Re: Quest #31 "Jungle Beaver"
None Shall Pass
Moonday, 22nd of Goodmonth
Late Morning, Warm, Humid, Buggy
Once everyone is inside the shack again, Tlachtga heals herself while Gramble curses......a lot. Andron mentions the sprinkling device known only as Withering Venom to Gramble, explaining simply that it seems to destroy vegetation, before slipping it back into his pack.
Though some in the group prefer to rest, Maag reminds them that it isn't yet midday, tugging at their feels by bringing up the hungry children of Beachtown. The homely half-orc with the charisma of a stubborn jackass sure seems to have a way with them, as most in the group quickly agree that it wouldn't hurt to continue their hunt before making their way back to town.
Gramble asks about the capybara they shot earlier, as Alordan ponders using the shack as some kind of blind where they can kill things from a distance. The discussion continues as the morning passes, but no one in the party seems to want to make the first move back outside, apparently enjoying their brief respite from the islands insects.
Actions?
Gramble 17/24
Alordan 19/22
Andronichishche 10/11 0/4 1st / CL, DM, RM 0/2 1st
Lerrick 17/20 3/5 1st 2/4 2nd
Maag 14/17
Tlachtga 16/16 1/4 1st 0/3 2nd
Moonday, 22nd of Goodmonth
Late Morning, Warm, Humid, Buggy

Andronichishche
"It would seem we are in agreement, then", says Andron. He picks up his pack from the bed it was laying on and slides the latter back into the wall, defying any normal laws of physics. Slipping the pack over his shoulders, he then sidles to the cabin's only door and opens it wide. He steps aside to allow room for another to take the lead, but raises a cautioning index finger. "I agree with Lerrick, and also consider the capybara is in the exact spot we were just ambushed." Andron arches an eyebrow for emphasis, "I suggest we avoid it, and the river."

Re: Quest #31 "Jungle Beaver"
The river is only about 10 feet off the narrow trail in most places, but you moved away from the muddy bank where you were attacked before you set up the cabin, so lets say 10 feet from the river, but 50 feet away from the dead capybara.ravenn4544 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 16, 2020 3:20 pm OOC: how far away is our lovely hut from the river where we were attacked?

Alordan examines the hut to see if a 'window' can be opened to scan the river.

One of the cabins windows can be opened to overlook the river. Nothing out of the ordinary is seen in that direction.

Re: Quest #31 "Jungle Beaver"
Alordan looks out at the river from the window. Would be a great spot to fire arrows from. He gets an idea. "Maag - why don't you go out to the river and draw some of those things to us? You wanted a hunt - let's hunt"
Re: Quest #31 "Jungle Beaver"
Maag
Maag scoffs at Alordan's suggestion. "By der river? You are jokin', right?"
"We need to get out of dis 'ut an find der beavers before dey get away." He loads his crossbow and steps out of the door.

Herding Beavers
Moonday, 22nd of Goodmonth
Late Morning, Warm, Humid, Buggy
A small portion of the group exits the shack and looks around for more animals to hunt. They see neither jungle beavers or any river monsters, though the small tracks in the dirt at their feet still indicate that the majority of the animals they saw earlier fled north up the trail.
Actions?
Gramble 17/24
Alordan 19/22
Andronichishche 10/11 0/4 1st / CL, DM, RM 0/2 1st

Andronichishche
Andronichishche exits the hut to join Maag and Gramble. Once everyone is outside, he closes the door and places a palm on it. He utters the word, "Dansden," and steps back. While awaiting the hut to revert into a cube, Andron silently views the surrounding jungle.

Re: Quest #31 "Jungle Beaver"
Alordan is okay following the group. He will close the window and shut the door. He interrupts Andron before he can complete the commnad word, "Let's hold off on that for one second - those nasty things may be waiting for us and it may prove useful to have a quick fort to fall back to."
After a second, he offers to Andron, "By the way, that sprinkly thing of yours that kills plants - I bet that would work wonders on our killer tree problem on the island."

Andronichishche
Andronichishche pauses before speaking the command word as Alordan exits the hut. He nods emphatically at the suggestion to leave the structure intact. "Absolutely, Mr. Alordan! I agree, especially if we intend to return north on the trail." Andron points in the direction of the muddy river bank where the ghouls attacked.
"Quite true", he says in response about Withering Venom, patting the spot in his backpack where the sprinkler resides. "The effect was rather dramatic, shriveling the plants almost instantly." He nods his head at Gramble, still visibily fuming from his paralysis. "The sprinkler belongs to Gramble, though. It's certainly a more controllable option than fire."

Andronichishche
Andronichishche retrieves his leather journal in response to Gramble's query. He flips to a page that contains a transcribed map of the obelisks. Apparently lost in deep thought, Andron only stares at the page for several moments before blinking rapidly and abruptly shutting the journal. "While it is true we have ... unfinished business ... on the island, we must find and learn about these obelisks. Something has ... changed ... recently." He doesn't share anything else, although it's quite evident the topic has struck a nerve.

Maag
Maag winks at Tlachtga. "Some people might say dat der taint is der best part".
He gestures with his crossbow. "Der beavers went dat way. Let's get after dem before sumfin' else gets dem."
Maag takes a few steps in the direction of the beaver tracks, but not too quickly, hoping that someone else will take the lead.
