The Knife

The Knife continues to sit up in the tree, waiting to rain down death on the crabs.

Keyon

"Come on, lads!" He urges his companions on. "I'm far too pretty for pitched battle." Keyon grins and stabs hard at the deadly crab, hoping and praying he's nimble enough to dodge any return strikes.

The Search For Some Drawn Butter
Earthday, 25th of Goodmonth
Noonish, Hot, Humid, Buggy

Seeing the beasts ugly maw for the first time, Keg quickly finds the strength to free himself form the painful grip of the crabs claw. He attacks the monster again to no avail, still unable to penetrate this things thick natural armor. Gnodric does much the same, as does Keyon, all of the fighters having a difficult time killing this badly injured beast. The thief Keyon is next to get his lesson in pain on how angry crabs defend themselves, getting himself pinched in between one huge claw that nearly cuts the thin elf in half. 5 dam (Hard Str roll to break the grip, allowing you to attack again if successful)

Darklin, the only combatant apparently able to damage this enemy, slashes at the other crab again, a blow that would have surely ended the injured beast attacking his friends. The minor wound doesn't stop the fresh crab from swinging both of its mottled claws at the lone elf, but Darklin is somehow able to duck and dodge the multi-clawed attack once again.

Elnaerel rushes up behind Keg to administer her priestly healing during the heat of battle, while Max, Feanol, and TK continue to hold their positions.

Keyon

The lithe elf cries out in pain, wrenching himself out of the beast's grip. He considers backing away in a defensive posture, but the sight of the second crab coming at them stirs his blood and inspires him to stand fast and defend his comrades. "It's been nice knowing you lot," he says, gritting his teeth against the pain. "Especially the pretty one." Keyon winks over his shoulder at Feanol and swings his longsword one more time. "The spinners press their knives to the thread of my life and laugh..."

He grimaces as his blade swings wide. "And I laugh back." Keyon grins wickedly and braces himself for the crab's next attack.

We are almost ALL rolling horribly. This dice roller is cursed.

The Knife

The Knife is frustrated by the fact that it seems that everyone would rather die than give him a clear shot. He starts shouting and waving his arms around, throwing a gnomish fit.

"Oh, no..." She says when she sees that Keyon is about to die a horrible death. She has but to lunge from her current position in order to touch the rogue's back while muttering a prayer to her goddess.

Fumbling Around With Crabs
Earthday, 25th of Goodmonth
Noonish, Hot, Humid, Buggy

The Knife starts babbling from his elevated perch, evidently the first of the group to see what else might be coming out of the thin forest at them. (Can I get a Very Hard [5d6] Wisdom roll from Max and Feanol please?)

Elnaerel slips behind the badly wounded Keyon, applying her healing magicks to her overly talkative kinsman. The goddess of the wood must think highly of her disciple's friend, healing him back to full health again. Unfortunately, it does nothing to improve his sword arm.

Starting to wonder if they have bitten off more rubbery crab than they can actually chew, Darklin nearly drops his sword during his latest attack, as does Gnodric. The others don't have much better luck either, with none of the groups combatants being able to wound either of the two massive crabs this time. As they are about to return what might be a deadly counter of their own, something strange happens that catches their attention, preoccupying them for a moment and allowing the fighters a slight break from their deadly claws.

As silent as an old church mouse, another even bigger crab suddenly crests the thin line of foliage, heading straight for the fighting. The first pair of crabs quickly position themselves to face this newcomer, instead of continuing the attack on the hapless company. Temporarily saved from another course of painful attacks, the group isnt sure if they should be grateful or not, now that a third monster is closing in on the action.

Elnaerel

"The goddess has given us a chance. Get back, get back now!" She starts retreating quickly, but tries to keep an eye on her companions in case any of them needs help.

I forgot to post the result of my hard Str check, but yeah. I made it by a wide margin. It was an 11. It's in the log, but I can go find it if needed.

Yes, Keyon was able to escape the claw.

I didn't detail that very well in my update, but I did check his absent roll. Sorry for the confusion!

Now, do the two of you want to post an attack, or whistle Dixie?

Keg knows an opportunity when he sees it. Fall back! Let them kill each other!
We need to climb up out of reach or make a run for it!

The Norse man begins backing away from the fight with his guard up. He will try to cover anyone trying to disengage from the melee to move to higher ground.

Hey! Knife! Secure us a rope up there!

"Tree's too small. Find another." The Knife replies abruptly. He's engrossed in the battle of the crabs and waiting to see how it turns out.

Keyon

The elf feels his vital energy return, and he dips his head to Elnaerel in thanks and backs carefully away from the brewing battle between the trio of giant crabs.
