Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
You ponder how the party might follow Mason across the pit. The pit extends from one wall to the other with no ledge, and there appears to be no way to "reset" it so that it will not open. Elsa suggests a magic spell to carry people across the pit. Eduardo considers jumping across the pit, then thinks better of it. Malibran thinks it should be easy enough to manually drop into the pit and cross it.

Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Abrex says, "Mason, are you ok? We are working on a plan to get over the pits by using some of the pews."
Abrex says to the others, "How about we go back and bring a couple pews here and span the pits with those. If they are big enough to span the pits that is. We can put three down to cover the first pit then move two over to cover the second pit and have an extra in case there is another pit further on. And it assumes we can get the pews down to here through the passage way. We should only use the rear most pews also."
If this is agreeable Abrex will go back to get them, one at a time if necessary.

Elsa the Fair
"Awful lot of effort using the pews," grumbles Elsa with half-orc charm. "Ripping them out of the floor, carrying around corners. Worren you going to cast your disc spell and get this pit shyte over quick?"

Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
"I agree it is a lot of work but if we must return this way it secures our return path in case Worren is not able to cast the spell again. It may be that we have not other choice but at least it's an option until we see if they will even span the pit. I can telekinetically move us across the spans as well but should we use magic simple because we have it or should we save our powers in case we run into something more drastic", asks Abrex?
Abrex will utilize the disc with Ula at his side to cross both pits or wait his turn on the discs.

Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Indeed says Zoster Better having a more permanent way of avoiding the pits without relying on contingences such as magical spells. Besides, that will make it easier for my wolf friend here.
The druid will assist Abrex, noting that the pews previously identified as trapped should be avoided.

Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Eduardo will happily ride a disk across, or help gather boards from the pews if neccessary.
Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Abrex asks if Mason is okay after his fall. "Bah, it's just a little hole. I'm fine." Mason replies.
Abrex and Zoster return to the chapel and start pulling the boards off of a couple of pews. They carefully steer the boards over the railing and through the tunnel, then lay them over the pits. The boards wobble and bend, but seem to hold.
Yet another door awaits...

Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
just checking, but isn't there a save for Monks on fall damage?
At 6th level (Master), a monk can fall up to 30' if he or she is
within 4' of a wall.

Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
"My apologies for not using the disc," Worren says to Elsa. "But as Abrex said, if we have to come back this way, what will we use then? I can cast that spell but once. That would take us one way but not bring us back."

Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Eduardo is slightly disappointed at not getting to cross the pit on a magic hovering disk, but is happy to be moving on. He'll wait till everyone's across, then help move the boards to the next pit.
Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Abrex coaxes Ula across the first plank and put then says stay girl. Let the monk check for traps and signals for the others to line up against the walls unless they wish to move ahead. He scratches lucky's head in his backpack.
Abrex says, "Up to you, but Ula and I are hugging the wall while Mason check for more traps."

Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Did mason check the walls of the pit for secret doors before he came up? Thought it was mentioned a bit ago but i can't find it.
Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Sorry about that. I'm not that up on the monk powers. I'll fix it.Nuke66 wrote:just checking, but isn't there a save for Monks on fall damage?

Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Mason climbs out of the pit, none better for the fall and proceeds to check over the door. Frame and lock specifically. "Just gimme a sec." he calls back
Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Xale will get down low and peer over the edge of the pit; attempting to use his dwarven senses to determine if there are any sliding stone trap doors; sloping floors or other such similar traps or constructs to help out Mason....

Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Eduardo will hug the left wall beyond the pit, as suggested. He keeps his spear at the ready.
Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Elsa carefully walks over the pits on the repurposed pews seats. Abrex and Ulla wait between the pits, hugging the walls while Mason checks the final door.
Xale crosses over the pits. He lies down on the floor and peers over the edge of the second pit, looking for any unusual construction features: sliding doors, sloping floors, etc. He finds nothing of interest.
Mason carefully checks the third door, paying particular attention to the frame. The door has no lock, and appears to be untrapped. The monk carefully opens the door, revealing a passage that continues 40’ before turning to the north.

Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Elsa pauses at the latest door. She would like to proceed but it seems the lich likes its pits, so he waits for Mason to check ahead.
"Do one of you spell casters have spell or device to detect traps?" asks the half-orc. "It would speed our travel."
