Elizabeth, dress forgotten, sprints through the back door after Helen. Her tattoos now shift and roil even when looked at directly, and something Deep and Dark burns in the depths of her eyes. Twin serpents, black as night just like her tattoos, seem to flow out of the tattoos on her shoulder and arch next to her ears, giving her the look of a multi-headed, chimeric beast. As soon as she comes out into the alley, she begins to sway. The serpents rising out of her shoulders swaying along with her trying to catch the gaze of everyone nearby. Her hands move in a slow, soothing gesture.

Elizabeth tries to cast sleep on the two men (and probably everyone else in the alley too).

I'll use a luck token if the casting fails.

Notes: If anyone from inside is joining the fight it will be on Round 3 when they join Helen as she comes out the backdoor with a club.

Gurabal: AC14, HP6/10, LSword +2 1d8

Round 2

With the longer reach, and the nastier outlook, Gaurbal decides the spearman Joe is the biggest danger and swings his sword at him [1d20+2]=6+2=8, but Thug2 blocks Gaurbal's swing and makes a thrust at Gaurbal who attempts to block it with his shield! Gaurbal easily sweeps the thrust aside just as Thug1 dives in slashing with his dagger! The slash misses badly, but now Gaurbal has two enemies at CLOSE range with him one with a spear and one with a dagger!

OOC: During Round 2 everyone other than Gaurbal can move from OUT OF RANGE to NEAR (within ~30 ft), but that's all you can do! Unless you say different I'll apply any actions you posted this round as taking place next round.

Galreth runs to the back, not seeing his companion. Turning into a dark alley Galreth runs toward what sounds like a fight. He thinks he heard Gaurbal shout something ahead and other voices. He hears the sound of metal on metal as he runs. It is too dark to make out much. Then the back door opens, light spills out showing Gaurbal facing off with two opponents, and several people rush out into the back yard.

Before anymore of the fight can take place people begin to rush out of the backdoor. First is Helen, the barmaid, carrying a club, she circles around behind Thug2 and prepares to bash him! Vesper is right on Helen's heels and moves around the three barrel assessing the scene as she goes deciding how to use her dagger.

Tinu piles out right behind Vesper, pulling a small knife from a sheath no one has noticed that has been hanging around her neck. She move to Vesper's right to protect her watching the proceedings as she moves.

Draven wastes no time drawing his sword and heading out back. He suspects it’s one of theirs in trouble and isn’t dawdling. There is a traffic jam at the backdoor and he finds himself stuck behind the women. He finally makes it out just as two Thugs are trying to hit Gaurbal, one with a spear the other with a dagger, neither with success!

Elizabeth, dress forgotten, sprints toward the back door after Helen. She has to wait to get out as Helen, Vesper, Tinu and Draven all force their way out before she can follow them. Emerging into the back yard of the Tavern she sees Gaurbal to her left with two figures attacking him, one with a spear and the other with a dagger. At the back of the spearman is Helen holding a club up to bash him. Around to her right she sees Vesper with a dagger and Tinu beside her with a small knife flanking the Thugs from that direction. Just in front of her and moving left to the Thug's flank is Draven with his long sword drawn.

In the darkness, well behind Gaurbal, Elizabeth, Vesper and Tinu spy someone else sprinting down the alley toward Gaurbal. It is too dark even with the light coming from the open door to recognize who it is, though!

To support Draven's attack Vesper darts in attempting to distract the spearman by throwing her tunic over his head to distract or unsight him and then withdraws back.

Round 3

Helen, the barmaid, carrying a club, circles around behind Thug2 and attempts to bash him! [1d20-1]=8-1=7 Her club whistles past his ear missing him and she says several unlady like words because of that!

The man with the spear thrusts at Gurabal again ([1d20+2]=10+2=12), but is again blocked by his shield!

Draven advances and moves to strike the spearman, if possible from the side with his longsword [1d20+1]=14+1=15 piercing the spearman's side ([1d8+1]=2+1=3)! Gasping the Spearman stumbles back and away from Draven, turning to run!

Trying to support Draven's attack Vesper darts in attempting to distract the spearman by throwing her tunic over his head and then withdraws back. The tunic slides off the Thug's back as he also withdraws attempting to move away from Gaurbal and Draven.

Before the Thug with the spear can move away from him, Graubal stabs at him ([1d20+2]=2+2=4) missing badly!

"Too many!" shouts Thug1 as he turns and throws his dagger at Tinu who is moving in ([1d20+2]=20+2=22) then turns to run for the back alley! Tinu staggers as the dagger ([1d4]=3 doubled) penetrates her stomach! She is badly hurt, but still up!

Galreth attempts to Hypnotize on the man not under potential attack by the club ([1d20+3]=5+3=8), but it fails as he is still running and the man is not really looking at him! OOC: no Hypnotize until after your next long rest)

Elizabeth looks at the scene in front of her and weaves her hands chanting a Sleep spell. She doesn't consider that if it succeeds it will put, not only the two villains to sleep, but several of her new friends. Striking a pose, her eyes seem to unfocus as she thrusts her fingers forward saying the final trigger words ([1d20+4]=6+4=10) and an aura of calm extends outward covering the entire NEAR distance in front of her. She struggles to keep the spell active, barely succeeding, but almost immediately figures begin to fall!

