, if he can spot the orc on top of building 3, he'll fire at it.

Anohir, Priest

Anohir gathers up with the archer, his sling ready.

Thurgan, dwarf

Thurgan keeps his crossbow readied and forms up with the fighters. "Let them come, more orcs to kill".

Sorry, it's been a crazy hot and busy day. Can you guys give me an idea where you are taking cover (i.e., which building, and, importantly, which face of the building (north, east, etc.)

I don't know about anyone else, but I was envisioning taking cover on the eastern side of building 8.

Aquar, cleric, joins the others on the eastern side of building 8.

The adventurers beat a hasty retreat to the cover provided by the nearest building. Not a moment too soon, as a dozen orcs pour out of a nearby building like ants from an anthill -- not the building from which the orcs stand watch, but a closer square structure. The orcs, clearly uncomfortable in the sunlight, begin to mill about, as if searching for danger. They do not yet see the adventurers, concealed as they are.
To clarify, the orcs on watch give a shout, and about twelve orcs emerge from the northern face of building #6. They do not see the adventurers. Please note the distance is about 600 feet between PCs and orcs.

Rhys the Traveler

Rhys says, "I will stumble out into view, cry aloud to draw their attention as i fall, then begin moving east in a meandering way, crying out that others should 'wait for me'. Once I've drawn them in close enough, like almost to this building, the archers can let loose and you can put them to sleep and hack them up."

Thurgan, dwarf

"A cunning plan Rhys. Shall we see if the archers can deal with the orcs so spells are saved in case of more reinforcements". Thurgan stands with his crossbow readied.

Aquar, cleric

Aquar nods to the plan. His throwing hammers have much less range than arrows and bolts, so the cleric stands amidst the group and prepares to cast his Benediction orison (+1 to morale, +1 to hit) to bring divine favor upon the men.

Severi, thinking of no better stratagem, consents.

Rhys the Traveler

Rhys nods, then says, "I'll let you know if they're following." Then he stumbles out from behind the building, into the open, falling down. He gets up and, without looking west, begins stumbling east, calling out, "Wait! Don't leave me!" He moves at a quarter of his full movement rate, trying to draw the orcs his way. After a moment, he'll chance a look behind him to see if he can get an idea of what they're doing.

The orcs fall for Rhys's rascally ruse, and break into a run after the mumming mystic, hooting and waving their blades about.
Nobody specifically stated it, but can I assume the men at arms with missile weapons will fire as well?

Yeah, of course.

There's only a dozen of them and we have a lot of missile weapons, so I don't see a need for Severi to Sleep them. He'll stand with the melee fighters in case a few escape the initial volley.

Sorry, I guess I didn't make it clear, but when I said "archers", I was referring to the mercenary archers.

Aquar is amidst the archers so they gain the +1 to hit from the Benediction.

Anohir, Priest

Anohir will release a few stones towards the orcs if they are within range.

Totally off topic, but you guys might be interested in checking out these two games. They're both on rpg.net, and you'll need an account to read them, but they're totally worth it. I think they're two of the finest examples of what a play-by-post -- nay, a D&D campaign -- can be like. The first is run by Wyzard, the second by another DM, with Wyzard, MonsterMash and me as players:
http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?519 ... D-Campaign
http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?682 ... f-Imladril

They both have a style that I try and emulate, to some degree, and it's also a good introduction to what I consider to be good posting technique, especially in the Imladril game.

Murlsey,MU

If Mursley gets an oppertunity to use his sling against the orcs he will.
