Innana takes time to sharpen her blades and practice throwing knives at a near by tree. She notices how the air has an eerie feel to it and when her blade hits a tree thirty feet away the sounds of the knife twirling through the air and hitting the target seem to be amplified, yet hollow. There is no wind. Innana just wants to get away from this cursed place and head towards town.

She heads back to the group when she hears Bregalad say to Tratiln that she needs a horse. Innana stops near Tratiln and says, "Indeed. It would be nice not to be an extra burden, and have a mount of my own. I am sure the horses would hate me worst of all with my plate mail."

Lanny the elf

Lanny wakes before dawn, finding it difficult to sleep with such eerie stillness in the night air, and so he spends some time studying the pre-dawn sky with his spyglass. He then prepares his two Magic Missile spells for the day and also readies his gear for the day. He joins the conversations of the group.

"Jessup is much closer than Threshold, and has most of the basic necessities. I imagine they would probably have a horse for sale, as well as basic armor and shields. There might be a shield or two among the wreckage of Innana's caravan that we could salvage if necessary..."

Lanny would still like to explore the crypt to find out who is interred there before returning to Jessup, so that they can share this information with the villagers, but if everyone else is ready to return to town immediately, he will not object.
Lanny will make some knife markings on some trees to indicate the general direction of the suspected kobold lair before leaving the campsite.

The adventurers break camp and return to Jessup, arriving at midday having encountered no difficulty on their way back. They find that as they descend into the forest around the small village a faint, welcome breeze picks up. The townspeople seem surprised to see the party's return -- perhaps they thought them doomed for investigating the cursed tower, or likely to bypass such a remote hamlet for more cultured and luxurious settings. The townfolk greet the adventurers with waves and cheers, either because they are glad to see them whole and alive, or because their previous loose purse-strings have been remembered.

Saul doesn't forget he promised he would have Castanha looked over by the blacksmith when he returns so he inspects her shoes to see how they are holding up. After that he really does have to buy some arrows but that can wait, right now what he really needs is a nice steak with beer sauce and roasted mushrooms. He can finally afford to eat how he always dreamed instead of gruel... when he had enough coin for that. Fortunately his luck is changing, or rather, he is changing his luck by stealing it from others as he likes to think of it. He now has a horse, a purse with more money than he can deal with and even an armor.

He snaps out of his daydreams and remembers their new companion.

"Innana, how are you set for protection? I have a leather piece of armor I haven't worn yet that you can use. I'm just too fast for anything to hit me so if it pleases you I can lend it to you till you can find something that suits you better."

He didn't mean to brag but the fact is the armor hasn't even been near battle.
As you probably realised if you've been following, I bought it on a whim as Saul wanted to show he had some money and, truth be told, there hasn't been any real use for it so far. I don't know what you're equipped with so if it's an upgrade please take it and when you get something better Saul should be in enough trouble to finally wear it

Innana dismounts from the horse and walks the soreness out of her legs and body from the long ride. She is just thinking about soaking in a hot tub and getting some food when Saul offered her a very nice piece of leather armor. Innana faces Saul and unties her cloak at the neck and let it drop behind her to expose some beautifully crafted plate mail. The plate mail looked well cared for with swirl designs throughout the mail. Innana pulled out her sword, and held it upright exposing a blade with the same swirls throughout the sword. Innana smiles at Saul and says,"I appreciate your kind offer, but as you can see I come from a family of blacksmiths, and I feel most comfortable with plate mail.

The spirals are a sort of clan signature."
Innana pulls back her hair from the left side of her face exposing the nine spiral wodan tatoos around her left eye to show Saul how significant the spirals were.

Innana picks up her cloak and starts to help unload the horses, and turns back to Saul, and adds" The plus side of being raised with blacksmiths, and learning the skill myself is that if you or any of the others in our group would like help with making some nice horseshoes. I can maybe check to see if there is a forge in town that I can use. Perhaps I could pay for its use."

Lanny the elf

Lanny nods and smiles at each passerby as the party enters the village to much unexpected fanfare. Like the other members of the group, he intends to spend the day relaxing, shopping for needed supplies, and tying up loose ends in general. But first things first, Lanny stops inside the inn to speak to the innkeeper.

