Sir Dewey

As Sundance collapses he takes one last look inside the tomb and then rushes to her side. "Give me room!" The Knight drops to his knees and checks to clear Sundance's airway, then starts rhythmically pressing down on her chest, glad that she wears a compressible outfit.

"One, two, three, four, one two three four." He mutters to himself, seemingly keeping time to some unknown beat.

[1d6]=3

"What in Ygg's name is that gem?"

Sven has that look like he is in over his head again.

“Ya, it’s a soul gem. We found these big, perfect diamonds in the Nergal shrine, I think. Everyone I spoke with said they were invaluable, and wouldn’t even offer me a price. They all guessed they had a specific purpose, which I interpreted to mean they might entrap evil souls.”

“So that’s what I tried, but now I’m not sure if it just messed up Sundance instead. If you haven’t figured it out yet, we are sorta learning as we go here.”

Looks as though the sun is setting, fast falling the Eventide for the firebrand mercenary mage.

Sundance sunsets? : Breathing out Constitution check vs 8 [3d6]=16

The fours miners put down their tools, taking off helms and provide a tenor and bass back up to a funeral dirge, Sigrid can lead the song in a halting soprano voice.

Sundance breathes out. Initially collapsing

Sundance: CSW [2d8+1]=7+1=8

which brought her to -2hp and despite CPR (Sir Dewey's medic training lowers her negative hp Con check from a usual 4d6 to 3d6 vs Con 8. Even giving any bonus from the paladin's administration, the gap between 8 & 16 is still too far apart) and Sundance continues to fade rapidly -4hp/8.

Sigrid feels horrified and helpless and decides to attempt to use her first aid kit, though she has little skill with such things. Breaking it out and applying it to her fallen friend.

The Paladin knows that it isn't working and decides to lay on hands as a last resort. "By Ygg's grace through our hands, our ally is saved."

Sir Dewey invokes his paladin blessing, ministering healing virtue in the name of St Ygg upon the stricken mage. Sundance suddenly gasps, the holy CPR igniting a stilled heartbeat into motion. +6hp (2/8hp)

She feels wounded and drained, her injuries interior and possibly mental or soulish rather than physical so the 1st Aid Kit could be reserved for later use though she had been injured by the zombies prior.

She sits up, hale, breathing, colour returning to her cheeks. The miners stop their requiem.

The odd moment over. What caused it is open to speculation. Thoughts csn turn to that and exploration of the four rooms.

Actions everyone please.

Sven looks at his gem, then to Sundance, trying to see if the woman looks differently in any way.

“Are you feeling okay? Can you describe what happened, or what it felt like? You are half Elven, correct? Elves have…….spirits? Is that true? If we can figure out what escaped that tomb, it might help us at some point.”

He asks the others out in the hall if they heard or sensed anything, hoping to get a direction of travel, if possible.

If he still has control of the rats he summoned earlier, he has them go inside the room to check out the black walls, hoping it triggers a reaction.

If not, he tries tossing some rations or zombie flesh in front of the threat instead.

“I think those black greasy wall sections are dangerous, for some reason. Any ideas?”

The young mage returns her first aid kit to her backpack, while Sir Dewey delivers his ministrations, a fraught look upon her face. At Sundance's, sudden revival, Sigrid exclaims, "Praise to the All-Father! Are you alright Sundance?" She offers her water and some food from her kit and then turns to Sir Dewey, "Thank you Sir Dewey," her hand alighting for a moment over his, smiling.

"There are a lot of portals down here. Could those black tar walls be portals?"

She tries throwing a pebble straight at one of the diagonal black walls, checking if it bounces or passes through.

He steps back to give Sundance some room, offering a hand when she is ready. "Take your time, but yes, what can you tell us?"

Sir Dewey grasps Sigrid's hand in his and nods. "Anytime. Ygg cares for all. As do I."

Eventually, he turns back to the tomb. "Yes, Orgoth, I think so. The shield should help those nearby somewhat, but possibly only when shining. Also, that sarcophagus is radiating evil, strongly. I suspect disturbing it will release something."

He waits for the results of the experimentations.