As her eyes refocus she sees both of the villains sprawled on the ground, but also Vesper, Tinu, Draven and Gaurbal...and the barmaid, too! Elizabeth can't help but be a little proud that her spell worked like it was supposed to, first time, no need to even redouble her efforts!

Galreth comes pounding out of the dark alley behind the sleeping Gaurbal and stops. He looks around at all the fallen people! He doesn't know how Sleep works, so he isn't sure what Elizabeth just did to everyone!

"Last time I tried that, I put myself to sleep." Elizabeth brushes off her hands in satisfaction. She looks over at Galreth. "Help me wake up our companions. Just give them a vigorous shake. Don't worry, the thugs aren't waking until we shake them. You could scream in their ear and it wouldn't wake them. Once everyone's awake we can bind and awaken the thugs."

Elizabeth approaches Vesper first, and gives her a solid shake. "Hey, fight's over. The bad guys are asleep. Help me wake our companions, and then we can deal with the two thugs."

Galreth is careful not to step or wake up the two. He will gather the jug they were going to dump in the the ale.

He unarms them carefully and looks for rope ot\r a belt to tie them up with.

Okay, you can keep the spell. :) Here's the quote:
One creature with 3 HD or less that can see you is rendered stupefied.


I'm ruling that just that it can see you doesn't mean that it is actually looking at you, and it has to be looking at you for you to hypnotize it. Didn't really matter in this case as Elizabeth put them all the sleep.

Oh, and the jug is empty. It very well could have been poured in one of the barrels of ale...probably the one that is currently open, and that a waiter is about to fill his pitcher from. Right Now!

Clearly the stabbed and slumbering elf is more important... but once that's sorted, I'm concerned about the state of the other ladies.

Namely their status habitus(?)... state of attire. Didn't one of them do something to the other's dress, and later take off her own to throw it at a thug?

"Wha... No!" Vesper's eyes snap fearfully awake as she takes in her surroundings. After but a moment's appreciation of the "battlefield" as she takes in Elizabeth's words she seems much more herself and asks Elizabeth "Impressive, was that you?"

She nods gratefully on seeing Galreth still standing and then urges Elizabeth "Wake Draven - he has healing herbs. Tinu and Gaurbal look sorely hurt!"

As Elizabeth rouses Draven she's aware of Vesper moving to tend to the sleeping Gaurbal whose face is awash with blood.

Vesper checks about herself before kneeling next to the fallen warrior and then (surprisingly?) casting magic. Vesper deliberately keeps her voice low so Elizabeth can only make out the harsh tones of a tongue she doesn't recognize.



It seems Vesper's possible attempts to conceal her casting are her undoing and the spell fails.

She then wakes Gaurbal (whose first view on waking will be Vesper's decolletage within a man's white shirt - does she not know you can use the buttons all at the same time???) "What were these two up to? I'm sure they work for the Red Man".

She tries to see if she recognizes either from the earlier encounter at the bath house.

(OOC: Healing Touch (WIS Spell +1). DC 11. Heal one creature within close for 1d4 HP = Failed to cast.

Apolgies to Gaurbal's "bugle" but she'll keep her LUCK reserved for later...

I've stashed the roll with Eris but Vesper wouldn't know that result yet).

"O-oh! Umm, yes." Elizabeth hurries off to rouse Draven.
As Elizabeth rouses Draven she's aware of Vesper moving to tend to the sleeping Gaurbal whose face is awash with blood.

Vesper checks about herself before kneeling next to the fallen warrior and then (surprisingly?) casting magic. Vesper deliberately keeps her voice low so Elizabeth can only make out the harsh tones of a tongue she doesn't recognize.
Elizabeth cocks her head curiously at Vesper's strange murmurings, but doesn't comment on it. Once Draven is awake, she she takes a deep breath, gets ready to duck, and rouses the barmaid. "Umm, everything's perfectly alright now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now. How are you?"

Clearly the stabbed and slumbering elf is more important... but once that's sorted, I'm concerned about the state of the other ladies.

Namely their status habitus(?)... state of attire. Didn't one of them do something to the other's dress, and later take off her own to throw it at a thug?

An important point as Vesper's presence in any (non dungeoneering) scene tends to influence the "bawdometer". So her appearance is now as a tunicless "stage woodsman" quartered tunic (now white cotton shirt) and hose. Edited into my last.

Elizabeth was trying to undo (literally) the "Hello Boys improvements" to her previously modest dress after Vesper adjusted the lacing and turned the Va va voom up to "eleven"...

Gaurbal

Gaurbal is momentarily confused as he is shaken awake. He wonders why he is lying on the floor and his hand instinctively goes to the dull ache of his nose.

The resulting sharp pain brings everything into focus and he sees Vesper kneeling over him. He doesn't register her question, but stumbles to his feet and looks around.

"The two thugs, they put something in the ale barrel."
