Hex and Raffi both dismount and lead their ponies to the side of the trail, tying the reins to low sturdy branches or trunks that will accommodate them.

With a nod of his head Hex indicates the halfling should disappear.

The thief will slink off into the trees for 30 feet, as quietly as he can, drawing his sword and holding his dagger hilt in readiness.

The gnome will find a big trunk and flatten himself against it, so it’s shielding him from whatever is rustling behind them.

Androgost

Moves behind the nearest tree, making the assumption that the danger is behind the group.

Since Raffi is at the rear and the group is heading south. Is that 30ft. back the way the group came (north) and towards the rustling to the rear or to the East (his left) or West (his right), or perhaps something else all together?

He will head to the west or east, wherever the trees are thickest in either of those directions, but not directly towards or away from the rustling.

Sideways rather than forwards or backwards from the suspected approach of … something.

In the Jotens - Scattering in the Woods
Late Afternoon Starday, 8th day of Planting, 597
3rd day since leaving Loftwick

Qleceec (AC 1, HP 63/63)
Androgost (AC -6, HP 59/65, Armor 23/26)
Nah Olos (AC 4, HP 53/53)
Siouxsie (AC 2, HP 44/48)
Garrant (AC 8, HP 50/50)
Hex (AC 0, HP 27/27, Armor 8/8)
Raffi (AC -1, HP 21/21, Armor 8/8)

Qleceec starts to ride forward towards the platform, bow in hand. As you ride, you find the ground and the mush gets worse and it is not as solid as it was even a few yards before. The horses hooves seem to be releasing chlorine gas into the air as you ride and the smell is very strong, dominating all other smells in the forest. You know that stopping would not be an option. You are going to need to make a save vs. Breath Weapon (Base damage is 20 points, If you are successful in saving you and the horse you are riding take no damage but half if you fail, the horse in tow needs to make a save on its own and gets to take full or half damage.) The horses picked by Androgost were all upper end to high quality and have 2 HD and each HD is a 5-8 points (d4+4 or 2d4+8 total). There is an area of chlorine gas about 25' in diameter that Qleceec just past through.

Garrant casts a Dispel Magic at the rustling trees behind the group, but it appears to not have any effect as they continue to move. Androgost dismounts to take cover behind a tree and Nah Olos dismounts and moves to the east (his left) about 15' with his crossbow. Hex and Raffi both dismount and lead their ponies to the nearest tree and tie them up, realizing the group is not on a trail. Raffi only has time to get about 15' to the west (his right) and Hex follows the example of Androgost moving behind a tree at this point. Siouxsie seems unshaken by the whole affair.

Actions? Everyone except Qleceec please roll [_4d6] with Garrant giving me two of them.

Rolls
Dispel Magic - [_1d100]=(88)=88

Raffi continues to move the other 15’ this round, as quietly as he can.

Hex stays behind the trunk, but will take out his wand in preparation.

Nah Olos crouches behind a tree or whatever there is for cover, aiming the crossbow in a slow circle

Siouxsie

Holds the group. We are walking or riding into an ambush. The owl hoot more likely a signal to attack than a bird of prey.

The chlorine is strong. I will cast Control Winds, causing a powerful vortex of air to spin in ever increasing circles around us and then outwards, hoping to blow the gas away from our presence and into the surrounding woods to discomfort those who lay in wait.

It might also help us breath cleaner air.

Garrant

"I think the rustling is just a ruse to get us to move forward, perhaps an illusion or the like."

He looks around for signs of anyone lurking in the trees.

Androgost would have lead his steed with himself. Can we get a position map of the area?

I was struggling with how you would hide behind a tree and lead your stead?

Anyway not exactly what I expected so really no map - yet. Here is a map of the characters last two moves on a blank page (10' squares). The dark green circle is the gas place and the rustling is happening from behind with the edge of it being the light green area. There is no trail and a thicker forest as described.

Androgost

OCC: heh, Androgost is not trying to hide his horse behind the tree, he would lead it with him though, not abandon it.

Nods at Siouxsie’s efforts to quash the gas. Feeling that the stone platform is the most immediate destination (based on the map provided) but wants to distribute the party to remediate the risk of another cloud. He will tie his steed off and continue to the right of the cloud, moving forward. Nah, follow me. Siouxsie, move with Garrant, Hex, and Raffi forward along the left side of where the cloud occurred. Let’s try to flank Qleceec’s postion as we move forward.

In the Jotens - Scattering in the Woods
Late Afternoon Starday, 8th day of Planting, 597
3rd day since leaving Loftwick

Qleceec (AC 1, HP 53/63)
Androgost (AC -6, HP 59/65, Armor 23/26)
Nah Olos (AC 4, HP 53/53)
Siouxsie (AC 2, HP 44/48)
Garrant (AC 8, HP 50/50)
Hex (AC 0, HP 27/27, Armor 8/8)
Raffi (AC -1, HP 21/21, Armor 8/8)

Qleceec rode through the front patch somehow causing chorine gas to shoot up from the ground. The gas does 10 HP of damage to Qleceec and 10 of 13 hp to the horse she is riding. The spare horse that is trailing Qleceec never makes it out of the gas patch. Qleceec yells through the trees which is heard by all (good rolls all) - "Dragon Daughters in the front."

Siouxsie starts to create a wind to blow away the chorine patch moving a clockwise direction with a huge radius except for the 40' diameter hole in the middle centered on Siouxsie. At the end of the first round the wind is blowing at about 3 miles / hour. Not much affect on the gas cloud, yet.

Hex gets out his wand and is watching the back and Raffi continues to sneak around the forest.

Garrant looks around to the back looking for trouble from behind.

Towards the front Androgost tries to get Nah Olos and his crossbow to follow him around the gas cloud to the right side (west side since you are facing south) and calls back to have the remaining party member flank to that side.

Actions?

Rolls

Androgost

Will stay for the moment and observe the groups movements to make sure they are headed in the directions indicated, he does not want to spread the group to thinly and allow opponents to pick off stragglers. He will use arm movements to indicate movements to others as needed, keeping vocal commands to a minimum.

Siouxsie

Will concentrate on manipulation of the wind to blow the chlorine gas away from the group and towards any ambushing Shtelke or other minions of Prebish.
