Tries to do the same as Andron, but with his long sword.

Long Sword - To hit [1d20] = 2; Dmg: S/M [1d8] = 3 L [1d12] = 11 -4 = -2 to hit.

But he doesn't know where his sword hilt is.

Lerrick

The cleric winces in pain as the vines grip tighter. Seeing that the attempts to slice through the vines with weapons are not having the desired effect she prays that Andron's plan to cut through the vine with his dagger works.

Joe and Andron are quickly losing their battle to keep the cleric inside the wobbly boat. Pete winces when almost everyone packs towards the rear of the craft, now struggling to even keep it afloat. As one might imagine how combat inside a small boat might look, the scene is utter chaos and pandemonium.

One by one the unbalanced hacks of the group miss the stringy appendage, Tlachtga’s swing actually hitting Lerrick as she struggles to get free. 2 dam As she is lifted out of the boat, the vines continue to tighten around her bleeding body. 5 dam With a scream of agony, the groups healer passes out unconscious from the damaging trauma.

In an absolute case of last resort, Andronichishche let’s go of the rope and yanks out a small dagger that he rarely uses from his gear. He leaps for the vines, sawing at them frantically, finally cutting through enough of it to release its grasp. He and Lerrick fall back into the boat again as Pete rows away from the dangerous shoreline with that same *I told ye so* look on his face.

Andronichishche

Andronichishche collapses onto the boat, his desperate maneuver having worked despite the overwhelming odds against it. He quickly sheaths his dagger and carefully orients Lerrick onto her back, with her shoulders slightly tilted against one edge of the boat to relieve some weight from her chest.

Andron next checks her pulse and eyes, noting a faint but still strong heart beat and pupils which shrink in reaction to the morning sun light. He allows himself a brief pause and exhales slowly to calm his nerves and allow the adrenaline to dissipate from his system. She was alive. Barely. Further calming and focusing his mind, he chants a familiar prayer to Rao for the healing of Lerrick's grievous wounds.

Sparing a look back from his ministrations, he catches the *I told ye so* look from Pete and offers back a raised eyebrow, which to even a casual observer expresses a certain, *It would be nice in the future of you would, respectfully, vocally express your specific concerns before rowing us into suspected danger ... Please*.

"Nicely done, Mr. Pete. Kindly row us post haste to the western beach. Thank you."

Maag claps Andron on the shoulder. "Nice bit of knifework dat wos mate. Lerrick definitely owes yer one for dat".

He looks over at the unconscious cleric, then puts his arm around Andron. "Now den, yer can wake 'er up can't yer? Cos to be honest I don't fancy draggin' 'er around der island all day".

Maag leans back and looks over at Cu. "An' you, dog 'ead, he says. "Wot was you doin' while I was busy savin' yer mum's life? " Maag tuts. "Bad dog 'ead".

Andronichishche

Andronichishche winces at the meaty clap on his shoulder by the half-orc of unusual strength. He manages to steady himself before stumbling and falling into the drink, though. "Thank you Mr. Maag, Mr. Gramble. It has been many years since I've been trained with a dagger. I'm relieved to have recalled enough to succeed."

Andron checks Lerrick's pulse and breathing again before answering Maag's question. "Yes, I can apply another spell of healing. That should awaken her. No need to carry additional baggage this trip."

Waited to use another action, but if he can cast another before the update post, here's another cure.

Cure Light Wounds: [1d8] = 3

He then retrieves his pack and slings it across one shoulder, his eyes all the while gazing thoughtfully at the bank with the half casks and the carnivorous trees. "Mr. Gramble. I believe you had the right of it with your initial solution to these trees ... burn them to the roots. They're adapting and using new tactics much more quickly than I anticipated. This island will never be safe while they exist."

Carucenus sheathes his sword and looks ahead. Lerrick send to be taken care of, she might not need more people around her.

Lerrick

The cleric gasps for air and opens her eyes. Her senses come back quickly as she sees the concerned faces of several of the party members looking at her. Along with regaining her sight she also regains her sense of touch as she again winces in pain from the injuries from the crushing vines of the trees. She then tries and succeeds in bracing herself agains the side of the boat. Thank you Andron for saving me. I...have to be more careful. And thank you all for trying to cut the vines to try to save me. She turns to Tlachtga and smiles and gives her a wink. I will sit for a moment and tend to the rest of my wounds. I can't heal any of you if I am dead. She smiles again, she takes a deep breath and closes her eyes. While slowly exhaling the air from her lungs she mumbles a prayer. Soothing healing spreads through her body.

Giving credit where credit is due, the big fighters let Andronichishche know that, despite his penchant to know everything, he’s okay in a pinch with his blade as well. The priest of Rao lays a firm hand upon the unconscious Lerrick, administering prayers of healing until her maneuverability returns. Once upright again, she follows with one of her own.

Pete stares back at Andron’s raised eyebrow. “Don’t gimme that look, son. Me an Joe’s a been a warning ye about them trees since day one.” Joe makes sure everyone is alright before putting his hand on Pete’s shoulder. “Now, now. No need ta point fingers. We’re all in this together, remember. Let’s juss get these nice folks ta the beach so they’s can go about their business.”

Lerrick thanks her friends for saving her, felling better and glad she wasn’t ripped apart by the trees. Maag and Cu have a one sided conversation for a moment when Gramble and Andron discuss one sure fire way to deal with these arboreal enemies.

Once everyone is situated again, Pete quickly brings the craft around to the small stretch of sand that is now affectionately known as Cat Turd Beach. The cats are there, going about their normal business, but there is no indication of killer trees or kobold ambush anywhere.

“So, same deal then? Just a wait here fer ya?”

Andronichishche

Andronichishche sits in quiet contemplation for the remainder of the trip, ruminating over the recent events. When the boat lands ashore and the others are safely on the beach, he turns back to face Pete and Joe. "Mr. Pete, please accept my sincere apology. You were correct and I had no cause to question your integrity." He nods to Joe now. "Mr. Joe has reminded this priest of Rao that the greatest gift is reason, and in the moment I allowed my emotions to cloud my rational thought. We are indeed in this together. All of us."

Andron smiles and relaxes somewhat and looks off into the northeast as he continues, "Yes, same plan as before. However, I suspect that last group of kobolds was devoured by the trees. If so, many more may be sent in response, and they may discover this beach as an alternate landing. Please keep a close watch. If you should see them, don't hesitate. Leave immediately for Beachtown. We will send a smoke signal when it's safe to return."

He disembarks the boat and trudges through the soft sand to the head of the trail, his eyes scanning into the trees for any evidence of hidden vines. "Let us proceed, then. We may not have much time before more kobold arrive."

Carucenus "Ok, let's go." says the brooding looking warrior, scanning the tree line just in case something jumps over them. "If you folks want to rethink our marching order, just tell me but, for starters, I can keep guarding the rear."

"If I woz you lads, I wouldn't go finkin' dat der kobolds are dead just yet," cautions Maag. " Dey could still be ' ere somewhere. Keep yer 'eads on a swivel."

" 'an if yer 'ave to get out of 'ere, don't forget to watch for smoke or fire signals from us."

Alordan nods, "let's definitely all agree that there is probably still either those water kobolds or minotaurs waiting for us. Be ready."

He thinks about the trees for a minute, "what about oil or something like that we can dose on them? They aren't that fast and that would help send them up in flames, right?"