"Hello again, my friend! I'm sure by now you have heard about our adventures at the old tower. Well, tell me something... Is there a village elder or town historian here who might have been alive 50 years ago? We are looking for someone who might personally remember the tower's original inhabitants... Oh, and check this out: Here is a coin we found in the tower... It pre-dates the arrival of Duke Stefan into Karameikos and is probably at least 50 years old. A collector's item, no doubt..."

Lanny shows one of the gold coins found on the zombies to the innkeeper, hoping that the desired information will be shortly forthcoming...
Lanny will give the coin to the innkeeper if he provides helpful information.

Saul admires the work on Innana's weapons but her tatoos remind him of scrapes in some villages where, at the very least, he'd be marked for everyone to know he was a thief. He doesn't let her know this and comments on the fancy work.

"That certainly looks like quality equipment and I may take you up on that offer of yours. Now, I don't know about you but I'm starving and there's a place just around here somewhere."

Saul will eat, leaving an extra silver piece as tip, and find someone who sells arrows, he thinks about 40 should be enough.
I'll remove the SP and arrow cost from my character sheet when I get home and check their prices.

Bregalad the elf

Bregalad follows Lanny into the Inn. When there is an opportunity he will place his damaged metal shield before the Innkeeper, "Good day, Master Innkeeper. Is there a smith in town who can repair this shield? I am willing to pay double the cost of a normal shield to have it done, as it is of great personal value to me."

If a craftsman of shields is not available, then the elf will ask where he can purchase a new one.

After his shield business is taken care of, Bregalad will spend the remainder of his day practicing with his spear, hoping to advance beyond his normal proficiency.
Also, after reaching level 3, Bregalad memorizes Magic Missile for his third spell.

Innana notes the expression in Saul's eyes when he sees her tattoos, and thinks to herself that he is a man of many secrets. She had seen his smile grow dim and before he complimented her he looked away as if to search for the proper words. Innana has been around enough to understand that one is known at face value at what they show and tell, but when it comes to moments when nobody is watching, those moments in someone are defined by what they don't say. Well, Innana mused to herself, that is what makes a good thief, knowing when to be silent.

Innana likes the good attention the group is getting and is happy to be associated with them. She returns the smiles and notices some of the little girls staring at her. Good! Innana is happy that the girls get to see a woman who has chosen the path of a fighter. Perhaps it may inspire a young girl to venture out someday.

Innana watched Lanny, and Bregalad go into the Inn, and followed them in by a few minutes. Innana overheard Bregalad asking information on a local blacksmith for his shield. Innana clears her throat and waits for Brigalad to turn around. "hi" Innana smiles, and continues, " I could not help but to overhear that your shield is important to you and that you may be in need of a blacksmith", well, it looks like you are in luck because I am a blacksmith, and if there is a forge that I could use in this town I may be able to do a trade. Innana pauses for a moment and goes on, It seems I am a little short on funds at the moment and could use some food and a place to rest up, and help with buying a horse. If you are willing to trust me with your shield, I could see if I can fix it for you."

Tratiln takes some moments to restock his basic provisons - rations, torches, going to buy (if he can) 6 flasks of lamp oil (2 will be kept with the horse), and having his riding horse checked over to see if it needs new horseshoes. If he can, he'll also buy a couple flasks of holy water, if available.
If the party is going to spend the day and night in Jessup, Tratiln will then retire to his room to spend the rest of the day studying Analyze

Saul does enjoy endulging in theatrics and unleashes his inner ham.

"Short on funds? Oh, I must apologize, where are my manners, I'm really not fit to be in proper company.

I blame these brigands I associate myself with, they are trully wreaking havoc with my education. Imagine that, I found this purse, not two steps from you and forgot to enquire if it was yours. For shame, for shame."

While taking a deep bow he reaches to his belt and takes out his purse to present to the warrior.

Stepping behind Bregalad and friendly grabbing his shoulder he gestures wildly. "Again, I must apologise for myself, who must be said to be extremely pained with hunger and as such mentally weakened, and for these companions of mine. They are good people, they truly are, I try to bring their good intentions to the light of day but I'm afraid they are starting to drag me down into the dark pits of their violent, rude ways instead."

