Affter everything is address, Hiro will conclude "We need to discuss this matter between ourselves, of course. We will be in touch. Your comm code?"

Hiro records Boduke's comm code on a slip of paper, using his fountain pen.

Hiro says his goodbye's and as everyone is preparing to depart, Hiro asks one more question. "Mr Boduke, where did you get my comm code?"

You are taking a lot on the word of a stranger. Check out the stranger, check out the target, check out the environment - physical and social. If that house is rented from the local Mob or the Police Chief it would be relevant.

As to the philosophy, I can see that there may be days of debate on the issues raised by this situation

As it stands now, even taking what Boduke says as fact, I am not particularly motivated to stir up trouble with my sister and announce my location to her, before I am ready to take back my birthright and bring justice to her. How about we take a day to gather information on Boduke and this winery. After we gather what information we can, I propose we meet back and discuss whether we take Boduke up on his offer or instead take on the animal transport offer. Does that sound good?"

Only prudent. Beside her own power, your sister has obviously got influential local connections. I, at least, would need to know a lot more before doing something so drastic as to rob a luxury brand business.

Good excuse to have another decent meal, too. It's the high-society types that can afford to put money in that safe, they're a good way to verify some of this story.

  • Broker (Look at the trade patterns - deliveries, etc - or the Books)
  • Diplomacy (Work around who is pulling who's strings in the wine business is a high-end thing. Many wineries organise weddings: Anyone need marrying? I'm a priest!)
  • Carouse (Drink the winery dry, organise a party for winery owners, find the employees bar of choice and pump them)
  • Recon (scout entrances, exits, escape routes, approach routes, points of entry, cameras, other sensors)
  • Sensor Ops (set sensors to look the place over)
  • Remote Ops (Use drones to access it from a distance)
Similar skills can be used against the provocateur to flesh out what they are up to.

Also Soc 10, Leadership 1, and the Edu/Int to back it up. Hopefully sufficient to approximate Diplomacy... :)

Lets go look at the winery.

He looks on the computer (Computers Roll (2d6 + EDU + Computers) = [2d6+2]=3+2=5) for a tour. OK - No sign of any as far as I can see

Hiro fixes himself another mug of tea and gets to work. He begins with the simple things.

He starts with looking what what is publicly available about the winery, searching public postings, like wine listings, news listings, reviews of the wine.

He also uses the sensors to scan for any starships, small craft or grav vehicle activity currently over the winery.

Hiro, being careful to cover his tracks by by using burner communications (which will only be used once away from the ship and then destroyed) and avoiding cameras, contacts the police department, potraying himself as Rik Dzhoovet, an off world private investigator for a major insurance company, investigating a case involving missing hazardous cargo; it is undetermined if it was theft or barratry. He will try to get to talk to someone in the Theft and Fraud division, and try to gleam any information about Boduke and the Hazardous cargo handlers.

Finally, after moving locations, Hro will call the consierge for the casino he recently visited. Hiro tries to use his status as a high roller and a few well placed lies to try and determine if Boduke or any of the winery staff are in debt to the casino, portraying himself as a concerned friend. If so, Hiro will cheerfully offer to "pay off" the debt of his friend. (That is "buy the outstanding debt").
