Ch. 2: Finally Inside the Tomb

Razluki, careful to avoid the pits, moves to join Skarlos. "I say we join our fellows and, for good or ill, share their fate."

"Okay - anyone else? How about you our Dwarven friend?"

Urdak nods. Ae knoz minin' n fightn. Done some little minin' here, but fightn's best done all togethern.

[saalaria]

Okay - why don't you lead us through? Everyone rrady? Let's go"

Skarlos will wait for the others to form up, holding Urdak back to stop him charging off if necessary, then once everyone is set, we'll go through the arch.

Everyone agree or what?

Do you stay on the path or step off?

If we're staying on the path where we are at, I'd say even a nincompoop like Urdak would, especially if he had someone like Skarlos to hold him back and guide him thru. To be fair, it did go unstated.

[Bhart]

Very good. The rest of you suddenly find yourself in a small room with a huge gargoyle statue as well as Quinn, McCloud, and Skiiratch.

[Bhart]

Skiiratch examines the statue closely, paying special attention to the arms (including the one broken off). What sizes do the depressions appear to be? That of a coin? Or.. bigger or smaller?

He also examines the statue to see if there is anything on it not made of stone.

The statue appears to be made of only stone. The depressions in the hands are the size of a medium to large gemstone. The broken arm on the floor does not have a depression like the others.

[Bhart]

"ah, one more step and I'll chop something else off....and it won't be another arm!", McCloud says, waving his sword in front of the statue.

"where are we...?"

McCloud will first check for any sight or sound of Bindle, squeezing by the statue and to the corner of the exit tunnel.

The narrow tunnel is dark and quiet. There is no sign of Bindle. Suddenly you get the feeling something bad has happened. It is as if somewhere far far away a monk cried out and was suddenly silenced.

"Well met again fellows, have you seen the old man?"
Kaltar inspects the statue from a distance.

[Stirling]

"Well met fellows...are we all here? any damage? ", unconsiously McCloud will check under his kilt to make sure all his 'family jewels' are in order. "Well that wasn't too bad was it?"

With no sight or sound of Bindle, McCloud will wonder if the old man came this way or not. "I'll scout ahead a minute, give you guys room to check out the 'welcomer' over there". Striking a torch, McCloud will press on into the dirt tunnel, resheathing his sword and using his free hand to check the wall and floor for traps, footprints, tripwires, moving slowly to concentrate on any sound, creak, rustling of leaves, wind.

[Alethan]

"The monk wandered off on his own..." Skiiratch mutters absentmindedly as he ponders the stone gargoyle. "Not sure why. Everybody knows bad things happen when you do that."

"See here," he adds, pointing at the arms, "Each of these three hands has a depression in it the size of a gemstone. But the broken one doesn't. Any thoughts? Seems to me we should put something in the three depressions, but I've no idea what."

Once Mcloud leaves the room, Skarlos will follow and try to keep him in sight - he wont get too close to the thief...just in case!
He wont go too far from the exit from the room for now either

Here is what the statue looks like...

After eyeing up and down the statue, the Dwarf will instinctively begin checking the rooms stonework for moving floors, walls, ceilings...

You find no sign of moving or shifting stone work. Everything seems to be solid, well crafted, and very old.

[Bhart]

Mc Cloud and Skarlos explore the tunnel and find it opens into another great hall after a short distance. The tunnel exits high in the west wall, it looks like a 7-8 foot drop to the tiled floor below. The light of McCloud's torch flickers and dances off the painted walls of a space very similar to the entrance hall. The murals are of animals, strange glyphs, and human-like creatures holding spheres of different colors. The hall stretches off into the darkness to the south.

Any thoughts? Seems to me we should put something in the three depressions, but I've no idea what."

"you could use your nuts!?" echoes a voice from down the dirt tunnel.

"Well met again fellows, have you seen the old man?"

Doh - too many clerics...guess the sig gives it away!

McCloud will turn to Skarlos, "pray for me brother, might be in need of some divine blessing. The torchlight will already have announced our presence." So fearing nought and everything at once, McCloud will lower himself to the floor and , taking a line down the middle of the room move to the square between the doors. Are there just murals and frescoes on the walls, is the hallway empty of furniture, statues, obstacles? McCloud is hoping that his 'magic boots' will give him some advantage should he suddenly spring a trap and he'll need an extra boost to 'jump' out of the way.