He breaks character, too hungry to keep it up, straightens his belt while clearing his throat, goes out to grab some coins from Castanha's bag leaving his companions and the rest of the patrons wondering what was that all about and, upon returning, heads straight to wherever his nose tells him there is food.

He looks back at Innana and Bregalad, but his shout is to the whole group:

"What are you waiting for? There's good lunch to be had here! Bregalad, move it, I have business to do with you! I thought you elves were quick on your feet, my friend, I assumed you ate quickly too! Thordin is probably on his second serving!"
For the sake of convenience can we say the bag had the equivalent of 100 GP?

Also, where in the world am I carrying 3,690 GP?

Saul needs a new purse now so he's minus 5sp. Removing 5gp for the arrows I'm buying off of Bregalad, 10 for his silver arrows, 100 for Innana's gift and 1 sp because Saul tips. 115 less gp and minus 6 sp.
EDIT: minor edits, forgot we were at the inn.

Marodin will get a good night's rest and, in the morning, begin to teach Semele the prayers required for the Immortals to grant her access to spells.

Semele's default spell will be Cure Light Wounds for now.

Innana watches Saul leave, and grins. What fun Saul is! She opens the pouch from Saul, and sees about 100 coins in it.

she looks after him and whispers. "Thank you, my friend", your kindness will not be forgotton."

The innkeeper directs Bregalad to one of the two local blacksmiths. "He's more expensive, but he's sober most the time, and spent some time in the Duke's army fifteen or so years ago, so he knows his way around weapons and suchlike." The smith proves to be an amiable man of some forty or fifty years who introduces himself as Hamlay the Younger.

Tratiln inquires as to the availability of holy water, and is directed to the only chapel in town, a rather generic temple devoted to the three major Immortals of the Traladaran pantheon: Halav, Petra and Zirchev. The head priestess frowns upon being asked as to the availability of holy water. "Well, that's not something we have laying about, you know. I can make some, but it'll be a day or three."

Tratiln rubs his chin for a moment. "Here, let me pay you a 50 gp advance on the holy water. If you are able to get some by the morning, that would be great. However, I don't wish your efforts to be wasted so if for some reason we don't end up coming back, at least you will have a small donation to your facilities."

Bregalad the elf

Bregalad thanks the Innkeeper, leaving him two gold pieces in exchange for the information.

As he takes his leave, he bows to Innana, "Thank you, warrioress, for offering your blacksmithing services. One day I will accept your offer, and would be honored if you taught me your craft. For now, enjoy this brief respite and Saul's assistance in buying a horse. That reminds me, I owe him some arrows!"

Bregalad quickly retrieves his arrows (19 normal arrows and 2 silver arrows) and trades them to Saul for 20 gold pieces. With a bow, the elf leaves the scout, and makes his way to Hamlay the Younger.

The elf bows to Hamlay the Younger in greeting. "Thank you, master smith. Will ten gold pieces be sufficient for now, and then ten more when I return for the shield?"

As Bregalad leaves the smith to work at his craft, he reminds himself to ask Hamlay about his former life as a fighter. Finally, the elf finds a safe area to practice furthering his skill with the spear!

Lanny the elf

After listening to Saul's lengthy speech at the inn, Lanny leans over to Bregalad and whispers quietly in elvish:

I swear, I did not understand a single thing he just said. What is the matter with that guy? He is very brave, and very good at his trade, but his orations often leave me completely in the dark. It is almost like he is speaking another language or something...

Lanny switches back to the common tongue.

"By the way, Bregalad, I might need to borrow some coins while we are here in Jessup, for I have none in my possession. Just enough for some basic supplies, if you have some coins to spare... Tis very strange how we have all this accumulated wealth in our possession, but no way to spend it!"

After shopping for supplies and running other errands, Lanny returns to the inn to rest and to finish studying Ventriloquism (hopefully still with Drudsa's guidance).
Hehe, I had to pick on Saul again, he had it coming. ;) Bregalad, not sure how much coinage Lanny would need to borrow, but will check out the shopping lists and let you know. By the way, Lanny is still carrying the shield (from Tratiln) that Bregalad had been using previously, so if there is any problem with Bregalad getting his favorite shield fixed, Lanny will happily return this one, since Lanny will be moving more exclusively to the longbow from this point onwards.
