Looking For The Enemy

With rocks still crashing in around them, the brave fighters in the group advance on the menace before anyone else gets crushed. Drest and Xenos get closer while Akhilleus lights another torch. As they await the next crashing rock, footsteps on the hard stone floor are heard coming nearer. By the time the torch is tossed and the seconds tick off, a large humanoid figure lumbers directly up to the crowded barricade.

The 8 foot tall inhuman beast holds a large rock in each hand, flailing one of them as a weapon at the head of Akhilleus, who is just barely able to duck the crushing blow. The monster roars loudly and appears ready to attack again, this time with both hands.

The torch bearing Euripides decides to leave Valkrina to her fate on the opposite side of the suddenly closed door. Perhaps it was she who closed it herself? He notices the writing scratched into the wood, but doesn't read it himself, for obvious reasons, instead moving back towards the others to shout out what he's found. Once he gets a little closer, he can see and hear the battle playing out with his friends behind the distant barricade.

Akhilleus

Seeing that Xenos has already got into action, Akhilleus decides to forgo any precautions and charges at the monster.

Broad sword (one-handed) - To hit: [1d20+2]=6+2=8; Dmg: [1d8+3]=1+3=4

Broad sword (one-handed) - To hit: [1d20+2]=4+2=6; Dmg: [1d8+3]=6+3=9

I'm gonna only play magic users from now on. Those are the ones who have to roll the least dice.

I think my average roll on a d20 on these boards is 6. No kidding.

Euripides Nereos

Seeing that the others are engaged in combat, Euripides will leave the torch on the ground in the middle of the room before attempting to circle behind the creature for a backstab.

The Odd Looking Enemy

The lumbering cadaver takes the blows from the fighter and the warlock, neither of them causing it a scratch, while Drest and Euripides try to sneak around behind the monster.

The beast swings its arms wildly and one of the rocks it clutches smashes into the side of Akhilleus, likely breaking at least one rib in the process. 5 dam

Drest gets into position behind the monster as Euripides lays down his torch and follows up behind their Scout. With the monster concentrating on the fight before it, both of them are able to get into position for their rear attacks. (I will use the rolls Scott has already provided so we should be able to get another quick round in here.)

Drest

Short Sword back attack [1d20+4]=4+4=8 to hit [1d6+1]=3+1=4 damage (needs to be doubled)

Not that it matters, but I wasn't sure if his Str dam bonus gets doubled too.

Akhilleus

The warrior grunts with the pain inflicted by the flesh creature. He doesn't relent and answers with two quick swings of his sword.

Broad sword (one-handed) - To hit: [1d20+2]=11+2=13; Dmg: [1d8+3]=3+3=6

Broad sword (one-handed) - To hit: [1d20+2]=16+2=18; Dmg: [1d8+3]=4+3=7

The Odd Enemy

The monster smacks Xenos this time, hitting him in the head pretty hard with a hand full of rock. 4 dam The other rock missis the mark.

If a flurry of blades, the 4 explorers stab and slash at the disfigured monster, hitting it over and over with devastating attacks. However, none of their blows seem to do anything to slow down or deter the abomination in any way. Without expression, it winds up to smack someone around again.

Xenos

"I don't think we can hurt it. Maybe we just need to get past it and out the door. We should split up and keep our distance."

Drest

Drest heads for one of the lit torches on the ground, planning on using it as a weapon.

"Try fire!"

"One of the torches on the floor"? How many are there? Akhilleus threw one, Euripides still has the other one.

Another player not reading the posts?

Also.....the torches on the floor were already marked on the map. They are the little burning matches.

Akhilleus will go back to where Euripides left his torch and come back. He will attempt attacking the creature with it.

Forgot about that specific action. Should've read back. Sorry.
